A personal foreword:
I feel like everyone is wanting to know how the chapters are adapted as per the anime, but while it's a huge mess right now, I'd like to share the various arcs of which the anime adapted as to the episodes.

It's not exactly clear cut to the manga, and I'd presume the anime will only cover things of the main quad characters: Rou, Shinako, Haru and Rikuo VERY HEAVILY whilst leaving the major details a.k.a side characters behind.

Without further ado, here are the chapters per episode:
Episode 1: Chapters 1-4 (The One Who Wants to Live Differently to Society, Must Also Put Himself to Question)
Episode 2: Chapters 5-9.5 (What is Love?)
Episode 3: Chapters 9.5-16 (What is Love? (End) -> While Gently Swinging)
Episode 4: Chapters 17-20 & 25-27 (Flowing Like Water & Shinako Returns Home)
Episode 5: Chapters 28-30 (A Young Man Named Minato)
Episode 6: Chapters 36-40 (Rememberance)
Episode 7: Chapters 41-49.5 (Hurdles of Youth & Premonitions of Love)
Episode 8: Chapters 49.5-53 (Premonitions of Love (End) -> Innocent and Blue)
Episode 9: Chapters 54-59.75 (Innocent and Blue (End) -> Christmas Carol)
Episode 10: Chapters 59.75-65 (Christmas Carol (End) -> New Year, New Beginnings)
Episode 11: Chapters 66-78 (Spring Storm -> Amamiya/Rou's arc (which are totally left out))
Episode 12 (FINAL EPISODE): Chapters 83-113 (Closure) [LATEST]

Final verdict: Got good, but the last stretch was just downright borrendous to watch.

Good work ! I hope they make a full adaptation

For your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And honour your parents. If one or both of them reach old age in your care, never say to them ˹even˺ ‘ugh,’ nor yell at them. Rather, address them respectfully.
And be humble with them out of mercy, and pray, “My Lord! Be merciful to them as they raised me when I was young.”
(Holy Quran 17:23-24).

Given the adaptation in episode 8 , I don't think they are going to make a full adapation by the end of the series sadly

Actually they will, just that content will be sharply cut to concentrate between the 4 leads and nothing else.

Plus with the pacing that we're currently in, it's still uncertain how we'll see the rest of the series be adapted (still a few arcs to go), but fingers crossed.

Seems like they are able to fully adapt this - if they keep up the same pacing. According to MAL it has 113 chapters. (Well real chapters might be less since MAL also counts bonus stuff.)

8/18 episodes ... it depends on the last 6 episodes. They need to be "full episodes" adapting the plot - not some bonus half length stuff or fanservice.

It is interesting that they have a different pacing each episode though. According to the list in post #1.

Must be a good director and/or script writer for the anime that is responsible for this. The best adaptions don't to 1:1 but try to make changes for the anime (certain stuff faster other stuff slower) - as needed.

And as anime only watcher so far I haven't noticed anything bad. (Besides minor stuff I did not like in the plot which probably was the same in the manga.)

So around 5-6 chapters per ep. Is that because of the chapters being small or cutting alot of content? Can some manga reader tell coz if it's the later I would like to read the manga after the anime ends.

It is definitely cutting a lot of content. Heck, the unusual number of 18 episodes should already be a red flag in itself that the anime is compromising a lot to adapt the manga to completion.

BTW, it's not 5-6 chapters, but depending on how long are the various arcs consisted in the manga.

If so, I really highly compel you to read the manga to understand the gist of what's going on, but there's a lot of side chatter also (that IMO can be completely ignored when comparing the anime to the manga.)

If you were to recommend one for - anime or manga which would you ultimately recommend as the better version (so far at least)?

TBH, the manga's the way to go, the anime kinda toned down on trying its best to depict the various plotlines, and also, you can experience the story in full, side characters and all.

But I'd respect the anime if its current direction is going the way to complete the important bits of the manga in its entirety.

Do you think Haru’s relationship with a certain important character that I am not naming because spoiler will be kept? Because things already got a tad bit wonky with Minato already

I don't even think they will cover THAT character though, the past few episodes have been hinting his character with cameos, but that's as far as seeing him in the anime will be revealed though.

Without a doubt that he will be omitted entirely for the anime.

You're right about that.

But as far as I'm concerned with the anime ONLY (which is the focal point), we haven't really seen much of HIM yet, only side character cameos for now (if my memory serves me right). Enlighten me if you've seen him around these past 10 episodes?

OK, since now it is confirmed we only have 12 episodes (+6 short OVAs), with only one episode left, how are we gonna wrap the whole series in a satisfying manner?

I have not read the manga, so I need to ask, is there a way that we can skip right to the end of manga (which has 110+chapters) , without feeling forced or awkward? Since at current pace, I dunno how they can pull this off.

I really need some manga reader's insight on this :(

Thanks in advance

Not to worry, manga reader here.

The worst in possibility, is always the option for an anime-original ending (and leave the plotholes hanging) a.k.a go read the manga.

The best though, I can't even predict where the production staff wanna go with this, so yeah, it's really for uncertain how they'll pull off the final episode with no strings attached (so my guess for the best is as good as the worst).

So your guess is as good as mine. Maybe you wanna read the manga in its entirety 1st though (since the anime kinda missed a lot of opportunity to make-do in just 12 episodes).

Thank you! Your list is really a big help for someone who wishes to jump to the manga bandwagon.

On next Wednesday, the official twitter account will post preview images for the final episode, I guess maybe we could have a clue which direction they might take base on those sneak peeks?

Really the best stopping point for the almost-perfect adaptation.

This episode tried to cram a lot of stuff so much it felt unwatchable (apart from Chapters 66-70, the Spring Storm arc).

Awww, I'm guessing they won't be able to wrap things up then. It's probably going to end on a cliffhanger and I'll have to read the manga to get the true ending. Thanks for posting this. It's really helpful!

What character are you talking about - that did not appear? Can you just give the name without spoiliering any further? I'm curious as to how he might affect the main plot - and I might google for more spoiler-ish info myself. Is it that "Amamiya" guy which got skipped?

With the list in post #1 it seems they are rushing. They might finish it now ... which seems bad but not impossible. I'd rather hope for some OVA episodes. Only a few might be enough. (Can't get worse than with RELIFE where the end totally was rushed with OVA episodes but here keeping the same pacing a few more episodes might be okay.)

They need to focus on Shinako/Haru/Rikuo ... other stuff might be possible to cut. At least that' show I feel as anime-only watchter. Rou is not that important. Can be handled with a short scene. And other side chars are not important as well - if they don't interefere in the relationship of Shinako/Rikuo/Haru. (And if they don't introduce/skip them they can't interefere.)

To answer your questions:
1) Yes, it's that Amamiya guy that was cut out from the anime (because initially I thought that they will add him to add some spice to Haru's life (since in the manga he's constantly chasing her)).

2) Bruh, I can tell you this much that you'll be disappointed. NOT EVEN OVA episodes can help (the 6 extra shorts are side chatter). The only way to do this series justice is to have full episodes.

3) It's already hinted at the PV photo that the 4 characters (Rou, Shinako, Rikuo and Haru) will play centerstage. As for the characters in their circles, we've already seen that the anime adaptation DOWNPLAYS them a lot. And no, even as anime-only, Rou is important for Shinako to break off her past with his older brother (which she had a relationship with, and the younger brother Rou being a "replacement").

THIS is the sole reason I say that anime-onlys better read the manga instead (because in series like this where characterization is THE plot) and compare with the adaptation. Based on the tellings and foreshadowing so far, will take the manga anyday.

okay to add to this 12 episodes anime and 6 short extras, seems like they're adding some filler from the manga in the form of voice drama (1st ep is 12 mins long)

1st episode out today, sadly its only in Japanese unless someone gonna sub that and put it on Youtube.

1st ep: Summer, Fireworks, Goldfish and his bAck
2nd ep: Innocent Blue
3rd ep: Helping with moving out
4th ep: A woman named Yuzuhara

If anyone can pinpoint which chapter these coming from, will be much appreciated! (I'm not reading the manga)

Thanks! Noticed that Innocent Blue is there, but couldn't figure out the other 3. Kinda want to have context in terms of the timeline while listening to the voice drama, that's why I'm asking here. 4th Ep about Yuzuhara probably around anime ep-6.. i guess?

1st ep with fireworks, I'm not really sure where that could be but probably around early episode, too?

They bottled this adaptation and final episode harder than how Arsenal bottled their match against Brighton today in the Premier League. In one way I'm happy seeing Arsenal lose at the end, and one way I'm just bamboozled seeing this anime turn into dogshit so quickly.

Fitting end. And I like how Rikuo was the one to realize stuff and clear things up. I would have liked to see more after that. But from how I understand it even the manga didn't progress a lot after the point where Rikuo changed his interest to Haru.

Minor other chars ... as anime-only knower I don't care about. It actually felt a bit lengthy with how the stuff with Shinako/Rikuo progressed. Really ... I don't miss anything here. Only thing I miss is scenes for Haru+Rikuo (and maybe Shinako Rou) after the end of the anime. Other than that in between ... stuff prolonging it ... I'm glad there wasn't more.
