I mean yes, hearts were broken and tears were shed (mine included). But still, it was far less traumatizing than the 3rd movie. (And thank god for that!).
I was walking through these episodes very very cautiously as to not get mentally fucked like I got in the movie. But then after episode 8 I was "wait, is the most gruesome part over?". And the rest felt pretty okay, the violence just slightly darker than other violent shows.
Idk, just wanted to share how I felt. Does anyone have the same opinion?

Edit: I think you got me all wrong. I don't think this is light at all. Just lightER than the movie. I also need to mention that I'd been mentally preparing to watch this season for like 2 MONTHS. I watched the 1st season falsely led into the notorious "it's a nice family friendly adventure" trap and so the movie just scarred a piece of my soul. I too think this season is no less fucked up.
It's just that instead of feeling second hand pain about a phycopath amputating your entire body, it felt more like watching Romeo and Juliette on steroids. Also dramatic but in a different way.

Idk, a kid who was abandoned by her tribe and left on an island alone because she couldn’t reproduce, gains the ability to finally have kids, only to birth corpses every time, everyday, just for the people who took her in to end up eating dead fetus soup to heal themselves is pretty dark to me. Then she grows into a monstrous giant baby birthing village, and allows all the villagers that forsook her to live on. Then the one person who genuinely cared and loved her is forced to live in her dead fetus basement locked up for eternity. I think this was darker for me imo, being attached to Prushka for half the movie is what makes it feel so dark I think. Of course it’s all subjective, hard to say which is more torturous cuz everything is fucked up in this series lol.

What kind of fucked up media are you consuming to consider this "light"?

I mean eating alien babies and morphing into monstrosities is pretty horrible.

Probably debatable that it’s lighter than the third movie

Bondrewd is a peak anti-villian, the movie's impact was driven solely by his gruesome/morally ambiguous actions.

This season is a tragedy of circumstances, of how different characters react to the situations they are facing, their actions and the unfathomable/tragic consequences.

The former is grotesque violence and horror, the latter is ambition-fueled trauma and agony/remorse-filled torment

It was definitely lighter, but you are very much overstating how much lighter it was. But I guess that's fine, it had been constantly getting heavier and heavier all throughout the first season and the movie, when it took a turn and went for a slightly lighter arc, so I can totally understand why you'd think that.

Did it adapt book 8? Cuz I think becoming a flesh monster and having people eat your baby’s is preeeeetty fucked up!!!

Is that so. In my opinion this season had the most disturbing parts of the whole series but each to their own.
