The pacing compared with last episode is much better.

This pretty much concludes the alliance side of the civil war. I hope that we can get 3eps from the empire side now.

Boris Konev was on fire today, Lynch had his last laugh, and Yang had the opportunity to hold another mini-speech about democracy. The scenes with Artemis' Necklace definitely got their share of the visual budget. They are not operating on dimes here.

A very strong episode overall. Thumbs up.

Tragic ending for Greenhill, but at least he was spared from further humiliation. Frederica was the one who suffered more in the end.

And Boris is quite an actor, lol. I definitely like his off duty self more. But he's in quite the predicament there. Looking forward to see more from him and Rubinsky. I'm hyped that the latter is making a move now. More trouble for Yang, tho.

RIP Greenhill. You had good intentions but you were a puppet this whole time. Poor Frederica... Loved Yang's conversation regarding what constitutes real autocracy and corruption. Boris was also quite funny at the end. I love that guy.

Yeah, RIP Greenhill, and many-many condolences to Frederica...

And to Yang too, since he continues his very damn hard journey of protecting dying democracy from itself xD >_<

Scene with Konev and Rubinsky was a nice additon, btw, along with afterwards scene)

I thought there'll be no episode this week

I'm glad they have a different design for Artemis Necklace here instead of scaled down Iserlohn fortress in the OVA

Poor my girl Frederica her daddy got killed :(

And more Dominique is always good too. I honestly can't really tell her actual moral compass in the OVA by the end tho.

Yeah, this is one of the few things that the new version can do better than the OVA. Some of the tech looks a lot better.

Oh man I kinda feel bad for those National Salvation Military Council guys that they got punked by Lynch who serves as Reinhardt's dog, too much time has been wasted , time that could have been used to defeat the Empire ............

So, after them rogue National Salvation Councils, it's them Earth Cultist next, so who were this Adrian Rubinsky and this Boris Konev anywayz and whose side they're on??????

wonder what it would've been like if yang decided to pursue konev's line of work. he could probably have made quite the fortune, retired early, and pursued his passion while miracle lapp carried the alliance navy

I ask what his wife, standing nearby, thinks of his "hobby".
"She probably thinks no problem," he replies. "Because she loves young boys sexually interacting with each other."

Considering when Lapp was killed and when another 'genius' Wideborn who Yang competed against in the academy got killed, some of Yang's feats before these events chronologically from the OVA and Yang's feats after he actually gets some power...

Unless Yang could've made enough money to support the alliance with several fleets and fund a lot of skilled commanders from commoners, they would be lucky to even have a stalemate on their side of Iserlohn, waiting for whenever the Empire invades.

Basically, they would be extremely lucky to even have a desperate stalemate, unless the Empire somehow screws up even worse than they have.

maybe it would've been lapp who was sent to el facil if yang wasn't there. Maybe lapp's commanding officer would've subsequently taken him more seriously in astarte and chooses to follow his plan.
even if lapp still dies, someone else in yang's place might still show up. Yang himself has said that he was pretty unknown until he was given the chance to shine, and there could be dozens of potential magician yangs out there. Maybe dusty picks up the slack

Chapter 7 (out of 9) from volume 2 of the novels. I guess next episode will be chapter 8 and the remaining 2 episodes will take some time to adapt the last chapter.

The scene with Konev and Rubinsky as at the beginning of the chapter. For the anime it was good to have it at the end. The "Sie werden abgehört" (translated with "you are being watched" in the English subs) wasn't in the novel. English translation is a bit wrong. It more refers to the hearing part of surveillance - that that's why he wrote it instead of talking.

Before attacking the Artemis necklace a bit info got cut again. There were some other fights at other regions and volunteers from the areas freed of the salvation council's influence wanting to join Yang's fleet.

Other than that it seemed close to the novels. Good episode and I agree: The modern versions of the technical stuff is looking good.

Edit: Btw ... Machungo (Mashengo) did apper in the old OVA in the episode with the same name (same point of the plot where we are now) - according to Gineipaedia. Didn't remember this and I was a bit surprised to see him as the novel did't have mentioned him yet.

i wonder why this kind of tactic was never shown on iserlohn. fleets would be able to detect a near lightspeed asteroid and move out of the way, but iserlohn is a stationary target that defensively relies on energy shields like we saw on the artemis necklace. sure they've got the thor's hammer, but that weapon takes recharging in between shots so the alliance could just launch the projectiles when it can't fire.

maybe they did try it in their five or six failed attempts, but it at least deserves a mention as to why it would or wouldn't work.

DNT!Baghdash's speech simply lacks the panache of that of OVA!Baghdash. Then again, it's really difficult to surpass the inimitable Kamiya Akira, so I guess I'll have to let it slide.

Anyway, I actually liked this adaptation expanding on the "recruitment" of Boris Konev by the Fezzani government (as compared to the brief scene in OVA episode 26).

Condolences to Admiral Greenhill, he was an honorable man alright, but he was also kind of dumb for putting his trust on one man, well, to be fair, they both died in the same room, perhaps that suits them the most rather than a trial.

Can anybody explain to me why Lynch decided to come clean to the National Salvation Military Council instead of trying to escape to Reinhard?

This episode demonstrates why i prefer the OVA to the remake. The political nuance and dialogue in this remake is butchered. . In the original OVA in the argument between the military council member and Yang, there was a good point that was made that they are different from the politicians because they cared about the wellbeing of society and the republic whereas the politicians were only looking out for their own self interests, whereas in the remake they skipped this part of the dialogue, and just said the military council were wrong, instead of allowing the audience to decide like in the original where they just said different people have different outlooks . .In the remake , there is a clear bias and political nuance has been lost . Its seems like a small dialogue change but it changes the content completely .

This is not the only example, the original OVA Legend of the Galactic Heroes had far more political nuance and better dialogue than the remake .
