This just seems like gay horimiya, that’s kinda of the vibes I’m getting from this. Edit: since a lot of people are saying “tHeY aRe nOt tHe sAmE” (not saying they are) And keep coming at me for making this comparison, people need to realize that this was just my first impression of looking at the synopsis and the visual. Also this comparison actually makes sense because 1. Horimiya was literally called “Hori-san to Miyamura-kun” when it was a webcomic. Basically “Horimiya” is a combination of that lmao 2. Orange hair protag (Hori has brown hair mb but the point is to point out a repeating trope I see in SOL or romance anime is one character would have dark hair while the other would have a light shade of hair.) and black hair protag 3. Both are quite literally romance cmon now bruh. So is it really wrong to say “gay horimiya?” especially since I’m not even basing it off the characters themselves but the similarities between the titles, the aesthetics and genres? |

I get being curious, but how can you have a relationship if you can't try to put some trust in your partner? Or try to talk it out? She has to go stalker mode. Also the fact that hori said if they broke up, Miyamura can't date a man, he has to date a woman.... it's just her whole character is like someone trying to make a badass female character but she comes across as controlling and toxic. |

Making jokes about how uncomfortable Miyamura is about Hori's kink, isn't funny. Or her being very extreme when he talks to someone of a different sex, isn't funny. Her hitting him, isn't funny. It's very toxic. I know its an anime, but the fact that people find it funny and the author made it in the vibe to be funny, is off putting. |

Also about hori telling her bf to not date men it’s bc she knew she can’t compete with them. It’s alright for couples to get jealous, it’s alright for them to explore and try what the other partner is into- besides, hori stopped forcing miyamura into her weird kinks. It’s fine to say that horimiya isn’t your favorite anime or that you didn’t enjoy it, but don’t call their relationship toxic bc it’s not. What do you mean? Sasaki is so different than Miyamura. Miyamura is timid with low self-esteem and his face looks quite feminine. On the other hand, Sasaki is very cheerful, delinquent-like, and has a manlier face and built. Sasaki is closer to Hori's father than Miyamura. |

Psychologically, there's a limit to toxicity in relationship. People can have opinions on how they want to see the relationship. But realistically, there may be red flags that some people are seeing, as to why they are calling Hori "toxic". In many circumstances, it's understandable why people are seeing and are aware of possible red flags on other people's relationship. If you are going to call a character toxic or innocent, might have to research first before completely assuming so. Whether you would like to compare mangas and anime like Horimiya and Sasaki to Miyano. Please do a bit of research on what's actually healthy or not in relationships. This is only my suggestion, though. I am also just sharing my views on what others' thoughts in both Sasaki to Miyano and Horimiya in comparison. when I said research first before making assumptions, I mean it. It can cause harm or unhealthy influence whether you're aware of relationship flags or not. For other things to clarify, I apologize if my words sound harsh. It is not my intention. I would just like to clear things up on what is healthy and not. |

Whoever gets strange vibes etc. from this series and didn't actually read source material I can say one thing - don't worry. It's super wholesome and I would recommend it for someone who likes BL. There isn't any uncomfortable/forced stuff and there isn't even any kinky moment's maybe except some kisses About this part "This just seems like gay horimiya" - no, it isn't at all. |

Dude, you haven’t even watched it. The manga is quite different from HoriMiya. of course they're not exactly the same, but the overall genres, vibes, and interactions within definitely have some resemblance In this case we can say all of the anime in the genre are similar And yeah due to their genre they have similar elements but the characters and the chemistry between them are different which is more important when we talk about romance anime And also their interactions are not similar at allll Having piercings doesn't mean having the same personalities |

SaaajE said: firstly, obviously horimiya and sasamiya have different plots and different characters. They are not the same. But they do share a number of similar elements that give the shows the same vibe, which is what this thread is about. please give me an example of another brightly colored, chill, short form based romcom that is also not classified as shoujo. belka1213 said: SaaajE said: Why did some people compare it to Horimiya ? /: They have nothing in common -_- of course they're not exactly the same, but the overall genres, vibes, and interactions within definitely have some resemblance In this case we can say all of the anime in the genre are similar And yeah due to their genre they have similar elements but the characters and the chemistry between them are different which is more important when we talk about romance anime And also their interactions are not similar at allll Having piercings doesn't mean having the same personalities Also, I knew I didn’t make it clear enough, but by similar character interactions, I meant that there is a focus on how the characters interact w both their romantic interests and their friends. |

I don't think sasaki to miyano is the same to horimiya. I don't Even think the design of the characters is similar. First of all the dynamics of the relationship is completely different. The personalities are not similar. Horimiya is more like the popular girl meets the introvert guy who turned out to be hot. Sasaki to miyano is more like the senpai meets his kouhai, they become Friends and after a while they develop love in their relationship. Anyways I do agree that the art is similar. |

Now I can not really undertand the main point of this kinds of pools that only judge without knowing anything about the manga source. It's not the same as Horimiya, far away not even close. If you are comparing the leads similarities with other shows where the male lead has brown hair and the female lead a clair or blond one then that happens on any show you can see out there!! Guys please first check the source and then the job animated and talk, stop blabbering no sense without trully know something. |

SaaajE said: ur examples r kinda similar, the only thing is that Komi-san, the closest example u have here (short form, chill, bright, high school comedy) isn’t labeled as romance. (Not taking into account that none of ur other examples are in highschool, which I find important) takagi-san doesn’t have the chill vibe bc it’s really focused on comedy, and wotakoi and tonikawa don’t have the short form based episode format that komi-san, takagi-san, horimiya, and sasamiya havebelka1213 said: SaaajE said: belka1213 said: SaaajE said: why isn't it? both are romcoms made from short-form style manga. the colors in both anime are bright and the overall vibes for both series are fluffy and chill apart from the occasional melodrama. there are a number of other high school friends who will sometimes get the spotlight with their romances or issues. Why did some people compare it to Horimiya ? /: They have nothing in common -_- of course they're not exactly the same, but the overall genres, vibes, and interactions within definitely have some resemblance In this case we can say all of the anime in the genre are similar And yeah due to their genre they have similar elements but the characters and the chemistry between them are different which is more important when we talk about romance anime And also their interactions are not similar at allll Having piercings doesn't mean having the same personalities Also, I knew I didn’t make it clear enough, but by similar character interactions, I meant that there is a focus on how the characters interact w both their romantic interests and their friends. I'm not sure what you're trying to say by comparing/giving your first impression on both shows, but all I want is for the show to focus more on the main leads and for us to get some story out of it. While I liked Horimiya, it focused on many things and got us distracted from the main romance. I am expecting Sasaki to Miyano to be better in that regard and give us some story and more attention to the MCs. |

TinaTunaTina said: Horimiya is pretty toxic, especially hori. This couple is a lot more sweeter and wholesome lol If he talks to another girl, she goes pyscho crazy and thinks he is cheating on her. I totally agree tbh, it really put me off to know that even though it was such a big romance anime, that the relationship itself isn't very healthy or ideal. Like their relationship seems more forced than anything and I feel as if they easily could have just made it a SOL where they weren't romantically involved and it would have been better xD She's super insecure and doesn't feel like her crush/life of him is enough, but that doesn't justify like you said, low key homophobia, blatant jealousy over literally anyone else talking to him- it ain't a good fit for her, and if she's that worried she needs to work on herself. Sasaki and Miyano are nothing like that, and most of the manga is a slow burn of them getting to know one another's interests naturally and liking each other as people beforehand! It's a really healthy relationship and explores how romance can be portrayed in a new way! |
