This is a great Director's Cut theatrical compilation of the TV anime that aired in Spring last year, the important bits condensed into a 78-minute film.

About the new arranged ending though...(starts at the 63:30 mark)

I never saw the series and so this is my only exposure to this story. The movie seemed to jump a lot between seriousness and comedy in the same scenes. This happened a lot at the later point in the movie and I didn't enjoy it very much. Either make me chuckle or cry but not in the same 15 second span of time. The end story of the mother was nicely laid out and would have been great but by that time, I just kept waiting for another "editor makes a joke" to happen. 6/10 for a score.

Watching this was refreshing. After watching Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei I was planning to rewatch Kakushigoto but held out for this movie and it paid off. It came out in the perfect time.
95% of this was recap but the new content which was added was great. The ED theme lyrics sound more amazing with the "new" ending!

Also I noticed some of Hime's friends look like Zetsubou girls. Especially this girl:
Her name's literally Kitsuchi Riko which seems to be a reference to Kitsu Chiri alongside the obvious likeness.

That's because this is a recap/summary movie based on an existing 12 episode series. The anime series has a better pacing. Albeit the last episode still hits like a truck.

I enjoyed the TV anime so watching this movie was refreshing especially as it contained new scenes that weren't adapted originally. Good hit of nostalgia watching this.

Series is def the better option to watch if u want to enjoy the story better, I havent read the manga but Im sure that also had more content than the anime.
Altho the movie is a good option if u want to save time.
That last part hit me hard in the series and it still got me in the movie despite being literally the same. I like the added small content near the end where Hime paints/colors the manga panel as a sign of her new colorful start.

I was about to skip the film as I really loved the serial, remember the plot too well, I was afraid watching the recap is just gonna be a waste of time but oh my how wrong I was! Even knowing pretty well what is to come I was laughing at the familiar jokes again and tearing up at some cute, touching moments. That was great! <3

Yo this is about a theatrical compilation (movie recap) that manage to be made as an anniversary gift to the author of this series. Nothing really stands out, because its not really the cause behind this movie. Its for nostalgia, the flashback memories. Its even literally already told in the synopsis page at this site, and still managed to get some lost people to be mad about that? Man, get yourself some good reason to begin with, imma telling you.

That's being said, the last piece of information really well done. Hime's mother disease, color blindness, monochrome world. That's the ed! Oh man, what an end with Hime continued the job's of manga and even adding the old page of those, for the sake of a better memories. Even though the memories are monochrome. Hime will add some color to those memories. That's deep!

Easy 10/10. Like i did for certain of my liking series. Yeah. Thats it all...

The 12-episode show is definitely the better way to enjoy the series, but the movie is also good and does its job of celebrating Kumeta's 30th anniversary in the industry and condensing the show into a 1-hour format

The added scene which reveals Hime's mother slowly going colourblind prior to her death is painful, but the new ending with Hime using her talent to colour her father's manga is so damn beautiful.

I'll await eagerly for you next work Kumeta-sensei, I really enjoyed both Kakushigoto and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Watched the movie after almost 2 years..and gotta say I love it.
What will you say? It's recap with a lot of new content Added I genuinely enjoyed the movie. If someone wants to watch I will stil suggest the series and then the movie.
10/10 like the series (for me)
(My only problem will be with lyrics for Op/ed they should have added that it was in main Serise and they even use the same songs)

I will like to know everyone's thoughts.
Complain and everything.

Just finished the Kakushigoto movie. I’m ngl, I’m pretty disappointed that it was essentially a rushed rehash of the anime with a total of like 5 mins of new footage. You can definitely tell when it’s the new stuff since quality is better. Still nice to see Hime and her dad again and I think this offered a little better conclusion to the story than the anime did. Definitely ended up crying at the end.

8/10.

I only saw the new scenes and I'm giving my rating based on that.
7/10 they are good but they don't add anything really important to the main anime.

I thought it was a movie, but nonetheless I enjoyed it. I watched the original series when it aired and when the ''movie'' came out I put it on-hold, Only now I just watched it and well.. sure it gives me somewhat of a nostalgic vibe even though it was only 2 years from the time I watch the original series.

A nice shortened compilation of the events of the show, an okay-enough way to experience some of it again as it seems they cover most of the important and good stuff- like the scene at the hotsprings where everyone opens up about their secrets to each other. However it's still better kept as a more episodic series, it's just more clean that way with how they end each episode with a scene from the present time.

As for the very small handful of short scenes added around the end, it certainly helps flesh out things a little more, but I still personally find the ending overwhelming considering all the build up that we went through right from the start. (It probably wouldn't fit the playful light-hearted tone of the series, but I still think Goto should've died to truly deliver some punches to the gut) I think the main selling point for watching this movie is to see the scene regarding the color-blindness of Hime's late mother. Other than that, it is just a recap; so if you really enjoyed this series and were happy to experience it again, well, you do you I guess.

It seems adding extra scene that not showed in series but cut many moments into a part of memories. Description say this Theatrical Edition is another POV and yea it tells everything. I think this movie told about the missing story from the series. Good stuff and amazing art as always. Love their painting and stuff, it's really relaxing. Really worth to watch, this feels not a recap.

Rarely watch Life of Slice anime but this is like light comedy and it's pretty fine. For a second I thought was based of a real-life story of a mangaka but who knows~
