So I want a calm discussion please no fighting I might have missed some things about the movie (I did watch it around a year ago so my memory is a little hazy) so I watched madoka magica and like most people enjoyed it loved the characters the story the twists and turns and loved the ending that was bitter sweet but then I decided to watch the movies and the first 2 are not worth mentioning but the third one I started watching and enjoyed it for the most part I thought they did a good job of making a story without ruining the ending of the series and I thought that until the last like 10 minutes where it ruined the character of homura for me destroyed the ending of the series makeing it meaningless and seemingly going nowhere and no 4th movie in site and I also heard the original makers/writers didn't want to make anything else after the series and thought the story was over but the company just kept pokeing and proding until they did it cause it makes money which pissed me off but to my surprise it seems to have a high rateings and almost all the reviews on here are praising it so I would like to know what other peoples opinions are and if I got my facts wrong please correct me

I went from the TV series to Rebellion and I felt like Rebellion was a disappointment. I still gave it a 5 though, but I don't think I would re-watch it. I actually can barely remember anything about it and I was paying attention while watching the movie. I remember my main complaint was that it was overly convoluted which was in contrast with the TV series.

Your opinion is shared by a lot of people.
The problem is that the situation at the end is really unstable as Madoka is on the verge of remembering her true role. Rebellion NEEDS a sequel. On its own I love it, but it's incomplete.
And they decided to do this mobile-game spin off instead of concluding properly this great anime.

I love Rebellion but that is cool if you didn't enjoy the ending. I just hope we do get a 4th movie some day. I believe in Madoka!

Actually Rebellion makes perfect sense for Homura's character. Her wish was to become stronger than Madoka so she could protect Madoka. That didn't happen in tv series, Madoka ended up becoming stronger than Homura and she ended up sacrificing herself to protect Homura and whole world. This although Madoka's choice was Homura's failure to save the one she loved.

You see Homura say "how could I have been so stupid" to Madoka in the scene were they hug middle of flower friend when Madoka says she could have not beared to leave her family, Homura and her other friends behind. Homura says this cause she allowed Madoka to sacrifice herself and leave them behind. So she corrects this in the end of Rebellion by disregarding Madoka's sacrifice and giving Madoka her life back. This way Homura is now stronger than Madoka and protected Madoka, not only from herself (the sacrifice she wanted to make for everyone's sake), but also from Incubators that tried to prey on her.

Homura has been always pretty obsessed of Madoka, her one and only friend like she says, and that obsession just grew when she kept travelling back in time. Madoka became the reason for her existence so this kind of obsessive love that made Homura to become "demon" fits to her character. In one of flashbacks she suggested to Madoka that they would became witches together and destroy the world together as well. So she has had "evil" or "dark" tendencies quite long already as well as that obsessive love towards Madoka.

Yup, out of the 427 people who gave it a rating of 1, you're the only one who hates it.

I guess that makes since I guess I just liked the ending of the original show and preferred madokas sacrifice then homura trying to give madoka her life back (and also against her will) and I'm fine with shows not ending all sunshine and rainbows (perfect example evangelion) so I guess it's just my personal tastes

I agree; I was about as disappointed as I was with the last episode of the actual series; it had the same sudden feel-good style and did away with the darkness that everyone loved about it; and was also resolved with unexplained, vague nonsense that "just happened". Like Homura just grabbing Madoka and then all that happened.

The Kyouko–Sayaka pairing also felt like it came out of nowhere. Since when are those two suddenly so close?

It is obvious that "obscenity" is not a term capable of exact legal definition; in the practice of the courts, it means "anything that shocks the magistrate".

Well I would have to disagree that the show ended with a different tone as for the entire show was for something better like with Homura and ending was more of a bittersweet ending than a feel-good ending, also the Kyoko and Sayaka thing was more on how they are similar and what wishes were for and how Kyoko sees something in Sayaka she use to have.

This is just like code geass the movie, it ruined the ending. But it also have its advantages, sayaka finally have time for development, homura did what she want, and madoka can finally be happy. If you read the spin-off homura actually have a lot of development because before the only thing she cared about is madoka living
SAO is the most underrated overrated anime
