Heh. Seems I was right and Makoto joins Triabeater, this will be very interesting. It also looked like this was planned from the beginning. The new Vice Captain and all that was used to make Makoto switch sides, I'm pretty sure on that.

Looking forward to more.

To be honest, i was kinda sad for Makoto in this episode. It was so obvious she would join Triabeater after that. And the vice captain is playing on the two sides, that's a fact.

Hard for me to really be angry with Makoto. Yeah, she was kind of going crazy there, but she devoted herself fully to being the best pilot she could be and in the end she got screwed and none of her hard worked mattered. After she lost her purpose in life to no fault of her own, even her sister (in all but blood) seemingly abandoned her, right when she needed her the most.

Kind of funny though because at the same time Inger is pushing the whole "they have hearts idea," Nubula seems to treat its pilot as a disposable battery instead.

[I agree that it was obvious, it was just a matter of time, since she messed with Iori's data as well a couple of episodes ago.
I wonder what the vice captain is up to.

Makoto has had a stick up her ass from day one. Not sad at all to see her go. Hope Haruka or Iori kicks her ass >___>

I made a mistake. Before, I likened Iori to Asuka, being a hotheaded hotshot that worked hard and performs well when left to herself, but as time goes on, she worsens in her mental state and abilities, especially in comparison to the newcomer with natural abilities. Adding in issues of recognition and immense amounts of pride, at this point, Makoto fits that description better.

...It's really hard to not see other mecha shows in this. I mean, I also see bits of RahXephon in here as well, due to the emphasis on "sounds" and "rhythms" with respect to harmonizing the link between mecha and pilot. Then there was the SEELE-like meeting with the portraits representing the higher ups. In comparing Xenoglossia to other mecha, it's hard to see this as anything unique, but taking the show by itself, it does feel like it's trying to be something.

A dramatic, introspective, self-contained story looking at the traumas of its characters and how these narratives weave themselves into the show's overarching plot? A reimagining of The iDOLM@STER franchise since at the time of its creation, a purely slice-of-life idol show seemed laughable? Or, perhaps, if one were to go really meta, this is actually an in-series TV show with the idols as its actors, but these are just guesses. I can only wonder how Xenoglossia came to be. According to various dictionaries and Wikipedia at least, the word "xenoglossia" has associations with spirituality, meaning the ability to speak in foreign languages through unnatural means. So...I suppose this would be the Masters speaking to the Idols through the resonance of the pilots' biorhythms.

Or I dunno, maybe I'm looking way too deep into this show, and it could very well be a sloppy cash in on The iDOLM@STER's name. Then again, Toshiyuki Kubooka, the original character designer for The iDOLM@STER, also worked on Gunbuster and Giant Robo, so perhaps its relation to other mecha shows isn't too far-fetched.

That scene in the apartment was powerful and very well-directed. Raw emotion, that had me feeling for a character that I already thought was sympathetic. Impressed with the character writing in this, because it was easy to figure out that not-Azusa cared about not-Makoto even without not-Haruka mentioning it. No surprise that she would switch sides, but I have a feeling not-Azusa was almost expecting it, considering how she let her get away with other shit in the past.

Also, the way not-Makoto walked in to hear the bad new, with a smile on her face, was really crushing. I think she actually expected good news after the heart to heart that preceded it. Maybe it didn't help that not-Azusa edgily walked away after dropping the news, but again, perhaps she wasnt to let not-Makoto get stronger in her own way (ie. get revenge).

I thought that Makoto was going to improve, but then she was removed as Nebula's iDOL Master, and everything came crashing down again, and now she's pulled a Reccoa Londe.

Azusa had a hand in this. What exactly is she doing?
