----------------------------------------
This training camp turned into such an interesting social experience tbh especially for Tomozaki. Of course, we also got to see more of Mizusawa and a mix of other feelings displayed by the cast.

Aoi is perhaps the most complex character at this camp as she seems like an actor. Was Tomozaki actually expecting a kiss from her? Lol

It's also a good thing they had a fireworks celebration for this occasion.

best episode of the series so far, tomozaki coming to his senses and realising that treating real life people like game characters is wrong.

series starting off slow but has really gotten interesting imo, will probably read the source material if no s2 is announced next week

Can't believe this isn't rated higher (well not really considering the tastes of the average MAL user) it's so good, another great episode this week. Aoi is such an interesting character, I know it can't have a real finale next week so I really hope we get a season 2 announcement.

One of the better episodes on the whole, with the student surpassing the teacher. Real question is how the heck did kikuchi not eat her candy apple she bought in the evening until the firework show? Like does this girl not eat or something?

yeah me too, it has gotten to be very interesting, excited for the finale, can someone explain what the last dialogues in the last 20s or so, meant from hinami, and tomozaki, although I will probably rewatch. Loving this series, also the new ED was a little awkward but still slaps

There should totally be a season 2, this season has gained a lot of traction towards the end.

Didn't expect Hinami to act like this.
it is as if she had completely cut off her relationship with Tomozaki as if she had never been friends with him

The 2nd season will be pretty dark since it'll be showcasing a part of Aoi that wasn't shown yet in the series.

Tomozaki talked about life not being a game and that human relationships matter, shouldn’t be treated as goals. He actually developed and I liked his conversation with Aoi. I’ll just act like I haven’t heard the “I’m a bottom character” at the end, it was a pretty good episode.

Kikuchi was so cute in her kimono.

"So you've different too" before Aoi went inside train.

Aoi seriously think Tomozaki will continue with plan till end, but yeah Tomozaki had own plans not to use planned talk stuff, but own words from his head.

Even for small moment, that was true face of Aoi than before.

I really hope Kikuchi was just herself, but I have my doubts... Aoi's handwork seem to be on very large area. Atleast I can guess from Aoi's was not that much shocked, Kikuchi maybe called her before Tomozaki and Aoi met on station.

Wait what was Aoi expecting Tomzaki to do? Keep following her orders and become someone like herself? Cause the moment he stopped listening to her she just broke their relationship like it was nothing. Also wtf man, did Tomozaki just lose all his confidence? WOW.

Welp while I'm glad Tomozaki stopped following Aoi's orders like a mindless robot I'm also kinda sad at how bad things turned out due to that.

Very good episode it addressed all the problems I had when I first started like hinamis method of "developing your character".
I mean hinami just assumed that kikuchi was a cute girl so tomozaki would like to have her as his girlfriend (no grudge against kikuchi she's kawaii at) and telling him to confess like some sort of checklist at the end of the day.
Now the student has truly surpassed the teacher and since the beginning my go to ending was a scenario where tomozaki helps out Aoi.
It's not that I don't like Aoi she's pretty Decent even more so now because of her complex and interesting personality.
But mimimi best girl of the show imo

Really good episode.

Misusawa coming to the realization that maybe he should try to be more of an 'idiot' and face people head on with his true feelings instead of hiding behind a mask was very nice.

Great moment when Tomozaki realized that Kikuchi found it easier to talk to him when he was being himself and I'm glad that he brought it up with Hinami. It's great that she gave him the confidence to be able to talk to people, but it's better to face people with earnest so they like you for who you are and not just someone who says all the right things all the time.

I'm surprised that Hinami had such a negative reaction to Tomozaki's comments on what they were doing, she didn't even bother trying to consider his viewpoint and basically ended things. :(

Best episode so far, it’s criminal that Tomozaki Kun isn’t rated higher. The development we got today was amazing and few SoL/RomCom MCs have had this much in an entire season nonetheless one ep.

Tomozaki realising that just because there’s silences and awkward moments during convos doesn’t mean things didn’t go well. Those are natural parts of interpersonal communication. Every single moment doesn’t need to be filled with talking. Him realising that he’s not even sure how he feels about Fuuka but has been going thru the motions because of this RPG esque strategy was cool too.

Drama at the end, but we know they’re going to make up, and it’ll take everything Tomozaki has learnt about people to do so.

Well, I knew that kiss won't happen. Gosh, darn it. Mizusawa really confessed to Aoi and got shot down as well. But, the funny thing was Tomozaki jumping out in the middle, like he couldn't take another word. Tomozaki was definitely jealous there.
Kikuchi was looking adorable in that yukata. The fireworks were amazing. Episode-wise, this was the best one so far. I hope Tomozaki and Aoi sort it out. I felt bad for Tomozaki.

Pretty much this.

Good going Tomozaki, better late than never. Highly anticipating the season finale now and how things with Hinami will be resolved. One episode seems a bit limiting for that conflict tbh. Would appreciate a second season, but I doubt it will happen.

Hinami was being kind of a bitch ngl. Not only did she break their relationship, but she also asked my mans to return the bag lmao.

Props to Tomozaki for realizing that he wasn't being himself if he kept following her orders. Initially, I like her idea of using these tasks as a way to self-improve, but after seeing him follow her orders during his date with Fuuka, it felt... kinda off.

Now I'm really curious as to what made Hinami this way, she must've gone through some serious shit, is what I'm assuming...

I like it overall, good episode.
Tomozaki is definitely developing his social skills.

Still, I should be a bit more cautious with an hypothetical s2 hype train, the Blu-rays sells were very low and it got constantly overshadowed by other animes. Plus, is a Project 9 anime, they are not famous for long running show.

I’ll miss this anime when it ends ㅜㅡㅜ
I’ll miss that OP, it grew on me soooo much I love it!!!!! Always cheers me up & makes me smile!

Shimazaki Nobunaga is a perfect match for Mizusawa. I love love love loveeeee the voice work for Mizusawa. PERFECT.

What does Mizusawa see in Aoi.....? Her thiccccc thighs?? How well she plays mind games & manipulates people just like he does?? Lololllll I knew that confession was coming but I had hoped that scene wouldn’t have went that way. Would have been more compelling if it just showed him as a close friend, being able to see through her layers of mask & BS. That was so heartfelt when he was speaking so highly of Tomozaki tho ♡______♡

Mizusawa even tho fuccccboi but still my best boy

Come onnnnn Tomozaki you can do it without Aoi!!!! I’m sure he can make meaningful connections without her toying & condescending self.

ED this episode by Aoi’s seiyuu ♡
Apparently they have been changing up the ED with the girls’ seiyuus for certain episodes but I didn’t realise till this episode hahaha

but i’ll probably remember over and over again

Ruined what and how? This episode showcased amazing development on Tomozaki's part and showed how Aoi was being toxic and controlling. If anything this made the series much better. Don't see how this ruined anything unless you consider character development to be bad.

Last episode's Test of Courage cliffhanger moment of Tomozaki and Aoi...yup, knew that it won't happen just as naturally.

Otherwise, the normie training camp progresses with Tomozaki making small baby steps that get a positive reception as per Mizusawa's experience with Aoi's coaching. The way of Tomozaki's perception of Aoi is so intricate that even he is able to judge things from his POV, which is a massive improvement and indictment to Aoi's multi-faceted facade of masks to remain the popular girl status.

The most realest character interaction with Tomozaki and Fuka in just pure dating fashion, it definitely felt like these two were perfect for each other the more their friendship holds up and blossoms into a real relationship. From not using placards of conversation starters to just basking in the silence, look how much our boy has grown out of his NEET status and begin acting like a REAL person.

The instant gratification that your preferences may mean various differences to people, that Tomozaki's challenge to the stubborn Aoi that doesn't want to change her act. The human heart of connections is such a complex issue, and making and losing friends like that is part-and-parcel of life.

It's nice to see this levels of development from someone who doesn't shy away from topics like these. Hoping a lot to deliver for the season finale.

damn, why this anime's rating so low?? for me, this anime was more interesting than horimiya. i hope this anime will get season 2 announcement as fast as possible.

Yeah. Nice episode. And nice anime so far. I also hope for a 2nd season as soon as possible ... and not only years later. Maybe next year? Best would be though if they already annonced it after the next and last episode.

Still a lot of char depth to Aoi - and backgrounds to explore. And I guess in the very end Tomozaki might end up with her. (And teaching/helping her instead of her helping him.) But maybe the source is not even at that point and we'll have to wait for this.

A lot of less good stuff getting 2nd seasons. Would really be a shame if this one didn't get more.

Honestly looking at the reviews people find "helpful", people just rushed to review it while all of it really seems to be a big sort of build up, should defo be scored higher at the end, also even the intro provides hints to the story like its a lot deeper symbolically than it seems at first

And that's where Tomozaki should turn around and never talk to her again. She's insane. I mean, she always was, but she really doubled down lol. It is strange that it took this long for him to realize what was going on though, since it felt like sincerity was important to him from the beginning.

I REALLY liked this episode, its, from far, the best episode so far, and, to be honest, I was waiting for that to happen.

One of my big problems was the character Hinami Aoi and all her speech, which is extremely doubtful, and this became very noticeable to the viewer throughout the story progression. I am happy that Tomozaki realized this in a consistent way with the development of the character, making it not forced.

Wow I'm so surprised this has gone over everyone's head and they are cheering Tomozaki and calling Aoi a bitch. Really? Rewatch two scenes when the blonde confesses to her on the bench and the end where Tomozaki says he doesn't want to be fake any more.
First the bench scene, Aoi pretends to lower her fake persona but in actuality switches to another fake one. Tomozaki notices this, how? He has seen her real personality. Then she explains her basic life philosophy "I think every normal person puts on an act to some extent so we we have to compromise and find that one person we can be our true selves around" (Tomozaki is her one person she is herself around) Blonde guy even says 'I hope someday I get to see it'. That's why she rejected his confession, he only knows "fake" Aoi and she has only known the "fake" him so no point in starting a "fake" relationship. Remember he just confessed he never dates the girls he puts up his act for even though he could since they all fall for it, he's so good at it.
Now go to the bench, Tomozaki tells her I don't want to be fake anymore, and she asks what he means by that and he can't say. She then says "So you're different too" "Your turn is over the second you let go of the controller." Remember her philosophy, she knows everyone puts up a fake personality. When she first met him remember what he did as she was walking away he let loose on how he really felt, she saw he was the "real" Tomozaki he didn't have a fake facade so she decided to help him play "life" by teaching him how to put up that fake personality everyone else does. That's what was holding him back, he was open and honest but mistakenly assumed EVERYONE else was too. Now he comes to her and tells her basically "I don't want to play any more" "I want to be true to myself" basically go back to how he was. You can just see the disappointment in her face that he hasn't learned anything and now she will lose the one person she could be herself around. When she first met him she wasn't looking for someone to play Tackfam with but "life", her being disappointed with him obviously was all part of her act, remember she's always acting, to see if he was someone she could "play" with (not in a manipulative way but helpful and encouraging), and he (and obviously the viewers here too) don't seem to have gotten that. And also that he's fooling himself if he thinks him being "real" will help him with everyone else still being "fake". Remember all the progress he has made so far has been by putting up a fake persona.
I think Aoi is a fascinating character, you often get those characters who "groom" someone into being their perfect partner but I don't think "groom" was the right word with her. You have to use her analogy of playing a game, she was someone at "expert" level tutoring a "noob" and they were both having fun "playing" and just when she thought he was advancing to the next "level" he shuts it all down and quits. I felt really bad for her. She's bored it's like being a chess grandmaster and only people who can play checkers are your only opponents. She saw the potential in him (because of how he played Tackfam) that maybe he could get to her level in life too. I don't find her cynical at all as far as her view on people putting up an act, I'd say she's right for the most part, and as far as the show every character so far has proven her right too. So I don't see how she can be criticized for doing exactly what everyone else is doing.

That’s a very good analysis & I see it the same way too but, she can be a fascinating character & a bitch at the same time. Those 2 things can co-exist lol. Whatever her motivations she’s super condescending to him. I think that’s what doesn’t sit well with most people that you claim has “gone over everyone's head”

but i’ll probably remember over and over again
you were there and everyone else was there
— the day we all searched for just one thing
