"What about air friction and force... what about the concepts of time and matter?" otousan would be excellent at CinemaSins.

Was a little disappointing we didnt get to see the 'herald'(?) fuck that guy up. Also thought the cgi was well done

I think this could be AotS if it's handled correctly. So far the OP is strange but interesting, pretty much like the rest of the episode. I'm really digging the characters and I think that there is going to be some more focus on the bad guys, and the monsters. The animation was good too, and the pacing was a little slow for me, they spent a bit too long looking at frozen insects and things.

We're thinking of two different scenes. You're thinking of the one where she first grabs the knife and is about to go charging out the door. I'm thinking of the post-timestop scene where they're standing in the room with the hostages and hostage takers. Juri is about to kill one of the gang members, and one of the supernatural things begins to phase into existence before the grandfather warns her off.

While I can see her willing to charge out and stab people in the heat of the moment, Juri willing to start gutting people during the time stop is comparatively cold-blooded.

The OP music was interesting. It was kinda an 80s funk track; and then in the first half there was a 15second piece (between the hourglass turning over, to the fat cat winking) that was ripped straight from that one well known disco/funk song from the 70s/80s (i cant think of the name for the life of me).
And then the visuals for the OP was the most trippy thing Ive seen since Concrete Revolutio's 1st ED.

went in without knowing anything was interesting kinda all over the place at spots and still left pretty confused but i'll see how it turns out as the season progresses

OP is lit tho ,like the ED but once it started i instantly realized why i didn't like the char designs lol it's Umetsu Yasuomi i'm simply not a fan of them though it's cool how almost 20 years later it still looks the same as his older work, also it felt like a lot of his other EDs hes done so it was odd with the amount of fanservice in it for this show at least

Well, this show has definitely been an interesting experience.

The first good surprise is the OP, it is an explosion of colors a weirdness and the song make it seem like it was an old western mystery show.

So far, the mystery part of the show has been presented in a good way, there are a lot of question left it the air with the information the show has given us so far, and I hope they manage to give us some satisfactory explanations.

The ending... oh boy, at first I fell kinda weird with the amount of fanservice it presents, but then I give it a thought and it´s actually nice and well though, especially the static images, which are common in EDs, but then it´s revealed that they are actually in "stasis", pretty clever IMO.

The show has definitely won itself a chance, I will follow it with high expectations.

So this anime is about time stopping. I did not expect that. It was overall a quite different show than recent anime, so much so that I cannot tell where this is going.

And from this episode alone, I am pretty sure the plot twist will be that Juri was living in the stasis for a quite a while. At least that's what I get from all the foreshadowings.

Haha, I loved that part because I'm sure most of us would have been wondering the same thing. Then for the grandfather to just say, "How am I suppose to know?" made me laugh.

I like what's going on, very intriguing. I think it's good enough for a three episode test. I didn't care for the series ED though, not really the song, but the random nudity that really clashed with the tone set up by the first episode.

My thoughts exactly! I'll be skipping the ED from now on if I stick around, but the song was pretty good

I think that was ok. Some things interested me, but the pacing did not please me and the animation as a whole is pretty strange.

She doesn't have a knife at that point tho.. Dad grabbed it when he stopped her from her suicide charge earlier. Could see her grab a nearby weapon and start poking holes in bad guys, but she was unarmed when entering the hideout. In my personal experience, it would fall within the range of normal for a woman to go stabby over "her" child. A cold blooded woman would be the type who could stop herself and think things over calmly and logically.

Haven't read manga and just watch this

1. Good opening song
2. Nice sound effect

And whoever this secret organization is, I predict that the reason why most of them are newbies is because if you're too sinful you'll be devoured by that monster at the end

First of all, the only thing that really bothered me was the animation. In some scenes I was dazzled, in others I wish I could stick some sharp thing in my eyes. Like the first scene with the blonde girl, omg, her eyes... And then when everything stopped and the Harold. It's confusing... Hate/love.

But then, omg, the whole vibe, a dark and paranormal plot, I loved it so muuuuch!!! The OP with MIYAVI, the ED with sexy/cute Juri... it's just... I loved everything about it!

Was pretty hyped because of the synopsis and now I'm pretty glad because it didnt let me down.

ehhhhh, i'm a lil' on the fence on this one. i'd rate this first episode a strong 6 to a light 7 (i've awarded it a 7 for now, though). the animation quality i can tell just isn't going to be good, but i'll stick with it if the plot holds strong.

my problem is i worry that it won't, though. i'm anticipating another juuni taisen where it all falls to shit very quickly lol. i'm willing to give another 1-2 episodes a try though before i write it off.

The OP and End are so misleading, i wonder if they will take this series in that direction, the manga doesn't even has a hint of any of that.

Quite a strange show. The first part of the episode seems to be such a slice of life with the transition story to science fiction, and then we get a lot of action without any exposition and fanservice ending with light yuri vibrations. I'm a little disappointed, but I still have a desire to watched this title in the future.

Well, the opening sequence is just a bunch of eerily moving pictures in everchanging colours. For someone to date call it "Intro of the Year"... well, I guess I have lost the standards along the way. Gratefully. The ending sequence is simply not as empty. Unless of course this is the "Agent Paranoia" kind of series. Then it does not matter at all. Even less than it did for AP.
Interested, but not enticed. As the father started questioning the scientific justification of the setting, so I began to question the possible value of this series. I shall see it to the second episode before grasping the essence firmly, but if anything this series first episode did not leave me either in tears or smiling after its end. Indifferent. Which terrifies me the most.

"Mystery + horror" basically translates into "supernatural". Though if it goes full horror for even a fraction of existence (scare for the purpose of the scare) I will not endure it any longer.

Looks like a good-old-fashioned thriller so far. I like that the Yukawa family is depicted warts and all, and the stasis could be spooky enough to carry the series.

The ending animation with all those fanservice shots feels a bit awkward. In this very episode Gramps talked about people being "lead astray" in the stasis, specifically mentioning the predatory kind of voyeurism, and then we get all those "oops I didn't notice you were looking" shots in the ED. Those drawings wouldn't be necessarily all that weird by themselves, and sexual themes are very common in thrillers; it's just the context that makes it odd. It could be intentional, but it still feels goofy. Maybe it'll make more sense once we meet the cat themed woman?
