So I will want to watch the original eventually but rn I want to watch the cg version.
Is it the same plot? Like has the same twists and reveals as the original?
Or is it a whole other plot that just happens to have the same universe?
Thanks

No, it’s a reimagining. It’s different from the manga and the anime. The anime is closer to the manga compared to the new show, but from what I hear it’s still not really like the manga.

It’s different but a lot of the same characters.

The original treats Vash’s backstory as a mystery only to reveal it over halfway through as a twist.

Stampede reveals the backstory and villains immediately.

So yeah, it spoils it in that sense - but they are both different anyway.

the order of things happening are a bit different, and most of the characters are new/different but I still enjoy it after watching the original

I think it will 100% spoil the original.

There are several "reveals" in Stampede episode 1 that don't happen until much later in the original (from what I remember). I would argue they're a crucial part of the original's plot.

Lots of big reveals from late in the original Trigun are shown in the first episode of Stampede as setup. The story of the original should still be enjoyable if you have that spoiled, though - Vash just won't have as mysterious of a backstory.

Aside from that, this series seems to be reimagining both the story and the characters, so everything is similar but different. For example, the main villain from the original is revealed very early on in Stampede and has different powers, while another side villain in the original plays a different role here as well.

All that said, the series seems written in a way that assumes half the audience has seen the original and half hasn't, so it both builds upon our expectations from the original and is enjoyable as somebody's first Trigun experience. It really comes down to which version is more important to you? They're both good, but I think most will say the original is better.

Nope.

The original still exists.
This is just a new Interpretation of the Story, done in a more modern way.

You can enjoy this one more, you might prefer the original, maybe you like both
-but nothing will be spoiled.

Legit don't get why people are saying no here. While Stampede is a retelling/reimagining, the first episode literally spoiled Vash's backstory and the mystery elements of the original Trigun anime. That, of course, isn't the end all, be all of the anime, but that is spoiling. That will also make the first time watching of the original anime vastly different for those who watch Stampede first. This isn't like 80s She-ra vs. She-ra and the Princesses of Power, which tells a completely different story and basically just uses the names of the characters and some other basic things. In Stampede, we still see Vash having the same backstory in both versions and slightly different, but still some overlapping series of events at parts.

Depends, if you're a die hard fan of the 1998 Trigun. An elitist and hate CGI, then yes Stampede will spoil the original for you. If you're neither of those, it won't.
