I was thinking about reading the manga after season 1 but than i realized something, Mappa MIGHT animate season 2 in 2024. Here's why
3 of the major mappa series will come to an end in the year 2023 that is AOT CSM and possibly Hell's Paradise. JJK Season 2 is also coming next year so By the end of Winter 2024 Mappa will get their hands free from the biggest anime of the industry. this will give them enough time to make dorohedoro s2 and also god of high school s2.
I know mappa has other projects as well but the majority of their time and resources are currently fixated on AOT & CSM which will end in 2023 leaving enough resources to animate dorohedoro and god of high school s2(fingers crossed)
what do you think? does this make in any sense? would u like a sequel to both god of high school and Dorohedoro

Jjk isn't coming to an end. They will work on s3 after s2 finishes.

I don’t know how that stuff works on how a show gets picked up for additional seasons and such. I do know that Netflix is involved and I’m not sure how well it did. You might just want to grab the manga.

i know but they wont have to work on it in 2024 right after season 2. AOT as CSM will end in 2023 and if they release Hells paradise in spring or summer of 2023 it'll end as well. So mappa will be totally free from these 3 series. I never said jjk will end.

Your reason doesn’t make sense.
As we know, MAPPA have different teams for each project so one project won’t affect the others unless the team working on this anime swapped to another.
Sadly, this is what’s happening to Dorohedoro. Director Hayashi and some of the staff are currently working on AOT. So if they’re planning for Dorohedoro S2, it’ll be mostly after AOT ended.
And is S2 possible? Yes IMO. Pretty sure Hayashi said that he’ll continue it if it do well. S1 have performed pretty well so I think there’s a chance. It just that he’s busy on AOT now.
Also we don’t know when CSM is gonna end. Fujimoto might planning part 3 or making part 2 super long. We don’t know.

Yeah the other animes' ending will give them alot more free hand. Dorohedoro s2 could be possible unless there's a new trending manga in 2023 that mappa decides to adapt and focuses on it (like csm).

I mean, if some other manga gets very popular(like csm did) then mappa might adapt it.

Looking at mappa's trend these past few years, it's very likely.

Well then just wait it out and hopefully they announce a new season soon. I would love that. I’m still going to check out the manga. Also dai dark is from the same mangaka and I’ve heard it’s pretty good. Maybe check out that manga too.

A series start to finnish usually takes +- 2 years to animate and seeing how much mapping already has on their plates it's very unlikely that it'll come out that quickly give it a few more years and there's a posability imo.

Dunno about that. I mean for JJK it is highly likely that they will continue with the property. For Hell's Paradise dunno. Ig it depends on how the first season does. They might defide to adapt the manga fully. God Of Highschool isn't getting a S2 thats for sure. As for Dorohedoro why not. There is always a possibility. Plus we have to account new properties that the studio will deffinitely acquire.

Ye ig if chainsaw man and hells paradise are both 2 cour they will end after 1 ssn, but u have made a fundamental error. Think about mappa, back when they started their rise to fame (2015ish or something), they would work sequels, but the reason why they were successful is that they eventually decided to focus more on adapting very popular manga, and less on more obscure sequels. If you look at mappa now, all their sequels are the huge shows that make them a shit ton of money. It’s very rare for them to make sequels like they did with zombie land saga, a pretty popular and good anime, yet nowhere near as big as the type they’ve started to shift to. There are a lot of popular manga rn that fit their dark action style and have huge potential, in terms of money and popularity that would be way ahead of the packing order than dorohedoro. You also missed a few things for example the original film they’re making. Overall if they do make a sequel for dorohedoro it would most likely be handled by a smaller team and may not turn out great, simply cos the profit incentive is nothing compared to the likes of jjk and aot. I’m not doubting that dorohedoro is a great anime, cos it is, just that the staff that would be used up making a sequel for this could be working on a bigger project that generates much more money for them.

CSM and JJK aren't close to ending but they don't necessarily matter for Dorohedoro S2 other than taking a bunch of animators and some minor staff roles. As people have pointed out already, the main reason of no S2 yet is director Hayashi + other key staff members working on AOT, so they are going to be ready for a new project after 2023. The other person to check out for is the animation producer of Dorohedoro S1 Fuko Noda who was busy with Idaten Deities last year but no new project yet, obviously we still don't know the full team of Jigokuraku so there might be some overlap their as well. Unless Hayashi decides to get involved with some other franchise (please don't) or make an original, we'll probably get a S2 by late 2024-early 2025. There's also the art director Shinji Kimura, the real backbone of the production, if he refuses to work on S2, then I personally don't think a season 2 needs to exist.

As for GOH, if S2 ever gets announced, it's probably going to be at Sunghoo Park's new studio. I think it's called E&H Production or something like that.

The Bonus chapters got some love. That makes me hopeful.
Then again it was picked up by Netflix....that could lead to some problems and we might have to wait forever for a second season, unfortunatly

MAPPA isn't really that much of a factor in this. They could afford doing a sesond season. It's just a multi-media fk up to get a Show promoted, licensed and finally started again, nowadays

The Chainsaw Man manga is not even ready for its end, how do you expect MAPPA to be totally free from the anime which has only adapted 40 chapters out of 137

Amazing how a horrible shit show like Jigokuraku gets season 2 announced immediately upon the end of the first one and I'm still waiting for 3 years and counting for the thin possibility of Dorohedoro S2.

Real shame this never got a sequel, you never know with anime but we're approaching four years since the release so its not looking great.

At least we have the manga, just a shame as MAPPA did something really beautiful visually with this series - would have liked to see more. You never know with Netflix commissions though, they're a slave to views and this was an unusual series on paper compared to something like My Hero Academia.
