This episode is as Uncle Roger will say: Hmm...PLOT TWIST!

All 9 girls are being nervous for the results...and this episode sure be a tease because it prolongs the actual results bit by bit. And unsurprisingly, everyone voted for each other which showed their bonds, friendship and camaraderie...that ALL 9 girls were disqualified according to the hard-and-fast rules. Welp, that was a "surprise" which I half-kinda expected. See you in Season 8, I guess. But it's nice to have the cameos of the previously qualified girls in Episode 1 and 2.

In that sense, all 9 girls take a breather out on their own agendas back at home. Rena and Suzune visiting the former's house whom the latter was a huge fan of, and Rena's house like Suzune's is full of Akari merch, which Suzune is undoubtedly the bigger stan of a fan. The rest of the girls spent time back with their families, and time skipped by quite some time before they all meet back in Tokyo.

Even without Selection Project, Rena believes that all of them would be able to branch out in their own groups (hers has unfortunately died out with the results), but not before ganging up with a song composition that signifies all of their "I wanna sing" spirits together under their new group name 9-tie.

But for Rena, the memories of her deceased older sister Akari hasn't fully swept away. While Rena has always found herself under the constant shadow of Akari on the reality show, Suzune and the encouraging her to find her own voice to sing together is a sweet moment. Rena has supported Suzune once with the heart surgery drama, and Suzune repays that favour with holding fast to the singing dream with Rena.

This week's episode title is quite apt: "I Just Want to Sing". I can confidently say that finally, FINALLY, Selection Project has separated itself from Idoly Pride well-roundedly. Arguably the most important episode in the series, executed perfectly.

"Our Dream Will Come True One Day", looking forward to hearing the song.

Still a 7 at best because of the whole wonky copy-paste Idoly Pride plot.

now it's voting time anyway but I feel like they'll pull out something stupid like all the members voting for someone different so it won't work or something like that xD

Lol... it really reached that point where the plot is becoming that stupid :S anyway now they're singing all together (9tie) even though Rena didn't want to sing at first but eventually joined... and they all got eliminated because of that voting manipulation, not sure of what plan to do the selection project admins though

My two cents prediction. Two of them will be eliminated but they will be able to return to the audition from a special redemption round or something like that. Or each of them will get one vote each and the result will end in a draw. In my opinion, Rena will write her name on that voting ballot and if the rest of them write their names on the ballot, everyone will get one point each and it will end in a draw. Let's see.........

Ahhhh.... yeeaahhhhh....... I knew it..... Each of them has voted for themself and the result was ended in a draw with everyone got one vote each.
However, well their dreams were not ended yet. They formed a new group, 9tie, and started to do the idol activities on their own. This sounds so familiar... Anyway, I hope they will gain more fanbases and supporters soon.

Already expected the vote manipulation, but not the disqualification.

"9-Tie", or "kyu-tie" is a nice pun (Cutie) :P

During the Sepis montage, one of Mistress' designs reminded me a lot of the idol outfit of 22/7.

Hmm surprisingly Selection Project broke away from Idoly Pride and awakened its quirky 22/7 side, but I'm confused myself, because there is an additional plot twist after the credits.

Finally, thank you scriptwriter for not continuing to try to identify with Idoly Pride, but don't take the story to a weird direction.

Remember, Wonder Egg Priority fell because of this kind of problem.

The vote was expected but I didn't expect them to cancel the show XD.

Great to see the girls have changed a bit in their own way.

Those posters of Akari are on the photo album in the ending song. That's kind of neat.

The girls may have all lost there shot in Selection Project but they basically said "Screw the rules. We'll make our own idol group".

9-tie has finally been introduced in the anime. The name is kinda clever. I find it funny that Rena is the one that came up with it considering she had her thoughts about not joining them.

With 3 episodes to go, what shall the girls do.

I wasn't expecting them all getting eliminated since they seemed to be extremely popular. They all passed the cheers requirements in the previous rounds, which was completely unprecedented and showed that the fans love them a lot. So, I thought it was weird for the producers to eliminate everyone. Did they just think "Looks like we have the most popular season ever. I guess the best path is to end the season abruptly with no winners."?
Other than that, it's cool to see the girls outside of the show. They are a great team, and I think they are going to be really popular if the cheerers still like them. I find it funny that the girls are all over Japan, and they have to constantly travel to each other. Who's covering all of the transportation costs?
I'm curious what the executives are going to do. If they were as popular as I thought, they probably lost out on a cash cow. So, there might be an attempt to get them back. We only have 2 episodes left, so it might be a little hard.

Best episode so far IMO. Even if it didn't make me cry and it wasn't necessarily groundbreaking, it was still beautiful and touching.

I'm probably just talking out of my ass at this point, but I'm gonna say this anyways: Rena has always had a mental burden of not feeling like she truly deserved a dream for herself to sing and dance and be with the rest of the group on the same stage. But the times she spent with the group wasn't for naught, even if she didn't properly open up to them at the time. In reality, chasing after her sister was more of an excuse; after becoming a big fan of her back then, she genuinely did want to sing, even if it's not the same sort of love for it like with the other girls.

The whole part where they all essentially voted themselves off via disqualification from all of them tying was something I actually wasn't expecting at all, and I'm actually fine with the premise of competition no longer being relevant, because I don't think it was ever a main focus, anyways. As with any idol series, I feel like a main strength they have will almost always be in the characters themselves, as like with here in Selection Project.

It sucks that this will continually be criticized merely because of its initial premise being technically similar to Idoly Pride, even though it's fundamentally not so.

What a boss move. Everyone voting themselves out was the most obvious thing. But nuking the entire season near it's climax was a Thanos snapping his fingers in infinity war level boss move by the studio. Love it.

They dragged it out a bit though. Imagine if they announced it at the start and the girls practiced for the rest of the episode and instead of only 1 yell, the ending song was their street performance and the series ended with this 10th ep

Great episode! So everyone had one vote each and they all got disqualified therefore ending the show! I found that pretty weird to be honest...
In the end, it seems like the group are going to make one last song together and even Rena was convinced to sing again!

Looking forward to the next episode!

With all 9 of the girls getting one vote each, Selection Project season 7 has come to an end with no winners...had a feeling something like this was going to happen~

That doesn’t stop them though, forming 9-tie (it sounds like ‘cutie’ when read in Japanese, wonder if it was on purpose) and performing weekly. Their new song is pretty neat from what little we could hear

Glad to see a little more of everyone’s families and more development of the relationship between Suzune and Rena ^^

rena gets this episode's ED... nice to see how rena/rival-chan isn't focused on rivals now and actually decides that she wants to sing. I had a feeling that 2 people wouldn't get eliminated (because plot armor) but didn't really expect all of them to get disqualified. Not sure how the last 3 episodes will go now but I'm looking forward to them.

edit: I also love the fact that 9-tie (kyu-tie) is cutie lmao

All I wish for now, is a 1 vote tie between all 9 of them... and I feel like that's likely going to happen but I love to be proven wrong.

I did not expect them to actually get disqualified, that there would be a grey area in the rules of the show that would allow this to happen instead... But nope.

So they are just making their own group, good on them and it took them quite a bit of energy to work out meeting up together to practice. They are from 9 different areas after all. Rena needed a little more convincing to also sing with the rest of them. Otherwise the name 9-tie makes no damn sense. The name is actually pretty damn smart.

Ok the whole they all vote for themselves thing was to be expected, but they actually went ahead and disqualified them all? lmao what a fukin joke of a company. Why even bother trying to build an idol group if you're going to purposefully force them to be toxic and reject them otherwise

but damn, now that there are no more rivals anymore what does Rival-chan become? Friends-chan? Sister-chan? no longer edgy-chan?either way if the entire series focused around her I would not complain one bit, legit the only bearable member (apart from heart problems-chan) in this shitty group lol

Best episode in a while, even if it's not saying much. Had some emotional punch, especially since we could see how the girls grew when it showed them reunited with their families (or DATE in the case of Hiromi... that was super cute!!). Even the stuff with Rena was done well. Hope it stays like this for the next final episodes.

Just as I predicted, the girls hijacked the rules and basically turned it against the SelePeo organizers. Good on the girls indeed.

Finally SelPro is diverging from the usual idol shows. The Idoly Pride references might have helped them in the first half, but this episode really defined the show as a class of its own. Just like 9-tie, I'm a big fan on media productions that define its own rules for the passion and for the art. "I Just Want To Sing" is my favorite episode so far, and I can't wait to see how 9-tie will make themselves known as their own idol unit, and not as the revolutionaries who upstaged SelePro Season 7.

Now to some details: seeing Hiromi in a quite close yuri relationship with her kouhai is just cute. And Uta-sensei is really a pro, being able to write songs, become an instrumentalist, and be able to use DAWs (seems that she's using Ableton BTW, noiiceeee). Also Princess Shiori has a future as a fashion designer (the uniform look reminds me of 22/7 and the school outfit of Nogizaka46) and Rena can work both as a singer and as the unit manager too (she just has the manager vibes surrounding her in this episode, especially when she first revealed her suggestion to the group).

Also the montage of seeing the girls work remotely made me laugh hard, seeing that THIS is how we've been working for two years now.

So, Episode 10 is a 10/10.

Finally, I failed in guessing the ED singer again. Last time I thought it would be Ao (but then it's Nodoka), and this time it's Rena (thinking it was Ao). So it seems that Ao will have a key role in the next episode?

Well at least they got rid of the SelePro tournament thing which was happening; I wasn't much a fan of it. What's weird is that we aren't actually getting any comment from the organizers of SelePro itself (not just the mascot and the woman)...? can we get some closure on that during the last 3 eps?

not liking how Rena is finding something to be crying about like every episode. like come on. Yes this ep is just building off of what was happening with her the last few eps, but is it necessary for more emotional junk again? And for it to be solved like that with a mere snap of fingers? cool...

9-tie, kyu-tie, cutie. Never though it'd be read like that. New song they're making doesn't seem to be Glorious Days

Yknow I was expecting them to vote for themselves cause we all know they were against voting against the other cause of the bond that got built up, but damn I did not expect all of them to get disqualified, I was expecting something more like the voting was a test itself and that the purpose of it was for them to vote for themselves to strengthen their bond as the end goal was actually to build an idol group, glad that didnt turn out to be the case, the again we still got 3 eps, that still may be the goal of the sele pro team to see if they will give up or still continue to pursue their dreams.
Anyways I cannot wait for the next song they’re planning to make, one great thing about this anime is that the songs are very catchy. Please let their dance be a full on 2D animated one like “naked blue” and not CGI.

Yeah, pretty sure i just miss the disqualification part of the rule, and really caught me off guard a little, thinking that its Suzune and Rena that got out. But as expected too, they are still together, because that's how the usual idol show is always be. Lmao. Still, i must say that the parents of the girls were so supportive and tender, not even drama acquired to stop their daughter to do whatever they want, far from their home. Look at how Uta's mother almost did the make a sense action. I really hope there's some commentary regarding what they did. Because i really think it may become more interesting for the story rather than just that. But instead, nope, guys. Lets let them all have a fun, because the plot still need them to dance and sing!

Idk if that's ever happened real life; being disqualified from the idol competition, but still decided to keep the group up and together sing and dance at the sidewalk, even after the competition. If someone wanna enlighten ill be glad to receiving the information.

Beside that, this is definitely a beyond my imagination episode. Keep em wild, sepro!

Every single idol member choosing to vote themselves off as a way of sticking it to the man— and getting disqualified in the process was a legitimately good turning point. With that, all 9 members push on into indie territory in hopes of cultivating an audience that way. Better yet, Rena has decided that she'll be singing with the group after much consideration.

Well, girls decided to sabotage the vote, because of their MLP bullshit, and fucked up the whole show for everyone. I bet the viewers were pissed when their favorite show was cancelled in the middle. Now people don't care about them anymore, because they betrayed everyone. Seira was shocked and pissed too. Nice job.
I'm sure that Nagisa hates them all, because she is the only one who was ready to play rough. But one can't stop the whole bunch.
So their asses were thrown outta show and now they are trying to create self-promoted idol unit.
That's where show turns 180 degrees and gets REALLY boring. Instead of cool reality-show drive now that's just the show about some girls who want to become an idol group.
