Welp, this was a cherry peaceful episode for Rio and his adventure.

It's too bad they just had to add some drama into the peace and quiet. On the other hand, we got to see a lot of Ruri's personality and he seems like a geninuely kind person willing to help others including Rio.

Rio, now donning the signature SAO costume, and wandering off on his own in the Yagumo Region to find his parents. Chancing upon a village, while he did find his grandmother Yuba, his parents unfortunately were already did due to certain reasons that they cannot divulge untiil the time is right. So even Rio's family lineage is a trade secret, what gives though.

Ruri and Sayo are in status Rio's sisters, and the extended family is quite the size. The children can also use Spirit Arts, though comparing them to Rio is a hedgefest. It doesn't get long for Rio to get used to the new life, from doing housework to hunting. Welp, even Shin shows favouritism towards his own sister, and Rio is earning harem points being a chad.

The internal fight with some hooligans led by Gon, and Shin is more like the weakling acting on instinct. The best that he could do is to protect them, and Rio provides some help knowing trouble will come. Thankfully with the tax collectors, everything is fine.

Well, the whole SAO rape scene imitation was condensed to mere coincidences to stop Gon from raping Ruri and Sayo. Justice is served for this lowlife, but Rio will have more moments like this in the future, sharing memories with Haruto. Out of behaviour, but he saved the day.

A minute in and two waifus added to his list.. Well they're his cousins but whatever.
The head of the village is the grandmother of Rio. That was unexpected but seems like he got some information on his parents. Great news for him.

Ruri walked in in a fanservice-way. They're both able to use Spirit Arts but Rio's levels higher than them. His living a new life. Doing taily tasks and stuff like that. Pretty normal life until Gon arrives. And he pretty much deserved to end up like that.

SAO..
Also, I noticed that Rio's mother looks the same as the purple-haired spirit. coincidence or not..

As much as I love to praise this episode, I will whine for a bit.
How Rio came to the village real quick was boring and there's not even a "this is how Rio traveled scenes" and it skipped it altogether but looking at the Manga (idk about the LN) there's no such thing and I was hoping there were some.

While I do adore that the two of them, Grandma and Grandson finally saw each other, there was not much information about his parents given in this episode.

There were certain scenes that I really love in the manga AT THIS POINT and each of them are very important piece of information how Rio used his power however the things Rio did here wasn't given much explanation or detail how he did every bit of his action (some of them), which makes this episode a bit frustrating and annoying to watch. If they skipped now how Rio used his skills, they would probably not animate it later but I really like how from the earlier episodes Rio used his skills even if it's slow. Despite that, I am glad that the two girls was saved before being assaulted, that scum needs to be punished!

Lastly, there were so many fan service that I doubt I remembered being there but overall, I liked it and hope for the next episode.
CrazyButNot4UAug 16, 2021 11:13 PM
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Rio has reached Yanome and he met the elder from the village who was actually his grandmother. Some pretty usual stuff. Rio helping out everyone in the village and impressing girls here and there. Some troublemakers came in and got destroyed by Rio. You don't put hands on a girl around Rio.

It was a rather peaceful episode but the ending was a bit dark since Rio couldn't hold his urge to kill him, I guess.

I’m so glad Rio finally found some family and a place where he belongs. Ruri and Sayo’s seiyuus are great too. Like the natural tone they had throughout the ep.

Bit tired of the sexual assault trope being used as a device to make you dislike characters, but I’m glad Rio was able to stop Gon before he did anything.

Too bad they make the "Rio beating shit out of Gon quite tame." It's one of the scene im looking forward, but quite disappointed on how they make it tame compared to the LN.

As far as I remember Rio just make an Earth Wall not a freaking Hot Spring, and after a month or so is when he make a hot spring by carpentry since the dwarves from Spirit Village teach him carpentry, but atleast the Original Scene after Rio beating Gon is done right.

Rapist guy showing up when there is the tax controller and other important people in the house... Probably missing their whole brain.
If these guy are as much of a threat, then, how come they are authorized to be in the village at all and how come no one is guarding them ?

Sometimes, I wonder, if the hero doesn't show up, "what would happen if they actually managed to rape them" ?
Just hoping no one notice and no one gonna say anything ?
Instead, the idiot could just play the nice guy and get married with her (as a "political marriage"), then...
But, ok, at least the beating was nice. Wasn't expecting Kirito to step on his throat. They deserved it.

A good episode, although I still don't understand the two personality thing. Like yeah he wanted to kill people two different times, but this one is a Rapist and the other one is a murderer. And in his past life he was just a random 20 year old college student or whatever it's not like he's a killer. And in this world he was a poor kid aho dealt with tragedy and through some good fortune for once born from that, he got to go to a fine Academy and meet a wonderful person (Celia, miss her a bunch) who helped him so much and formed a great relationship with him. So what is this murderer stuff he's got going on? Honestly there is probably a lot percentage of people who HAVEN'T thought about killing someone at one point or another, and if they had someone they love nearly raped and they witnessed it or a family member killed unless they were literal saints I'm pretty sure even those would feel the same, right?

Also I thought the girl in the village was the reincarnate of the girl he promised with the way he was telling the story and they were panning to her (and they look similar from a shot I saw). And thought imagine how shitty that'd be to have your love reincarnated as a family member!? (I wasn't exactly sure the situation with those other two but aren't they related to his grandmother so they are related to him right? And the brother?)

the Rio guy seems just too perfect in every aspect. this type of protagonist is just less and less relate-able as the story goes on. I'd rather Rio killed the assaulter guy or at least seriously and permanently incapacitated him. I mean give the protagonist some genuine dark side or whatever. who needs this always so perfect shujinko that even can't snap and go on a rampage properly

Well this is a terrible adaptation of the light novel and the animation has been subpar thus far, however it’s great that a lot of people are enjoying this series. The light novels are great and such a ride. I’m definitely not hating if people enjoy this, just coming from someone who has read all 15 translated novels, I’m definitely a little sad. I’m hoping for good things from this though!

I am surprised that after 7 episodes, he has found the place his parents came from and found actual relatives that are alive and well. I wonder if now it's just going to be a case of staying in the village till grandma decides it's time to tell him what he needs to know. (I can feel a time skip coming next episode)

Two new additions to the harem, Ruri and Sayo. Gotta say though, Ruri has a surprisingly nice voice. It really felt different and I've not heard this voice before, so I was pretty surprised to hear it.

I love how Rio just casually made a bath house with spirit arts. That's quite the flex.

So glad Rio punched that dude's face in. I did crack up when the guy tried to tackle Rio but he fell down to the ground himself. He had it coming, utter scum.

While I do appreciate your sentiment, I didn't spoil anything, I only said it in a general way without giving any specifics. If you can read it right, you can only discuss the manga only at this point of the episode and not beyond it.

P.S. I didn't mean the hot bath or the story beyond this episode and not the whole Manga lol πŸ˜…πŸ˜ and it may be my fault for not wording my messages right and you may simply be confused of what I really wanted to say, my bad. πŸ˜…πŸ˜πŸ˜Ž I already updated it.

I did like this episode significantly more than the last ones. After Rio left the kingdom, it totally felt like it was setting things up for another thing that happened for something kind of insignificant later. It was boring. This episode was good though, since things happened. No matter how much like SAO it really is I like it relatively well. At least it didn’t make me want to throw my phone through a wall
also, why such a pause between punches? it makes it look unrealistic

Actually a really good episode. Ruri had to learn the hard way to make sure she's dressed appropriatly now lol.

Damn rape vibes halfway though the episode. Thank god for the GOAT RIO!!!

Yagumo village is nice. Although in typical anime fashion...Grandma can't tell Rio why his parents had to leave and she will probably tell him when he leaves the village or when she is on her death bed.

Is it just me or was this like an incredible ep????? The plot and arc throughout were really engaging and so were all the new characters, there was some great story and character development, the voice acting seemed extra good this ep too - especially Ruri, and I also thought the dialogue seemed really solid. I felt like this went against a ton of tropes as well, I kept seeing scenes and thinking "oh I've seen this a million times before" but every time it defied my expectations in the best way possible. Very impressed with this episode.

Overall Rio's a badass, he built a freaking bath man!

I was hoping they would reach the point of the story where Rio would lose control of his anger (which it did) because I love it when characters like him go all out and completely demolish people who were planning to hurt someone they care about.

This episode was excellent, for the limitations it has. It didn't fully cover the manga in all the details, but it portrayed the emotions decently and covered all of the important parts the best it could. I love this arc, and I cannot wait for the next episode.

So while there still is alot of cliches in this series. (Which honestly it's hard for any isekai not to do nowadays.) I did enjoy this episode much more then the last two. As it combined bits of his past from both his lives into shaping something a little different. I haven't read the LN or Manga yet for this one but probably will now. It was interesting though with that ending and him saying it didn't feel like him but the person that existed before he did. Which I hope the series plays into this more, because rarely do we ever have isekai that actually focus on parts of the person's past life. It's always deemed by most series start as not important anymore. Also I feel a line glossed over was when Gon mentioned about their only being one heir, I was half expecting Rio or his grandmother to break the news that hey there's actually another heir to add more tension between the villages.

Pretty good episode! I really like Rio as a protagonist, what a chad and he takes no shit from anyone. Benefits of having an op protagonist. Rio tripping that rapist fucker was hilarious. The Grandma and the village must have not known about Rio, cause it's weird that they didn't come looking for him when his parents died.

We've only met Ruri this episode but definitely love her a lot already especially her voice. So seeing that asshole rapist get beat up was euphoric. Also nice that that tax collector man was a nice dude, hope that dude stays in prison. A shame Rio's leaving behind all these waifus, though if one leaves, multiple more will take it's place like a hydra lmao. Rio making girls wet left and right, Jesus. Looking forward to the next episode.

The sexual assault scene was used to reawaken Rio's personality and past grudges, as he has been behaving more like Haruto. This scene reminded him of what happened to his mother and gave him the last push to seek revenge for it.
