What did you think of this ONA? I thought it was pretty good, especially how I got to see the good old gold saints. I just wish they went deeper into Norse Mythology by having more gods like Thor, Freya, Frey, Frigg, and Skadi.

Replying after almost a year lol

After such a long time, and especially after the disgraceful Saint Seiya Omega, it was nice to watch a Saint Seiya animation. Although this series was far from perfect, it was pleasant to see the golden saints portrayed in a more modern style. Definitely, more elements of Norse mythology could have been explored, and the narrative was too simplistic. Nonetheless, as a Saint Seiya fan, I am happy to take whatever Saint Seiya content they are willing to give us. As there is pretty much no more hope that they will ever finish the original series.

Was expecting cheap schlock (especially since I watched Saintia Shou before this), but honestly it was a pretty nice shot of fanservice. Definitely still had its problems -- the animation was pretty lacking, there was a lot of typical loose shounen logic, and a few of the Gold Saints didn't really get to shine -- but I'm pretty happy with it for what it was. For a single cour juggling 12 characters and an entire new conflict/the Asgardians, it did what it could.

Besides, if I couldn't swallow some cool nonsense I never would've made it through this series in the first place.

As someone who watched through this series over the past 3 years, it's a surprisingly satisfying place to end. Elysion didn't really feel like much of an ending anyways (not to mention the Heaven Chapter movie felt like pulling teeth), so I appreciate getting a little more time with the series. I definitely needed one last romp around with the Gold Saints.

Until I feel like reading all the manga someday, this'll sate me. Probably more of a 6/10, but I'm feeling generous and I solidly enjoyed it throughout, so 7/10.

Technically I still have Omega left but... do I really wanna watch ~100 episodes of Saint Seiya Boruto...

I think it was mid as fuck, but I still gave it a 7, because it's not complete garbage and it's physically impossible for me to score it any lower.

My final thoughts are that the franchise would greatly benefit from being handled by a company that isn't TOEI.
