Oh yeah, space is indeed the best place to shut yourself in. Why did I never think of that?

That's rough, didn't expect a two pater tbh. I think this show is going places, like it's gonna start off lighter but get more intense with time. Kinda curious how they'll break up seasons, too.

ok, that escalated quickly. Now Null is stuck in space.

I wonder how they would get home? Maybe Peta-nee has an extra battery somewhere..

Peta-nee with her usual sadistic tendency launches null into the space. That's what happens if you defy almighty anee-ue-sama.

Peta nee-san is too serious about sending her sister to school, that she literally trapped her inside a rocket!

This episode was unexpected. It started with intrigue and it ended with an unresolved conflict. I like the alteration of the formula here!

I was thinking about the lack of design for the random people Null sees. It works as a cost cutting technique while giving a unique look to the world, I know a few series do this, but with Null's isolation being a big theme; I wonder if they serve that theme as well. To depict Null as feeling disconnected from everyone around her. Her classmates who made her feel ostracized were obviously in that style as well.

Despite all the video games in the opening, Peta sending Null into space through an arcade cabinet seemed to be the first moment of on screen video game playing. I was somewhat shocked when I saw this because if Peta is playing video games by herself then that goes against my understanding of her being defined by caring about Null almost exclusively, only challenged by her faulty programming. It would be a character trait onto herself. That said, I think her goal was controlling Null through the cabinet and driving her to school rather than playing games and accidentally sent her into space.

And as for the monologue scene when Null was in space, floating there alone, it was shockingly emotionally resonant. It's clear that she didn't like where she was, as to even wish she went to school so this wouldn't happen to her. She's hungry, she can’t physically eat, and her sister is dead again. But, the sparkly music and atmosphere of that scene reminded me of Paper Mario's "Shooting Star Summit". I suppose it captured a sense of wonder. And beyond that, it made me feel Null was originally somewhat accepting or comfortable with her situation. She’s already used to being alone and feels ostracized by her peers, to literally be separated from them with an added barrier must be comforting, it’s almost only getting rid of what she already avoids. But, she also mentioned that there's no one to say “good morning” to her and no big sister to bother her about school and we know for a fact that she recreated Peta to at least do the former. She wanted that kind of acceptance and care, that kind of human connection. Null was put in this weird limbo, overlooking the beauty of the earth and the stars and relieved of the human connection she already wanted to avoid, but also losing the things she did care about. It served as a moment of self reflection.

With the batteries dead, now Null's even more alone. Although I wouldve had a blast if I was floating around aimlessly in space.
