I am kind of impressed that Chinese animation is starting to rise. I don't know if there are more movies like this. Hopefully more with success of Ne Zha and upcoming Legend of Deification.

Second donghua movie that got a chance to be listed here.

Well, my comment might had some exaggeration. But, nevermind my newbie thought that somehow having trouble to compared such a thing. But this show really give me a great enjoyment. Idk. Maybe i had a little knowledge about donghua? Maybe yes, my lists of this type of show shall be enough to judge my drunken commentary. However, without any shit word i accidentally blurt it out, to be short, here is my detailed scores for every aspects.

Story : 7 (the long explanations over any others section)
The story came off surprisingly from the green hairpin perspective. Its served as the memories that giant white snake demon had 500 years ago. If you kinda like the backwards plot of the storyline, this show really suit your desires. However, when you can't understand the type of plot this show had, you may had trouble to find out, the meaning behind this show. My initial judgement had a struggle define a good thing of the show. Later on, when knewing about the heavy romance aspects they had, the sacrificial thing that her lover did before, and a great direction to conclude everything when the show near the end, my struggle slowly got erased.

However, the ending might had a confusing matter (i mean with the foxy demon that took off the white snake demon's lover. Whats the matter there?), and the reincarnation shit just served as some kind of bs from me. Really its may be good for people that loves happy ending. But, goddamned it. Why you just added some shit reason to revived her lover? Such a poor script on that little thing. But it just have a pretty much impact for me, just changed my point of view on this show.

Seriously, when i said in the first paragraph, it was real. A masterpiece resolution (by killed off him with that reason had a logic and great direction). However, goddamned end just flip it all in one turn. It surely just decreasing my scores on this section. Maybe this was kind of exaggeration. But thats how i, sometimes, decide a new thing satisfaction. A little nonsense just decreased my mood so fast. So, yeah, at least 7 just too good for this kind of show, remembering that this donghua served as my second lists.

Art, animation, and sounds in general: 9
Superb. I can't say anything. Its beyond my expectations. A full 3D CGI with a massive smooth detail orientation on the action packed me with a solid great score in the end. Again. This may have some personal satisfaction issues as my standard of judgement. My standard shall be different from your taste. So, yeah, thats it shall be enough on my standardization.

Characterization : 9
If only that dog was not reincarnated as a human. I may give this section a 9. Just kidding. But seriously though. That dog served nothing on this show instead just acting to releasing some unnecessary humour. Oh, well, i know i should be loving a comedy aspect. But not for this kind of show that just ruined every built up they had. The end? No. Its not with the help of the dog. Its because her lover that convinced the villager to actually move up. Lmao. Maybe this is just a stupid reason. But, yeah thats happening. At least a 9 must be too good for me, right?

Enjoyment : 9
Despite the weakness with my explanations there, a solid 9 for me might be good to closing this kind of show.

Overall, i may using the mean rate again knowing i had some trouble to decide my solid overall scores. So yeah, its happening as my classical attempt to resolved a heavy movie or series. I hope its enough for your own satisfaction. Because its really differ for every person in the world, right?

Overall my scores goes to a 8.5/10 at max. A nice movie with a good impact if you love some kind of heavy drama romance with the myth and fantasy theme on it. If only they had a better condition in the end, i shall be glad to raise up my thing on some section scores. But, well, thats happened. I can't do anything to changed my tastes. So, thats all for me!

But, watching this just after seeing the live-action movie few days prior, it was a totally different story...

Crazy good! 🤩
Only things which I didn't quite like are (i) their disproportionately big eyes and (ii) cartoonish faces.
Glad the story is quite different from the original; else it'll be a bore to watch a rehase of the same old story again.
Well, will be watching the sequel, "Green Snake" next!

after seeing a notif for a third movie in the series coming up, I went back to this after having seen the sequel Green Snake some time ago and planning to eventually get to it.

It's very loosely connected, and not quite as good as Green Snake, however it's still enjoyable and worth the watch!
