It’s an alternate timeline.

The very beginning of UBW and Heaven’s Feel are the same but after the very beginning the story is completely different.

The story was originally written for the visual novel game. The stories of UBW, FATE and HEAVEN'S FEEL stem from different choices made through the game. So take it as a set of what if stories.

it’s not really a recap and tbh i wish they did more explaining because a lot of things just happened it could have honestly been way better if they explained the story for new people or something but no it’s basically just showing the route while skipping the stuff the other seasons explained it’s a good trilogy movie but don’t expect it to tell you everything or explain well if it’s your first fate stay night go watch unlimited blade works or even old stay night then watch this in my opinion

other than what had been said above, the movies require concentration to watch properly. Pacing is so freaking fast that every little thing matters

It’s based on the fate visual novel, so stay night, ubw and heavens feel are the three different routes. Yeah the first film will have a lot of similarities but it will branch off quickly

I have watched them first but I'm still confused. What the hell is going on? Assassin is now that old man's Servant. I don't get why Sakura feels the danger in the battles while she sleeps. I don't know how Rider got revived
