What is up with all the fanservice?

Spoilers for the beginning half of episode 1 below.

Season 1 was awesome. Super wholesome and funny throughout, all until the last two episodes which, frankly, were the worst. But that was due to forced, overblown drama. Still, as a whole, season 1 was great.

I came into season 2 expecting more of the same and I dropped it after half an episode. Immediately into the episode we get bouts of random fanservice, and really weird scenes (fingering her mouth scene with the new female character).

Is season 2 just trash? I'm asking those that have read the source material. Is it just all downhill after season 1, or is the first episode just randomly bad?

I think it's reasonable for them to believe that just by adding some more lines to your frames, you could gain more fame (=earnings). And bec there are already so many fanservice animes, that they wouldn't even be marked as "strange" or something. Personally though, I completely agree to your opinion.

I don’t think that fanservice = trash. I think bad fanservice = trash. At least they are 22-26 year olds. But it technically fits with the theme of the first two episodes.

- Adrenaline/Oxytocin can be activated with stimulation. Which is common between couples.

The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

fanservice is a good thing, I don't know how you can say it's trash

im also not a fan of fanservice but holy shit it's ONE episode bro😭😭 we're not even 1/4 way through the show yet. and not like s1 didnt have fan service either?? its just more "intense" in the episode you're talking abt ig. and it makes sense, not really out of nowhere

Also wtf is up with your list. You are here talking about fan service while you like a lot of fan service shows and you have seen the 2nd and 3rd Kizumonogatari? Not the 1st? You also didn’t watch Bakemonogatari?

Stop judging anime on 1 episode as well as 1 episode does not really tell you much about a show.

The reason I'm freaking out over "one episode" is that I noticed an immediate shift in the anime. It wasn't just that one weird scene.

The opening song is way more fanservicey, and only really shows the female characters (much like most fan service shows). Within the first scene of the episode, there was zoom on the chick's legs and breasts. This is animation, so that zoom was purposeful and evidence of what was to come: more fanservice. And it did.

All this just seems like a hint the show is going the fanservice route, and that is a nope for me. If you guys like fanservice, fine. But not every show needs it, and this one was great for those of us that don't like it until season 2.

Completely agree. I could barely get through one episode. It was so tiring seeing the same joke over and over of "lewd girl acts lewd then her bf yells at her to stop". Even the parts without those two were pretty eh

fan service = trash? honestly your sentence makes me annoyed, are you people who never watch anime echi?
so it's so disturbed just because the scene that incidentally is still not hard echi..

rikekoi is an anime whose characters are not middle and high school students but are in college so it's clear their romance is more mature...

but this is not a fan service that is excessive like anime echi. so don't be a person who is too pretentious as if you've never watched echi anime

It has fanservice, and? What's your point? I don't mind fanservice and neither do so many anime fans. More importantly, neither do the Japanese so if you have problems with fanservice, move along and find an anime that doesn't have fanservice.

Interesting. I'm also against mindless fanservice. I'm yet to start this season, if its only for episode 1 I don't mind, since I know they must throw some kind of bait to gain more viewers (and hence get another season if possible).

I enjoyed the fanservice in the first two episodes, I enjoyed them just as much as episode 5 and 6. First half overall was really strong and the best arc in the story so far imo.
