Would you like to watch 'Koe no Katachi' if it ever gets adapted? Would you be interested in a Hollywood remake or a faithful Japanese live action adaptation?

Since the news that "J.J. Abrams Developing a Remake of the Japanese Hit ‘Your Name’ With Paramount" has emerged..
its not hard to believe that this movie can also Interest many people for a adaptation.

The disastrous adaptation of 'Death Note' into a Netflix movie made me wonder if people overseas are even worthy of adapting a Japanese anime hit..
Meanwhile, the new Japanese live action adaptation of 'Tokyo Ghoul' received tons of good critics from the anime community! (Note: The genre of both titles are different from koe no katachi but i merely focused the adaptation)

So.. Would you like to watch 'Koe no Katachi' if it ever gets adapted? Would you be interested in a Hollywood remake or a faithful Japanese live action adaptation?

Live action adaptations of anime, no matter if western or nipponjis made are always bad idea. We love them because they are anime not because anything.

Anime has "it" and no live action adaptations can ever have that "it".

This needs to stop. Just because an idea works in one form does not mean it will work well translated in another. Live action adaptations go bad so frequently for so many different reasons, I am just fed up hearing about them.

Just leave Koe no Katachi alone.

Sounds like a terrible idea. Same with Kimi No Wa...

I highly suspect the movie will be bad.

Live action adaptations, should be done of manga, not of anime. There's no point if the only change is the visual presentation and an increase in limitations.

Personally i think that this would have a great live adaptation as unlike many of them there won't be need for loads of C.G.I and will be incredible if they can keep the power of music and scenery to make an incredible version. if it was america their would probably be the american stereotype of school and bullies whereas the japanese atmosphere is what makes the manga special. if it were japanese i would most probably watch it so i would enjoy a live adaptation.

I think it's more plausible than others. The style of KyoAni is more reminiscent of live action than say, Makoto Shinkai's, and takes a lot of its visual language, cinematography and shot composition, so I don't think it would harm. Of course some scenes would not have the exact same appeal but I can see most of the movie working pretty well and reaching the same heights.

Koe no katachi seems very inherently Japanese in its background themes and character portrayals so I don't know what kind of treatment can I expect from Hollywood.

In my opinion, movie adaptation is almost always a bad idea. The characters of any movie are always influenced by the team, actor, etc.; Which affects the purity of characters in anime/manga and how their actions are justified in given situation. However, if the makers are willing to stay true to the source, I think it might come out better than what any of us expected.

Yes but I hope they choose a deaf actress to play as Shouko.

I feel like having it in live action once again would take away from what made (especially anime in general) the story so emotionally gripping. It's the voice performances, the subtle body language animation and the detailed facial expressions that convey so much. You can't do that in live action since it's all so limiting. Even if you tried it would just look off or unnatural.

At this point I just don't have any expectations for ANY live action manga adaptations.

I would like a japanese tv series like erased which is more faithful to manga. Koe no karachi need a erasedhood treatment much more than erased need it. Of course that said I am more interested in brotherhood treatment

I think it's kind of unnecessary. The animated movie does its job just fine. Although, I can see this idea being much easier to implement compared to previous live-action adaptations. I wouldn't mind checking out Hollywood's take on this, as long as it's not too woke compared to the original.
