| When you think about the context, there's no problem with recaps. We musn't forget that "back in the day" this aired on TV and that was your only way of watching it. So at the time, it was probably nice to have a little recap of the previous bossfights. Hell, probably new people started watching that "hot new anime that was being aired" and hadn't seen the previous battles. But, there's nothing new here. Except for the 4 bosses that got shown in the very beginning of the episode and the 30 second summary of Shin's previous battles, it's all recap. I think the recap of Ken and Yuria's separation was unnecessary. That Joker guy though, always at the right places at the right time. Nothing slips by that character. |

| A long series like Hokuto no Ken would have a filler episode sooner or later. But I didn't think there'd be one so soon. At the very least, I expected one recap episode to come before Ken and Shin's final confrontation. The above comment is right. Even though people hate recap episodes now, these were probably very useful back in the day since even home video releases were rare back then. There isn't really much to talk about in this episode. Nothing really happened. |
