This brilliant anime, according to readers, has now adapted vol 01-05 from light novel material.

Adaptation timeline: web novel -> light novel -> manga -> anime
By the end of January 2022, 16 vols of light novel + 1 special volume were released.

What are your expectations for the next season?
What do you think, when second season of this anime would be released?

I kinda doubt that this show will ever be continued. Spider part of the story was pretty gold, but the Hero part wasn't that good and the animation wasn't good either.

Depends on if the show sold well in Japan I guess.

it’s made by Crunchyroll right so if it did well in the west there’s a chance right ? I liked the show but ye the cg wasn’t amazing especially towards the end but it was watchable at least

I don't think it was made by Crunchyroll, or that they were involved with production. I'm pretty sure they just bought an exclusive license to stream the show on their platform.

It could possibly get another season if it was popular in the West, but I doubt that it would.

I hope for a season 2 even if it would only be few episodes I hate cliff hangers and I got no time to add light novel reading as a hobby.

The anime was decent I mean it got me interested to know what´s gonna happen but yeah honestly most of the class mates hero part and that shit I skipped becuse how lame and boring it was. It was more fun to follow Kumoko´s story arc I mean she is the MC after all.

I have high expectation for season 2, because it will be one of best part in this series.

Don't bother with S1, it just prolepsis.

But how high are the chances for a S2, realistically speaking? According to the Japanese wiki entry, the light novel has been concluded at the beginning of 2022 with 16 volumes in total. Unless LN sales are still doing well after the series was wrapped up and the anime made some serious bank, which I kind of doubt, I would personally not bet on any further installments.

Granted, despite numerous problems I had with the series myself, I would really like to see it get a continuation. But if our Japanese overlords don´t see a good money opportunity, it´s likely not gonna happen.

Here they say thet Kumoko's adventures were quite successful overseas, so who knows how much it brought to Kadokawa.
If 2nd season will ever happen, looks like they would need way better planning, more time (i think S1 would've benefited greatly from splitting to 2 cours) and more experienced support studios.

I wonder why they announce 2nd cour so fast. I don't know who is the greedy one, but well i hope this will get S2 soon as possible with better studio.

I forgot few last days ago, it won Piccoma Awards.

"a bit" or "a lot"? because it matters very much to my interest in this series. anything close to that level of despair is a f*** no for me.

Like, I really hope for a S2, but if the LN ending is anything even close to that then I really hope they go with an anime-original ending.

Kadokawa has that 40 anime in a year plan after all, so it's not unlikely that a season 2 might happen.

I know this is late but Crunchyroll was a member of the production committee, so they are not just licensors.
And this show was even labeled as a "Crunchyroll original"

For what I know from the ending in the Light Novel (note that the last volume is still Japanese only ^^'' ), White has a similar fate but she chose to do it, instead of being forced. We know the fate of most characters after the final battle (in the WN we know nothing).

I have no idea how the f*** anyone would willingly choose that fate, especially one who is immortal. Either way, this is still an atrocious, very disappointing, and incredibly depressing ending. I would honestly much rather she somehow loses her immortality and dies in that battle than this. So, if S2 is ever made I really hope they go with an anime original ending.

I was thinking about reading the LN too, which would have been the 2nd ever LN I read because of an anime (after Overlord). Guess I can say goodbye to that thought now.

Guys the LN and WN are different series - just read the light novel if you are interested in the story. They are really awesome ( each book has a different story telling style ).

I’m not sure if a second season would be that interesting - the whole anime plot is just the introduction to the world. So if they are going to produce a new season, it would not connect to the end of season 1. Personally don’t like the hero story but loved the demon arc much more to the point that thinking of this series recalls scenes from the book instead of the fully drawn anime.

Can hope for a next season, but it is true that it depends on the Japanese audience. If it did get enough views & support for a next season.

Pity that western viewership doesn’t count? Still not sure how all that works.

in 2021, the LN got some awards from Kadokwa Book, Bookwalker, and more. For anime, it was most watched in China and 3rd place in most profitable Kadokawa project 2021. Last year, even it's still getting a lot awards especially Bookwalker. However, everything was forshadowed due bad news.

S2 depends Kadokawa's decision in the end.

I'm talking about money from the Western audience.
