When we first met Dia, excluding the non-canon first episode, she was a capable and strong and intelligent Onee-chan. Fast-forward 10 episodes, who was once an independent girl became a damsel in distress waiting for her knight in shiny armor to save her from her predicament? Not only that she is the oldest among the main girls and her physical assets leave much to be desired. It seems like her potential to be a good character is done and dusted like that chest.

IIRC there’s only 5 Volumes so far (3 of those translated to English), only 1 Volume was adapted.
With that in mind, Episode 1 and Episode 10, original content, 10 Episodes total to cover just 1 Volume. Good pacing.
Where am I going with this?
Regarding your statement, yes and no.
Yes waisted potential in Anime and no waisted potential in the story since this is still just the prologue.
More of their characters and growth is explored as the plot moves forward (For obvious reasons)
Dia is not really a damsel waiting to be rescued but it will depend if this gets another season to see it animated.
Granted while she is the wisest and strongest (Mana) among the 3, she is also the childish small chested character trope.
Plot wise she is the main heroine due to Silver Hair Supremacy.

This was outta pocket. You were making good points about narrative and character development, then you bust out the measuring tape?

The show already explained why she can't win this battle by her own - and it's not because she can only be a damsel in distress waiting for her knight.

She can hold out against her enemies while protecting her own people - BUT even if she win this battle, the reinforcement will come, making it an endless battle. That's why the outside help is needed.

she's doing nothing because the story doesn't know how to handle characters not directly working alongside to the MC.

I'm sure once she's rescued and her death is faked, she'll be recruited into the main crew and become relevant again

And I am glad that SJWshit/gamergate cancer didn't ruin anime yet. Gaming is already destroyed.

The lack of physical assets is actually a plot convenience. It's so they bait you with her as the main love interest but hit you with the switch of she's going to live as MCs younger sister. It's the series post credit scene.
