Tbh, I think Liliha is an interesing person, keeping a cool head but also looks somewhat inscure for her character. She also seems like a nice person who can get along with strangers.

As for the survival elements, I think pacing slowed down a little but the environment remains the same. This fictional world looks fascinating with otherworldy elements, reminds me a little of Made in Abyss.

Kind of disappointed at lack of emotions when they left the village but I guess CGI can relay only so much. Still you'd expect departure would hit harder on Kaina considering those folks are all the people he knew up until that point.

Oh man I really do like this one.

The OP is one of the best this season. Cool polyrhythmic feel/textures remind me of some afro-pop.

The story/world-building is solid AF, the pace doesn't get any better for my head. The CG is only distracting in one place for me (when the bug was protecting the nest). I love it. I'm filled with wonder as I follow along and wish our MCs the best.

Oh nah man this show might be special fr. I HATE 3DCGI style of animation normally but this is such an interesting story and premise that I totally forget it’s 3D animation. The sense of adventure and wonder I’m getting from this combined with the Kohta OST… Sawano Op… this could be special.

I can’t wait to find out A) what happened to the world, B) if the sage even really exists, could be a yakuneba type thing, C) what the country that’s invading everyone else looks like. Just a lot of questions and a real sense of wonder I’m getting from this.

Also the irony of having a snow sea but no water. Wonder if it’s like nuclear fallout snow.

Kaina finding the Atland Princess Ririha and bringing her back from the Floater to the Canopy. and demanding a presence with the sage, she begins to unravel her story to Kaina and the elderly villagers, showing that the world of the Snow Sea people are real, facing competition from Valghia whom the country on a ship is stealing resources like water. He time isn't much, but getting her way down to the Snow Sea isn't much a probable thought as she's stuck above in the Canopy.

Kaina giving Ririha a tour around the village, and the elderly are excited to have a visitor come this far. Ririha spotting a Floater and giving chase to it, unfortunately triggers insects beneath, and they were lucky to be alive. This is when the Signkeeper provides a way: through some carpenters' tools, but once down, there's no way up.

Kaina leading the way to make sure Ririha is home safe and sound, and the expedition begins the way down. What will they both experience, it's up to this adventure of endless proportions.

Just can't get with this one, big part of that's the animation style for sure but the story doesn't move me at all either.

I had the same thought, and the CGI isn't an excuse; they could've conveyed more with dialogue, too. I thought Kaina would've been a lot sadder knowing he'll never get to go back to see the only people he's known his whole life. He was acting like he was just saying goodbye temporarily but didn't they say there'd be no way to come back up to the canopy?

It's not actual snow...you should've known that from episode one. They call it "snow" because it looks a bit like snow. Some sort of foam I guess.

My line of thinking was poor CGI = lazy, so not animating emotions fit with that assumption. They definitely dropped the ball on that one. Also whole thing with repelling down with rope makes zero sense considering they could have gotten a floater and just put excess weight on it to float down slowly. That's what we call plot convenience. Am fully assuming there will be some drama with gear they got, especially since old guy mentioned "it's configured to level 1 and shouldn't be changed". So far story is predictable but world is interesting enough to keep me watching. We'll see.

Yeah, true. I agree with you, the world itself is beautiful and interesting and that's why I'm staying. I want to find out more about why they ended up in this post-apocalyptic sort of scenario with so few human survivors.

How are they going to climb down a kilometers tall tree with I guess at most a couple hundred meters of rope?

I guess we'll find out but I had to stop the show to vent at the amount of rope they made him and the show sort of making it look like it was a lot.

LOL, how do real climbers do it? Do you think they carry ropes for the entire length of a mountain wall? rofl

While I'm ignorant to the whole rock climbing thing it seems they do(unless they aren't using ropes at all), or are you comparing climbing a mountain where you can stop and rest with what looks like a featureless vertical wall?

Ok, the two episodes did an adequate job at introducing the setting, but with this water problem and the war, as well as all the characters shown in the opening and ending, we have way more than enough material to fill the series with, to the point that I don't know if 9 episodes will be enough to cover them properly...but we'll see.

The CGI is enough to have some world building but at the same time, the movement looks unnatural to me as always.

Seriously, climbing down like that is scary but it looks fun... lol
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

This time around, I will admit the CGI did bother me a little, but it still didn't detract from the world building too much. We found out the Atland was at war with Valghia over water shortages, and the Sage, who is the person Liliha was trying to find, could provide unlimited water, to potentially thwart what seems like impending extinction.

It was a little sad to see Kaina leave the villagers of the canopy, but like they said, he would be alone once they died, so maybe this farewell was timely, and so, the adventure down to the Abyss, the Snow Sea begins. A lot of good world building to be seen here, and there are pieces to make this show great, but the presentation is a bit ungainly at times for sure. The OP though, is probably top 3 of the season.

The decent down the massive tree begins!! The world looks very pretty and the cgi is really good!! Liliha is also a very interesting character can't wait to see more of her!!

Exploring or atleast stories centered around an apocalyptic like world truly is interesting for me. I'm looking forward to some of the mystery reveals like that glowing green mushroom like projection. Curious to see how the author resolves the water issues too.

There's been plenty of cheap 2d production nowadays and I must say that I prefer this lvl of cgi over the former. This CGI however is still disappointing especially with the lack of facial expressions and emotion conveying.

I LOVE where this is going!

We got a bit more worldbuilding and learned a bit more about the two tribes we saw in the last episode, and how there's currently a struggle to find any remaining water. Really curious to see where our two MC's go from here though, as they didn't bother to look around the canopy some more and decided to head back down immediately.

I do hope we get to see a bit more of the canopy at some point, though I doubt it. Looking forward to seeing what's in store though!

Good thing the elders did a selfless act by having Kaina accompany Liliha as, like they said, Kaina will be alone after they die. Besides, she may need help as I imagine it won't be easy getting back to her village.

Looks like the adventure starts in the next episode.

Oh my, that giant bug was scary!

Old people are so cute, uwu. They fussed so much over Ririha happy to see a new face, but were so sensible to let them both go. This was a right thing to do, Kaina has no future if he's left alone in the Canopy.

Kaina is adorable too, such an innocent pure soul, he's about to be traumatized for life, isn't he.

Lili finally reached the placeshe was looking for, but unfortunately it seems like it was in vain, there's no sage, there's no water, and tbh, theres almost nothing over at the canopy

her town, a pretty big population with 1000 people, is at war with some random people who are stealing water from other villages... not having enough water is a problem
(tbh sometimes i think that in the future, earth will have that problem, wars over water to drink, since we waste so much of it)

lol the old people thought Kaina and Lili would be a good pair, to stay together when the old people die (maybe they will anyway)
Lily now wants to go back down, but no one seems to know how to do that, the elevator (floater) only goes up
even so, Kaina wants to help her

the old woman came to wake her up and take some measurements (damn Lili has a nice figure), wonder how her new clothes will look

going for a tour, indeed there's a lot of space inside those tree branches, it looks like a cavern
oh no, she didnt know she drank bug soup LOL

didn't Kaina tell her to wait for him? didn't he tell her that the eggs place is dangerous? geez lol that fall looked funny tho

uff, Kaina saved her just in time, she almost turned into bug food, geez

as much as they wanted to keep them there, sending them back to a bigger village where they won't be alone is also a nice idea, so they managed to get a good rope and some mountain climbing gear lol

damn it, the goodbye scenes are always hard ... and time to go down there, can they reach the bottom safely?

What are they supposed to do when they run out of rope?  Or is he somehow going to be able to gather it repelling straight down? It doesn't make sense but I guess if you could use equipment he'd never seen before, then anything is possible.

If you look closely you can see that they hang the rope from its midpoint, so at the bottom you can just pull one end of the rope I guess.

What about that balloonlike vision they momentarily see off in the distance? I'm guessing it has something to do with the sage legend.
