I did not like her at all during the anime I really didn’t like her after the Kyoto trip but after reading the manga I understand her better.

You have to differ between a bad written character and a bad person (which is of course a character in a story). Ichika is a well written character in my opinion, but SHE as a person was quite egoistic (but she regrets it - therefore there's even character development)

Every anime has a bad person, of course.

But when that character is made so extremely unbearable, and so unrealistically annoying, its just ruins the experience.

For example, the girl from A Silent Voice who bullies Shoko is an obviously bad person, but shes not placed into the story where its over bearing,

I don't understand why Ichika gets this fervent hate from at all. Like the worst thing she did was impersonate one of her sisters and lied here and there. THATS IT. And then once she realized she was wrong and her lies blew up in her face she apologized genuinely.

Otherwise, she was arguably the best sister in season 1, She was one of the first to warm up to Fuutarou, along with Yotsuba, she literally worked herself to exhaustion to support herself and her sisters when they left home.

Hot take, I don't hold what she did in s2 against her bc I'm pretty sure her character was fucked over on purpose...

not many people may know this but negi (the author) knew who he wanted to win from the very beginning of the story, and ichika was easily the "best girl" by the end of season 1, at least in my eyes. So if nothing happened and her character stayed the course it was headings towards she would've easily been the best girl along with nino if not better by the end of the series.

So the author needed to nerf her so his best girl could have a chance. So yeah... sad but I can't fault ichika bc it wasn't a natural story development, author did to ichika what ichika did to miku.
