Ah, about time they got into the story arc dealing with the spirit tortoise. It looks like Naofumi is also cautious about not losing track on their real goal as well.

It's also about time Ost Horai properly introduced herself. Good to also see Eclair in this show as her skills can be useful. Looks like this served more as a buildup episode for the next ones.

MADKID and Chiai Fujikawa are back with their OST, though not as "hype" as Season 1's.

The Spirit Tortoise is so badass evil, even the Four Cardinal Heroes (except Naofumi of course) didn't want in to just do their thing. The Seven Star Heroes chosen as vassals (some of them seen in Season 1), and one of them shows up: Ost Hourai of the Spirit Tortoise kingdom, a familiar, the king's concubine and regent of the tortoise that had its seal broken by some entity.

To think that the Spirit Tortoise would be the backup plan if Naofumi can't stop the Waves, that's Queen Fittoria's nuance justified enough for Naofumi to take action, because he can't wait and bother enough while war politics linger a bad sight of fame weighed against manpower and survival.

And so it is that Naofumi and gang, and the rest of the allied forces all prepare in tow to face the Spirit Tortoise, and its attack patterns beckons its call.

The lore reveal regarding the Spirit Tortoise was actually quite good. Much better than the first episode.

Just the second episode, and Naofumi already has too much to deal with thanks to that hood lady coming and revealing what she was up to last time. And seems like another new character joined the crew.

Was on board with OST here asking them to Introduce themselves. Especially Éclair whom I had no idea who that was as she just kind of showed up in the Episode.

This was better than the first episode, but also served as a build up for the next ones, so it was a relax episode with none fights, the OP an ED are good, but i dont feel the hype as the first ones, and visually speaking the OP is the worst one of the 3, finally we got introduce to Ost and also some of characters we should have known before as Eclair, that should have been presented in the first chapter.

Still worried because this could be rushed.

Finally Eclair and her potentiality will become a potential buildup!! Ost is hot ngl and expected she's voice by an ara ara voice actress mhm mhm. OP is kinda sus visually with all many aspects going lies on the skepticism behind the pacing is worrisome in the latter, Chiai Fujikawa's ED on the other hand is better than the previous season. There's a lie It's a countermeasure against the Spirit Tortoise, everyone gathers!

an episode of explanations! I give a positive point to Ost's personality: in the manga, it was a shallow and serious character! In the anime it was "something" for a kind and friendly person! I liked Ecleir's presentation, but I still prefer the manga... A very good episode!

Good to see Eclair back.

So that was more like a discuss episode or build-up.
Ost was the mysterious person.

I wonder why most of non Naofumi party members are either stupid or arrogant.

Anyway there are quite a lot of info about Spirit Tortoise, and it's nice.

Another 7 heroes (must be those strangers on OP), will they become ally of 4 heroes or instead traitors like those new 2 heroes in season 1? Can't wait for next episode.

Heading off to stop this spirit tortoise. These countries need some type of plan not just petty squabbling over whom gets the most credit or whom gets to defeat the spirit tortoise. Naofumi thinking the exact same way I would in that situation. Telling those bureaucrats to get their shit together if they want the shield hero help. All this posturing and politics is ridiculous while peoples lives are literally at stake. Naofumi was right to leave that meeting until they come up with an actual plan. Ost introducing her true self does complicate things. Not just some concubine or regent but am actual familiar of the spirit tortoise. A being made to cause war that way the spirit tortoise can absorb souls. By absorbing those souls it can stop the waves but it needs a lot. Even more cruel is that if the four cardinal heroes can't stop the waves head on their job would become the same as the spirit tortoise. To collect souls by killing people which would stop the waves. Its pretty messed up to think about. But the spirit tortoise didn't awaken on its own, someone brought it back for their own goals. We briefly see that someone inside the spirit tortoise. All the countries seemed to have come up with a good plan to pin the spirit tortoise down after Raphtalia convincing Naofumi to construct one with them. Raphtalia is always good at getting to the calmer side of Naofumi and getting him to see things differently. Now with that screech signaling the spirit tortoise is marching again, have to hope this plan works.

Felt like a bit of an info dump episode, followed by a little drama with the bickering of strategies.

I'm guessing there's some sort of major reveal with Ost later on?

They resort to anger baiting quite a bit to keep viewers engaged. Awful irredeemable or forgettable supporting character and antagonists is probably the weakest point of this series.

The 2 of them were probably the most interesting characters and I'm glad this arc ties back to them. Hopefully we get more of that in the coming episodes.

Oh man, I can't remember about the other heroes either, kinda want to go back to watch the first season but it would take too long, out of all the damn shows that get a recap episode and this is the one that doesn't.

Ost Horai at the reunion was pretty funny, saying what everyone already figured out and then well if you cute its head it will die, well gee thanks haha.

I like the new outfit, upgraded from a penguin to a Filolial.

I don't really understand how, in the span of one cut, how Naofumi not only got all the generals to agree with him, but to also follow his lead and command.

I’m not sure what to think about this. Honestly, I think that this is mostly build up, but that it’s kinda boring. Idc if there’s no action or anything, it just seemed very dull and predictable after Ost walked in. I will say though, it was a nice curveball they through putting her in there. I hope it gets a lot better from here though.

Pretty much a buildup episode as all the parties involved get ready to fight the Spirit Tortoise; I'm sure next episode should be exciting.

Idk if I like the OP that much, might have to give it a couple more listens. I think the songs from S1 were better.

I'm kind of lost. We saw in the first episode Naofumi traveling with his party to a city where the Turtoise' spirits attacked, and suddenly the whole army is there too? I thought he was on his own kind of thing. And then comes also the grandma and other people from his domain too?
And also that spirit came out and is introduced out of nowhere? A couple of generals thought she was a queen? Why wasn't there any background on this..

Bit of a boring episode this week, although it went by quick.

So I guess the tortoise is a sort of guardian in a way, and is meant to stop the waves. But at the cost of an immense amount of lives. Which almost makes it feel pointless to even try and stop the waves.

Ost seems somewhat fun. But I'm confused on why she asked Naofumi to kill her last week and then all of sudden she wants to help. What was the point of her saying that last week? It feels as if the show forgot about it entirely. I'm open to any theories or explanations from anyone.

Thats some aftereffect of that attack though. Given its size and the durability of its shell as well as its offense capability conventional means would be useless against it. The insight that there are other hero's present in the land aside from the four was interesting. Though its unfortunate that they seem to be of little help for them. OST turned out to be a much bigger deal than i thought. Its amusing seeing the kings argue over such trivia matters when clear leadership and strategy is needed the most. Though her intro during the training sub arc was better combining Eclair's intro with Ost as they work together was a good move. As ever Raphtalia's strong trust in Naofumi is heartwarming to see. The new equipment was welcome as well and would be especially useful in the upcoming battle. Overall a decent ep that covered quite a bit while introducing a surprisingly large amount of original content as well. Given how long the training sub arc was i expected them to cut it out anyway but its nice to see this confirmed. Looking forward to the battle.

Episode felt fast paced again, they introduced a lot of new concepts/characters in rapid fire motion. Hopefully we'll most likely see some action in the third episode. I haven't read the light novel only the manga and damm I still felt a bit lost, during this episode. It's unfortunate to see that high generals/commanders are fighting over who gets the glory rather than saving people. Naofumi's curse is that he's surrounded by selfish morons.

Also Raphtalia not knowing what she meant by "doing it" lmao I forgot she's literally a child.

Honestly, I like this episode more than the first one, even though this one was a lot more focused on the important info dump and the general build-up to dealing with the spirit tortoise.

I can't blame Naofumi for losing his cool during the war meeting, where the other generals were too busy trying to claim the role of the leader with their own armies, so his remarks were harsh, but spot on. Still, Raphtalia did the right thing in talking to him afterwards about it and convinced him to take the leading role himself.

The talk at the bonfire near the end of the episode was very amusing when it the talk got to Rishia's "romantic" interests in the bow hero and how Ost wanted to help her with some romantic advice that made Naofumi and the others laugh a bit with smug looks on their faces. I also love how Raphtalia didn't have a clue in what the others were talking about and I can't blame her for it, since she's still young herself, despite her appearance now. XD

Anyway, the spirit tortoise is now making a move, so I look forward to seeing how the allied army will launch its massive attack on the tortoise.

Just don’t think I’ll ever be able to get with the pacing. It’s great for anime only people, although I think this season will be less popular than the first, but this is my second fave LN series and the only one to make me actually cry. It’s impossible for me to separate the anime and LN.

There’s just too much skipped groundwork and the story being out of order in the anime makes it feel really disjointed. Like obviously no LN adaptation has all of the internal monologue, but a big part of naofumi’s character is the internal monologue and especially in this arc it’s very important to understand what’s going on.

Decent episode, was better than the first. Seemed like mostly lore stuff and setup for action in the next one which is perfectly fine imo, a series has to take the time to do those sometimes.

Though the 'hook' isn't as strong as the first season I'm still quite interested in seeing where this goes.

It's understandable how the meet up got into Naofumi's nerves. Everyone want to have credit for themselves and the Shield Hero was not having it. Glad it worked out in the end =v=

I swear, I sometimes forget Raphtalia is still mentally a child ^-^; When she questioned Naofumi what the lady spirit meant with those words, and it was a good thing it was cut short or it'll be awkward for him to try to explain it to her =D Her innocence is too pure I tell ya!

This episode was better than the first one. The nation's leaders have gather at the war summit to discuss on how to deal with the Spirit Tortoise. However, the leaders were too busy arguing about who was going to command the army, but Naofumi wasn't having that. Ost Hourai appears that the Spirit Tortoise was meant to be used as a last resort against the waves and some one revived it without telling anyone. The nation's leaders seem to put their pride aside and work with the Shield Hero, but the Spirit Tortoise seems to be on the move again.
