Honestly, JJK eps need to be way longer cause it went by so fast.

Stellar animation as usual, as expected of mappa. But dang, the battle have no tension at all despite both side use technique that supposed to be deadly. And the talk feel rather cheap, mechamaru suddenly have a change of heart after talking to a stranger, nevermind the previous eps where the kyoto students have no qualms assassinating fellow student in a supposed friendly match in full view of school staf. Just hope this arc end soon.

Great fight scene once again. Mappa just keeps on delivering with this show. The shot of Maki at the end *chefs kiss*

The first part of the episode is quite interesting, but the rest is even more so. The narrative at some point also manages to deceive and make you think almost the defeat of the character of Panda in favor of Mechamaru, so the episode for this is even more engaging. Another episode that confirms how judicious it was to follow this anime evening because so far it has not in the least disappointed expectations if there were any, even if as far as I'm concerned I started it almost by chance. The quality of the drawings and animations is more than good, the characters always manage to entertain, despite the serious context. The narration is excellent as regards the underlying message that he wants to convey through the story of Mechamaru. Observing the figure of Panda at the end of the fight, a little skinned, a doubt came to me: is it a real animal or a puppet?

I really liked this episode there was so much action. I couldn't understand Itadori's part though. So, why it is lagging exactly?

basically, yuuji's body's speed is too much for his cursed energy, so he needs to flow it better, to feel the balance.

Oh I see thanks! One more thing, what was the connection with this punch and the "eye and hand" artist thing he talked about?

I'm little bit dissapointed with the Mechamaru vs Panda fight, it could've been better considering previous fights but overall it's a good episode I think. Panda is really an awesome character lol.

I mean seriously, Panda was so cool and badass in this episode that surely even Gojou would be feeling the heat after this Lol Shirou you were damn right "Panda is not a Panda". XD

Most boring episode thus far. The whole episode was filled with either braindead or dull, expository dialogues. The fight between Panda and Mechamaru was filled with such dialogues. The author also tried to give backstories to the fighters in the middle of their fight which broke the flow of the fight. The hack of an author tried to make us care about the fighters but did this in a completely uncreative ,read expository and damaging ,read interruptive way imaginable.

Speaking of the technical side of this episode now. The animation during the fights was stiff and wasn't fluid enough. The inconsistent character art (during motion) didn't mesh well with the perfectly fine background art. Another thing is that the animators are trying to animate certain scenes in a certain way but falling short of it. One example would be when Panda was swinging his hand from below in the final moments of his fight. It reminded me of the Todoroki fight with Deku, where Todoroki also swinged his arm like that. I wouldn't be complaining about animation if it was always this way but that's not the case. I was pleasantly surprised by the fluid, impactful and properly framed fights during the first few episodes of this season. It started going downhill with the Jogo vs Gojo fight where the impact of the blows was lackluster.

The OST choice was simply bad. I won't even talk about that.

Overall, this episode added nothing of value to the story besides expositing character backstories to the viewers.

I don't know if I like Toudou or Panda the most in JJK. I mean, I like Gojou too but he's too generic compared to most of the students while Panda, Salmon, Maki and people of the rival school seem much more original than the entire main cast. This arc has been much better than the previous arc so far.

Girl fight next week. The preview looked too damn cool. I'm expecting great animation.

Toudou's explanation about how cursed energy works sure was impressive in scope. Despite his teacher he actually makes a good teacher when he has the right student. Hmm so panda was actually a cursed doll huh. In a way he and Mechamaru are pretty similar. Panda unleashed though sure was blistery fast. Hmm while tragic at least mecha's controller was gifted with a weapon that can fight several times harder than a normal human to compensate. Though being born with such a frail body is itself a tragedy. So Panda actually has three cores that work in syn then. But Gorilla mode sure had quite the form being a panda gorilla hybrid. That fight though sure was closely fought one but its nice that panda was able to win. Looks like the next fight will be Maki vs Miwa. Overall a pretty action packed ep with the fight between Panda and Mechamaru being the highlight. Its interesting how both are so similar to each other and yet have learnt so many different things in their interactions with their fellows.

Ehh least we got a full fight this episode.
Yuji didn't learn an ability though.
What are you talking about there?

Plus, you're asking a 1 episode fight between 2 side characters to match the standards of a fight between 2 main characters built up over several episodes and animated by the GOAT Yutapon himself?
That's pretty harsh.
Which of the earlier fights do you think had the best choregraphy?
I think Todou vs Yuji has the best.
They actually have a back-and-fort
Also how would you do the fight without the important exposition like Mechamaru's heavenly pact or Panda's 3 cores?

I'll make this a habit. I'm gonna post comments on every JJK ep since why not?

This ep came by too fast! Whooo~ I love the emotions there. Todou and Yuuji being foes but bros and Mecha and Panda having the "oh, we are not human, but we are very humanly and thats what makes us beautiful" conversation. I love it. I love the feelings, emotions, the ideas presented in this episode! I love the symbolism and the hardships.
Fights are always top tier! Not a single dull moment! I love how Panda is not a Panda, and I love Mecha being a human but not as well.
Looking forward to girl's fight~~

Basically people with "good eye and hand" are better in learning than people with just "good hand".
That's why Todou was complimenting how Yuuji fighting ability improved during their fight.

I said nothing of Yuji fight though. Maybe you're confusing my post for someone else's.

When I mentioned the Todoroki fight I was strictly speaking about the animation and very specifically a single cut of animation as an example. It's just that watching the Mechamaru vs Panda fight I was reminded of many such similar cuts which had way more impact, of course I'm talking in terms of how it's animated. I can't control my subconscious, now can I?

The first few episodes upto the Cursed Womb fight had very fluid and satisfying animation. Examples would be, Sukuna vs Gojou, Sukuna vs Cursed Womb, Itadori vs Cursed Womb. Even Jogo burning people was animated skilfully. The Gojou vs Jogo fight still was good but the blows felt less impactful and the animation wasn't as fluid. In terms of choreography, I think the short spar between Gojou and Sukuna was the best.

One approach to minimize exposition, would be to showcase their basic abilities and capabilities on small fry curses beforehand, like Panda being able to manipulate his cursed energy concentration, for example. Also, don't show an origin backstory during a fight since it will be conflicting with the fight itself. Flashbacks/Dialogue which show motivation to a character's action directly aren't a problem though. Like Mechamaru's reasoning for hating cursed objects. General things like 'there are cores in cursed objects' for example should be mentioned separately from the fight not during or just before a fight. So doing these, much of the explanation required is already removed and the fight becomes more streamlined. Exposition in itself isn't bad. How it is handled is the issue. Mechamaru's exposition was handled fine. Panda's could've been better.

Wait, isn't what Todou trying to say is let the curse energy not channel from limbs to limbs, but straight from the limb that's needed. Sound awfully similar to something a white-haired alien ape would say...

Panda wa, Panda ja nai!
Panda's fight with Mechamaru was flashy alright, not as badass as Itadori's fight with Todou, but still enjoyable nevertheless. And in addition to the fight, there's the backstory for Mechamaru and his desire to have a normal body. What's up with all these back stories being shown so much earlier on?

Ah sorry I combined your post and @Kosmonaut 's in my head somehow.
Hmmm I get what you mean.
Maybe the animation feels less impactful because the fights are taking full episodes now?
You would have preferred if we found out about the cores when Yuji was facing the puppets or something.
Before we learned about a mutation like Panda.
Got it.
About the backstory and bluff, personally I didn't mind them.
I think the backstory worked to show how Panda was raised like a human but isolated and different.
It makes his words at the end to Mechamaru feel more meaningful.
I also really liked the punch rush transition to the present.
So I feel it flowed well.

I think the bluff works cause like Panda said, he was doing CE manipulation the entire time to hide he had 3 cores.
Rather than suddenly developing something new, it shows something he was doing the whole time.
But at the end of the day it's subjective.
Thanks for the response

For me, it seems like Todo was talking about PERCEPTIVE fighters ("artists"), who learn fast and change their style according to the circumstances. Like how Yuuji now is devouring Todou by intercepting his blows with sth unexpected, sth new (for eg, vertical jab). Itadori also quickly grasped the idea of balancing cursed energy and fighting with his own body, soul and mind at the same time.

On the other hand, those who only has "hands" (no pun intended) aren't as flexible or quick at learning new stuff. They tend to get stuck on same place, not improving vastly.

Todou & Itadori scenes are amazing!!!! And Panda’s Gorilla Mode is kinda sick, that was epic!

Mechamaru poor boy. Matsuoka Yoshitsugu is a god. I love the voice work!!

The ED always makes me shed a few tears. There’s something so subtle about Yuuji just watching over them. I’m anime-only and I dk why but it definitely doesn’t bode well (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`)

Yep the Panda vs Mechamaru is fight, although a bit downgraded, it is still fine. Nice knowing that Panda has 3 cores, which is really OP if you ask me. And nice props for him protecting Nobara from Mecha's blast.

And it is sad that Mechamaru is actually a crippled man possessing a robot as his very existence, looks like Panda defeated him proud. Although we didn't get to come back from Maki v Miwa, we did see a glimpse at the very end. And Todo teaching Yuuji before their real fight is awesome!
