Slice of life with bits of history and archeology...nice, relaxing stuff
"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')

Nice. I'm glad we got to see his teaching, instead of a weekly mission cutting class short.

How come all the students are old and middle-aged men and women? What kind of university is this? No wonder it's being taken down

It was a very heartwarming and inspiring episode. A re-evaluation of one’s past and facing one’s own potential in the context of reality. Aside from Keaton’s own identitiy issues explored, the bond between him and the professor and the bond between the father and daughter were so special. A man encouraged and inspired by his professor and daughter in the same manner, the wisdom of the old and the enthusiasm of the young. Such a sweet story!

That episode was pretty good, certainly the best so far. It seems this show might be starting to pick up a little bit.

Nice to get some insight into Keaton's past.

And how the heck can he afford to travel so much?!

Now this is slice of life I can get down with. It feels very authentic and it's warm without having to overplay the sentimentality.

In many episodic series the main character is left as a blank slate, so I'm grateful they're building the character, giving Keaton a backstory. Even if the stories change, little by little we learn a bit more about him. Such a nice character to watch.

Grad students taking advanced courses are typically in their late twenties to mid thirties, many times even much older.

Only five episodes in and I appreciate this anime even exists. Masayuki Kojima and Tatsuhiko Urahata put an obvious amount of care and love into the story. The animation, notably the landscapes and architectural designs, are nothing short of breathtaking. Hopefully the rest of the series continues to do Urasawa, Katsushika and Nagasaki justice.

Glad that the school, Simmons Adult Education Center, was nestled into the cozy Paris scenes. The episode was a little bit of a tearjerker for me. Planting the themes of the passage of time and the continuation or pursuit of education and knowledge. Generally if it's something you love to your core. What I love most about this episode is that the students have distinctive personalities, their interaction with Keaton gave a ton of immersion to the environment of the lecture. Professor Yuri himself has the charisma you would expect for being a fundamental part of Keaton's history. It made their reunion a sentimental one! It looks like Yuriko Hiraga, Keaton's daughter, is going to take after her father. She's a great addition to the episode!
