I loved nichijou and imo it was an amazing comedy anime. All episodes are full of unexpected actions, randomness weird things and on top of that it was very well animated and i think that the art style of this show is absolutely amazing. All comedy animes that i watch really weren't that funny expect for Grand Blue (im planning to watch Saiki Kusuo and i have high expectations btw) nut other comedy animes were really repetitive and full of jokes like main character accidentally touching some girls boobs or "funny" faces, so i think that nichijou was really something different and not quite same as the other comedy animes. So what do yall think, is this really one of the best comedy animes out there or is it just meh?

[P.S. my english is really bad so im sorry if i made any grammar mistakes or something]

Nichijou is good sweet and soft anime. When i've watched it first time remain cool and warm feelings. Endings forced crying by me, it very cool and soulful.

I think it would be top 15 or 20 in the category, for most people. But theres a lot of higher quality titles like Gintama, bobobo, Saiki k, Arakawa under the bridge, Asobi asobase, Sakamoto, danshi koukousei, etc

It’s not meh, but I don’t think it’s a 9. Maybe my opinion would change after sometime. My preferred humor is Daily Life of High School Boys, Asobi Asobase, and K-On!, and even to some extent Jojo.

Nichijou is one of those shows where I feel you need to put in a good amount of effort to see where the humor is and where it’s going, and if you’re already in line with that kind of thing, great Nichijou should be amazing. It gives off the impression of being much grander than what it may seem to be. I just haven’t revisited it.

I agree. After I finished Nichijou, there hasn't been anything that I watched that was quite like it. The jokes can sometimes be a hit or miss, especially for those unfamiliar with the Japanese language and culture, but the ones that do hit, they hit! The over the top insanity of it all really makes it a blast, and it has nice slice of life moments to balance it out and explore and give depth to the characters. It's a great anime overall, the manga included. 10/10 for me personally. Also check out Azumanga Daioh, it has a few similarities.

Other comedy anime that I found funny were Kaguya-sama: Love is War, KonoSuba, and my personal recommendation: Osomatsu-san. Osomatsu-san was one of the only anime to actually make me burst out laughing, it's that funny for me. Imagine Nichijou but on 100x more crack. It's fucking great.

As for manga, check out the Grand Blue manga as well as Yotsuba-to.

There was this other one that at first comes off as a normal calm anime (the cover looks like it might be one of those "deep" stories if you know what I mean) including the OP, but then it just becomes absolutely hilarious but I forgot it's name.

edit: I remember now! It's Asobi Asobase lol

Grand Blue is also very funny. personally I think it is quite underrated. anime is already quite funny but imo manga does it better cause of the artwork, it is top notch 🔥

Yeah, there's a reason I gave Nichijou a 10/10. Every single episode had me cracking up, and some of the hardest times I've ever laughed were watching this show. Just the fact that they'll have this 12 minute long build up sequence just for a punchline about
, and then also a scene where it's a five second bit of a guy
is excellent.

I'm currently slowly getting my sister to watch it with me, and it's great since it's been like 2 years since I first binged it.

P.S.
Mai best girl

For the concentrated ecchi part of humour, you can check Seitokai Yakuimnomo. It is purely ecchi jokes but done very well. It was one of those anime where they don't just depend on accidental happenings. They even make a joke about in a episode. So for great ecchi comedy, I would personally recommend Seitokai Yakuimnomo.

Most of the Animes people mention as comedy is really bad but this was really good
Comedy is one of these genres who have very few good shows unfortunately

Comedy is subjective, so Everyone will have a different opinion.

If a show manages to be funny to a large group of people, which Nichijou managed to do, then it has done something right. I did find other shows funnier than Nichijou (Danshi Koukousei, Asobi Asobase, Grand Blue, Panty and Stocking, Seitokai Yakuindomo), but i do think it is one of the best to ever be created imo, both in source material and adaptation.

There are parts of this show I dont think I'll ever forget, like the Shrine scene or the Reindeer scene.

Aside from the puns, language/cultural barrier really isn't the issue. When it aired in Japan, lots of 2ch posters were saying they didn't get the humor, were saying the show had "cold jokes" (meaning flat, unfunny jokes), etc.

KyoAni adapted most things pretty faithfully, which is a problem here because the source material is pretty hit & miss as a comedy. So the show relies a lot of extreme bumps in animation quality and VOICE ACTORS CONSTANTLY SCREAMING to sell how WACKY AND HILARIOUS the situations are.

There are some laughs here and there, but there are comedies that generate more laughs with much less budget and effort. People pick up on this and so you'll see a lot of people calling the show awkward and tryhard.
