THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- When the first season ended I noticed they skipped a few chapters from the manga and wondered if they were going to include these events in season 2 but apprently they included them in an OVA. Interesting, this is a must watch as this episode is the proper link between the first and second season. I can understand the lack on attention tho, since nobody is bothering to sub it. I also watched it raw. |

Nice OVA, gave me a Yojimbo vibe. The old cow getting raked by her husband...wonder how she checked his stuff to prove he was infertile...? lol. |

A bit boring at the beginning but more badass Hijikata is always good. In the end, it actually turned out to be a pretty enjoyable ova, I liked the fights. This guy with lipstick though xd. |

Nothing new for anyone who has read the manga since this adapted pretty much the events from chapter 55-59. Still great to see Ogata. |

That giant bird at the end of the credits was really fire, a true bird of legend for genuine. It can lift Asirpa, how cool was that. Too bad they didn't catch though. The first half was good, I guess that wimp Shinpei got away with his pregnant wife. The way his step father killed the mom was very brutal, but he did nothing. |

Got to love Hijikata and Ogata They deserve each other Destroying the two gangs just to get the skin. Ogata telling the guy that killing his parents was his rite of passage The bird trying to carry off Aspira was great. Loved how she just broke the neck of the other bird while the other two just stood around |

The guys reaction to finding out the kid wasn't his was unusually harsh for anime/manga standards. Just bashed her brains in like that. Then again this is Golden Kamuy. The short clip with Asirpa and the bird was hilarious. |

Watching this after the 2nd season was pretty weird. Felt out of place. I knew something was wrong when I started watching the 2nd season but couldn't put the finger on it cause the first season never leave that big of an impression on me in the first place. Either way, fine OVA. If it were bigger it would've been much better. |

Exactly, this. 1st Season was brillIiant to me but the 2nd Season was just about fine to good, but I did give Season 2 a 7/10 nevertheless. Sadly, it went on to bother me for the whole season and with the plot picking up in pace, or so it felt like to me, it just made things a lot more difficult to keep up with and hence get the entertainment out of it. Still hoping for a 3rd Season nevertheless, I’ll make sure to watch the two OVAs before picking up the 3rd Season, if there’ll be ever be one in the first place. Ogata v Hijikata was just as crude you’d imagine if the two were against one another. It’s amazing how far these two went and dragged the demolition of the town along to emerge victorious out of their little mock battle. Lots of gruesome moments this episode too, yikes even within the first 10 seconds there was a flying hand and a gush of blood and the (fake-) father’s little revenge play in particular. Even by Golden Kamuy’s standards, this was quite the episode. Old man Shinpachi was quite the fighter this episode though, taking down those men instantly with lipstick on his lips xD. “Why bother with the lipstick?” was a perfectly random comedic moment, I must say, good lord that was a good laugh. Best moment of the episode was obviously after the ED though. In fact, just these two minutes were better than as a whole than the previous 18-20 minutes collectively. Comedy starring the usual trio is just gold and this episode just showcased exactly why. “Go back to sleep!” from Sugimoto to Shiraishi and Asirpa’s quick kill followed by the two’s “damn” reaction and the big vulture was hilarious. |

I know it's just an OVA but I thought it was pretty weak compared to any episode in season one or two. The humor was largely missing which is such a great balance to the violence. 6/10 |

You need to keep in mind that not everything in Golden Kamuy contained comedy. It has to do with the characters involved in the arc. The purpose of this arc is to show how badass they are. Hijikata, Ogata and Nagakura are serious characters unlike the comedic Sugimoto, Asirpa, Shiraishi or crazy Tsurumi. They rarely join on the joke or comedic moments, and most of the arc involved Hijikata are rather serious and lacking comedy. I guess you also missed the Yojimbo reference in this arc which is one of the things that makes this OVA so great. |

The standalone OVA took the scenes while Ogata's stayed in the silent city of Barato. There were the two old man with one purpose: to retrieved the damn map tattoo of Nopperabo! This is such a nice OVA when everything just turned out into a complete rampage. They messed up with the wrong men, both for the old man, and Ogata side. Lmao. Ogata looks even more great when he got so much time showing off his skill at sniping, and analyzed the whole situations. Once again, he always survived from a stray bullet. If they couldn't aimed well at his head, obviously he never loss his life. Lol. Idk why, but i feel relieved with the safety of those two young couple that got manipulated by their own Yakuza family. Gladly, my man Ogata won't do ashamed thing by taking his life while he just nothing with the conflict between those two gangs. While in the other side, the two old men with their pride too, never bother the woman in disguised and let them free, after retrieved what they were searching on the damn city. What a relieved feeling between such a messed up on that ridiculous city, i felt you, man. So, thats it. The usual intensed of a battle that happened on the Golden Kamuy series. Its still happened on this one OVA. I do hope the next season will improved much, let me see it, then! 9/10, by respecting Ogata own screen time, without forgetting how funny Asirpa, when she almost taking a fly by that damn huge bird, a legendary bird called Huri. She was floating! Lol. |

Nice OVA that tied season 1 and 2 together, and it was great to see more of Ogata, Hijikata and especially Nagakure since we really don't see him in action in the show. Anyway good OVA. |

I love Hijikata but this OVA was interesting only on its last few minutes. Asirpa almost getting kidnapped by a vulture at the end was pretty hilarious tho. |

Damn Ogata's some straight up badass, though that's to be expected of someone voiced by Tsuda Kenjiro, same for old man Hijikata. Being brutal as usual, again liked it from start to end. Also lol Asirpa somehow saved herself from the biggest abduction in history. |

The first part of this OVA should have been a regular episode of Season I and it would have ended up being one of the best, if not the best episode of the entire season. And then they had and go ruin it by doing the second part, with that idiotic/moronic "giant bird" bit. What could have been a solid 8 OVA, ended up being a 6. |
