| Avdol happened to be the perfect Stand User to defeat the clay dolls Judgment had created. He baked those monsters to pieces and he and Polnareff took a hearty piss on Cameo's breathing tube to celebrate their touching reunion. HELL 2 U! |

| I went back to the Hanged Man arc and Joseph says that he crudely buried Abdul. The immediate impression is he actually lived when no one thought he did, and he crawled out of the shoddy burial when he was strong enough to. Upon more thought, the theory develops that while leaving him behind, Joseph and Jotaro didn’t want anyone to know of him being alive. They couldn’t wait for him to heal, they are on a time limit. Following this, there is a saying, to trick your enemies, one should trick your friends first! So, overall it's incredibly plausible that they made a deal to meet here once he was better. And if so, I’m glad I stayed open minded! Jotaro and Joseph "burying" the body off screen would now make total sense. What we do know is Abdul got brain damage or something, he has a different personality now. When he first showed that sass with his pose, I didn’t think much of it. When he first fought Polnareff he did drop the fortune teller one liner, he can be cool and over the top. It was this chapter however which really sold it and Polnareff picked up on it too. Firstly, Abdul’s fighting style changed from what I can tell. Until now I think it mostly used projectile fire, but Magician’s Red straight up fought like a wrestler with kicks and punches against Judgement!! And he was ruthless, taking pleasure in making his foe scream and going so far to think about pissing in his air hole. The humble, quiet, and compassionate Abdul seems to be gone?! I mean, we don’t know for sure what’s happening going forward, but for him to get Goku treatment, hit so hard his personality changes, is definitely charming and hilarious. In a way, it’s like a new character joined the heroes. Whereas at first I thought the return of Abdul was silly and took away from certain aspects, now it appears to have been intricate and intelligent and funny, and adding a new aspect to the series rather than purely taking away former strengths. I knew I should have given Araki more credit, he’s not the type to revive characters for no good reason. Even when writing my post, I had been thinking that I should be asking what Araki’s intention is here. I guess to compliment the writing, it went from me feeling cheated, to me feeling dumb and getting what was really going on and that makes Abdul to be a character of two plot twists that hit equally hard. As mentioned previously and in this post: Killing him wouldn't likely change the stakes of the series in a monumental way. His reappearance adds to the story with a plot twist which likely makes total sense in retrospect and he even has a twist on his character to make sure we know that Araki isn't just un-doing what was done. The only complaint I can still hold high is that it does diminish the emotional weight of my favorite arc and the burden of Polnareff yet it won't remove the lesson or the bromance that was spawned from it. By the way, I’ve caught onto a theme. Stand users who stay hidden and let their stand do all the fighting will generally be absolute jokes once they are pulled out of their hiding hole. The designs of the Sun, Wheel of Fortune, and Judgement's users have all followed this. Maybe some I’ve even forgotten some, Tower of Gray somewhat qualifies but he was just old and not a goofy design. |
