So we see Lucius as a child, his grandfather and father built bathouses.

This was a set up episode, introducing the MC, his historic setting and his first mini trip to a different place.

Quite different from the short series, we shall see if that is a good or bad thing.

Also live action segment at the end with Manga-ka is a nice touch.
“I just spent the last two years thinking that you guys knew more than me about life and I just found out that you guys are just as dumb as me.” “Duh-doy.” “Yeah, duh-doy.”

I kind of hate this. The original was hilarious while this seems dragged out. And the animation is god awful, and not in a funny way like the original. I'm still watching it through but I'm pretty bummed about it.

I haven't touched on the original version but I'm pretty alright with a coloring style of the character design, it has a texture that really fits to the current era tbh.

Nice that we get to have a backstory about Little Lucious throughout his family, growth, and the historical aspect in this medium is very interesting.

Grandpa and Little Lucious going to the hot bath must be very refreshing but the 2 kids who messed with his Grandpa's lunch and now approaching him inside a men bath place really likes to mess with him.

Heh Little Lucious having to go to footstep to keep a joy by creating a bath through his relatives movement must be an aspiring story to hear.

Adulthood Lucious is now living a better life.

Oh wait now we have a documentary and the author of the series went to a further explanation to introduce the hot spring in Japan, I'm definitely getting the culture out of this and it's nice that she taking references from those places and be imaginative about it.

Really not a fan of the animation style, but I'm intrigued! Seems like a nice short watch and I love learning about random bits of history.

The animation is a bit unsmooth and weird? And it's surprising that they don't start the story with adult Lucius, but talk about his childhood first. The childhood story is pretty cliché, but it's still good learning more about his family and know that he has already time travelled before.

But I love the part after the animation where the original creator introducing Japanese Onsen culture. It's as if we were travelling right now with her. And I like her drawing on how Lucius would react to the manual cooling system at the end.

I first though everyone was dirty with the lines all over them, but then that continued with "the flat nosed slaves". It's funny that that and "Mr foreigner" would be racist with the woke crowd.

I also like the 2 minute clip at the end with the artist doing different things at onsens and also doing a drawing on a tablet which was cool to watch.

Kind of a dull first episode, not digging the random cgi background characters but the art is pretty nice for a netflix production

I totally agree. A lot of the charm from the original OVAs is lost especially in this first episode. If you've seen the OVAs, it really doesn't need a whole episode to set up the story. The audience doesn't need to be hand held or convinced of the plot. It's supposed to be a little silly and fun. The more serious tone of this version really loses some of the best humor.

I love the voice actor, but his voice doesn't really fit Lucius and makes him too stiff as well. The OVA voice actor did great as the character.

The one highlight is the short onsen experiences with the mangaka at the end of the episodes. I will continue to watch and hope it gets better, but this first episode really was a let down.

I highly recommend watching the OVAs. The animation for them is pretty limited but I personally think it adds to the overall humor of the story.

Bath house time machine. So Lucius has become a bath house architect like his grandfather and his father before him. I can't wait to see what kind of designs he comes up with in that particular time period. It was also nice seeing mangaka Yamazaki-san talking about hot springs culture in Japan.

IDK why Yamazaki-sensei reminds me of Mr. Suave Junichi. They're both talented people.

Certainly a lot more slice-of-life compared to the original which was quite comedic and short but lets see how bathhouse architect Lucius is gonna copy things from the flat-nosed slaves

That's actually really original I'm surprised, but I guess the isekai aspect will only happen later? I mean he got isekaied as a child but only during 1 min xD
Also I love how the author is trying the onsen during the live action part ahah
