THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Welp, they didn't waste time jumping into the action this episode. Ren also clashes against Kei Sakurai and it's one heck of a fight. That Shirou guy is also quite though. Sigh, Ren really got himself caught into a world of trouble. Reinhard's powers are fucking scary by what he demonstrated. Damn cliffhanger. |

Lots of action in this episode. Shirou is pretty strong. He froze Wilhelm with liquid nitrogen, but that wasn't enough to defeat him. Ren fought Reinhard, but he's way too strong. His army is in the millions. |

While I was aware that Karl promised to prepare more proper foe for Reinhard, I expected more or less for Reinhard to be clueless about him, but seems like he knows some stuff, well meaning at least that he's related to Karl. Still sad Reinhard hair isn't short:/ |

Ok, this episode was interesting. The scene in the beginning with Shirou would certainly feel weird for anime-only watchers, with him breaking the fourth wall. Though it was nice giving some explanations of his abilities before the fight (also, a little foreshadowing). The fight between Shirou and Bey felt shorter than in the VN, but at least we saw Bey cover in liquid nitrogen lol. Ren fight with Sakurai didn't pack as big of a punch than in the VN, and it also felt much shorter. Now, the big surprise of the episode: Ren's fight with Reinhard. This was way longer than in the VN lol. For some reason, they upgraded Ren to his Eine Faust Finale form, but he didn't use any of that form's abilities (outside of speed and strength), and Reinhard used Gladsheimr. I got to admit that I actually enjoyed the fight. Reinhard using thousands of soldiers, ships, and planes, just for Ren to destroy them was pretty sweet. The only big downside of this fight is that it feels like too big of a jump from the previous fights, the scale her is way bigger than before. For any anime-only who things that this was OP, you haven't seen anything yet, Reinhard wasn't serious and he wasn't even at full power. All in all, I liked the episode. PS: Marie NOOOO!!!! |

As a VN reader, I must say this episode felt really weird. I guess that the giant skeleton was supposed to be the visualization of Reinhard's power which was described beutifully in the novel (of course they had to adapt it somehow). The nitrogen scene also was somewhat different and Ren going into Eine Faust Finale out of nowhere was totally random. I must say that I really liked Reinhard's pressure crushing down the bridge. I'd rate today's episode 4/5. Can't wait to see the Battalion of Three playing instruments in the castle ;) |

This episode was quite decent and for the first time I quite enjoyed it. I liked how they handled some of the scenes, like explaining the importance of Shirou´s deja-vu (it was a good addition in spite of Shirou breaking the 4th wall) or how Ren freaked out when he sensed Reinhard as he was fighting Kei. Even the action parts were ok, a big improvement from the pathetic still shots so far. Shirou vs Willhelm was quite short, but they still delivered the point home with how Shirou outsmarted his opponent. The Reinhard confrontation felt a bit weird (and funny) with the original take they did, but that aside it was still enjoyable for the wrong reasons. Also, props for the OST since it brought out the best in some of those scenes... Mephistopheles in particular was amazing. |

The fight between Ren and Reinhard was totally different from that in the VN. Ren's transformation felt totally out of place, not to mention its animated form looked terrible as well. I wish the individual fights lasted a bit longer though, as they cut a lot of it from the VN. |

Okay, that was a pretty funny episode indeed, things to note- Best boy Shirou being badass as usual, the liquid nitrogen scene was executed differently but Ellie-Shirou best duo is there so no problem. Kei's anime design is horrible, she looked like Merc during that fight in the dark. Humble priest being humble as usual, Reinhard arriving to fuck up everything, guess they got sort of inspired from Rea route and tried to get Faust Finale form which was pretty hilarious considering how exaggerated it was, not to say about the planes and all lmao. Overall even if this is a meme adaptation a pretty fun episode, at least I am having a laugh at these new things. Nice usage of ost in fights. |

Unexciting animation (nothing new here though), a far less believable hydrogen scene, the moment Ren freaks out was kind of weird, Ren's final blow against Kei was anticlimatic, Ren turns into a flying spider that speaks like a robot unlike the scene in the VN, Reinhard goes full Godzilla/Mecha... that was weird. |

Even though the fight was mostly anime original, the power displayed by Reinhard and his Golden skeleton is canon, so eh, I'm not too concerned about it. Mercurius's shot from the Throne is also one of the best scenes in this anime and that was original too. I'm not sure if Eine Faust Finale isn't enough to damage Reinhard when only a few Swastikas are open and he isn't at full power though. Then again it was never said otherwise, so I guess this confirms it. |

Although Ren's formation became his final form but he didn't had any special abilities; pretty strange. Next episode will probably be Ren and Shirou fighting together as one entity? Even then, without Marie, can Ren even win? |

It will be necessary one day to understand that at the base they did not have money to produce this Anime, how do you with this base, to produce a good adaptation of a game with very long base? I am not against critical opinions, but I have the impression that one seeks the perfect adaptation without understanding the difficulties of production. |

Well that was interesting...i felt like i spoiled some of the Marie route for myself tho. Still only on the Kei route. Shirou and Wilhelm are great to watch as usual, the way they constantly mentioned Shirou's sense of deja vu was heavy handed tho. Shirou vs. Wilhelm ended slightly differently, there was no chase. But i like this change honestly. Ren vs. Sakurai followed the VN, and i lol'd at when he suddenly screamed in terror as he felt Reinhard's precense. It was also fun to watch Trifa laugh maniacally like in the VN. Everything after that tho was completely different...it was cool despite the animation being lacking by today's standards. But as someone who hasnt read the Marie route yet, i feel like i ruined it for myself... But overall, it was a gripping episode despite the lackluster animation and art. |

So... how does the powersyatem wirk in this world? From what i understand you gain the power of the person you killed and is able to do whatever he or she could do.(said in a previous episode i think) not too sure on that tho. And Reinhardt had an army in the millions, so does he have the power of millions?? And does he have the oower of all the soliders (german at least) that died during this world ww2?? If so how dis he get the credit and power for all those men?? Please somebody smarter clear this up to me, i dont ubderstand at all. |

Yeah the more you kill and take souls the more you gain power, Reinhard indeed have power of millions soldiers that all belong to his legion along with all the special power those nazi you saw so far However he's not at full power yet, you need to open 7 gates to get his back to world and for him to get his full power back, today episode he had only 2 gates opened like they said in the episode |

Reinhard is fueled by millions of jews and German soldiers, so it can lead their corpses like an army with his EX Rank Charisma. All the other members of the LDO (bad guys) once they die also become part of him and he can use their powers at will too. He's barely able to muster power at this state, the more swastikas that are open (may it be by killing hundreds of innocents or a powerful in a certain location) lead to him gaining more power so he can finally awaken at full power. At his strongest, Reinhard can destroy and repaint the multiverse with his own law, so yeah, he's crazy strong, literally god tier. |

If you're almost done with Kei's route the you got enough time to finish Marie's route. How do you like them till now? Kasumi and Kei's route I mean. Kasumi route was a good intro to the series, the crazy stuff only happens once the battallion commanders got involved. I liked how it went on to explain Trifa's motivations, it makes him easier to understand, not to mention making him one of my favorite chars. As for Kasumi herself, i liked her, she's basically the shining light of her friends, the mother figure that keeps Ren's normal life from falling apart. As much as i love Kei x Ren, Ren x Kasumi makes more sense. Ironically more deserving of the title "Sonnenkind" then Rea. I also liked how it introduced and resolved Kei's conflict despite not going into depth with it, Kei however took up like half of the show, i sometimes wondered if i was in the wrong route. But the route as a whole is great as an introduction to the Dies Irae universe. That ending tho. Sucks to know all of Ren's hard work is all for naught in the end. Kei route For Kei's route, its hel of alot more exciting thats for sure. Im in the middle of Kei vs Trifa btw. It literally started off with a bang. However it doesnt make sense to bring Honjou instead of Shirou to save Kasumi, you know, someone who can actually fight? But i guess if Shirou came, there would be no Kei vs Bey. Rea being able to summon the 3 commanders whenever she's in danger is asspully tho. The way Kei dealt with the crushing realization that her efforts will actually make her loved ones more miserable was touching and intriguing. She and Ren really are similar. Both just want to go back to their normal lives. However Ren keeps moving forward, holding on to what he currently has unlike Sakurai who squanders the peaceful life to bring back Kai and Beatrice, the people who fight to give her a peaceful life. The whole triangle between the 3 is filled with irony. Simply put, Kei is far more interesting then the other main heroines currently, not to mention being better looking. Schreiber is currently my favorite Commander, i didnt think someone could be more bloodthirsty and insane then Wilhelm. And the way Shirou dealt with him was awesome. I was screaming at Ren to hurry the fuck up before Schreiber goes lvl 3 on them lol. As for Ren vs. Cain and Kei vs. Trifa, its really fun as usual. Kei confronting Trifa for how he manipulated her and how he made Cain kill Beatrice was tense. Combining that with knowledge of Trifa's true motivations and past makes him more terrifying. It explains why he wants Kasumi instead of Rea, because her "Birth Canal" is too small for Reinhard to fit through. And thats where im at, having nice time with this story obviously. Oh and 1 more thing @ovy7 did i get Ren and Kei's relationship right? or was there more to it? |

VIKINGUBERMENSCH said: @ovy7 can you clarify a few more things for me pls? Can you sum up Lisa and Sakurai's backgrounds and motivations at this point for me? Reading something this long, im bound to forget a few things. Kei basically just lost what she considered her family (Kai and Beatrice) when she was young, Valeria plotted it out but he told her it was caused by the Doppeladler and they died defending him so if she takes Beatrices seat she could have her wish granted by Reinhard (who as the lord of the dead can resurrect people) and get them back. She was also a very lost child and Valeria used this to manipulate her into feeling like she belongs with the LDO. The long and short of it is she will stop at nothing, even the murder of the whole town of Suwahara, if she can get them back and live happily with them. This will be rehashed a bit more in Keis route which you're reading right now, and to a lesser extent the Verfaulender Segen Side Story which should be read afterward (I'd recommend taking a break from the anime btw, since we've reached the divergence point for the routes now, and they seem to plan on adding in things from other routes so they'll probably spoil Reas as well as Maries-They already did the Die Morgendammerung Side Story, for instance) Lisas motivations will be rehashed in Reas route where she plays a larger role, but more or less similarly to Kei she wants to return the life and happiness of the orphans she ruined in the Lebensborns experiments (though unlike Kei and more like Valeria, she's rather self effacing, maybe even self hating and doesnt so much want to be with them the way Kei does). Though she is often contradictory and doubtful about this and whether or not she wants to be saved herself as well, as she admits is her nature-being a confused mess. Here's the spiderman moment from the Rusalka LN of a conversation between Rusalka and Lisa which shows quite a bit of Lisas character (the first page, in any case); https://i.imgur.com/ZdcV6Lc.png |

Are they trying to kill main character dude or not? Are they testing him? Why are they trying to make him their enemy? Is it just because they want war? I'm a little lost. Pretty much I just want an explanation for the villains goals, how mc got those powers and who is this special person he's reincarnated from and why is he so important? Let me know unless this will be brought up later on 1-No they are not trying to kill the MC if they wanted to they would gang up on him or Reinhard would just kill him right there 2-They are testing him and trying to make him stronger so he can battle them 3-It was explained in the anime, basically to summon Reinhard to the real world you need to open 8 Swastikas and to open those Swastikas you need to have bloody battle on them or kill hundred of people, Ren is their pawn he need to fight them at every Swastikas location so it can open Again the LDO "Nazi guys" are trying to Summon Reinhard and his so they can join him in Valahala and get their wishes granted, it's all was explained in ep 4 of the anime Ren got those power because Marie the guillotine princesses is staying in his body thus granting his super power and stuff, without her he's normal guy |

I've only watched the anime portrayal of dies irae so I don't know how it actually looks (i.e. ren and Heydrich's skeleton susanoo thing), surely it's not like that though Bit different https://m.imgur.com/ZoxLIeE http://s2.narvii.com/image/dtq4xs3pdfgfjrsf54gg7puwj7cmzsev_hq.jpg Funny in the whole VN EFF Ren vs Beast never happened |

@VIKINGUBERMENSCH For how important Kasumi was in the common route she get downplayed later even in her actual route, it's not like the girls are even that good to being with "aside from Kei " Best part of the VN is the Guys even the creators admit it |

This episode was pretty damn enjoyable despite the lackluster animation. As far as readers are saying this episode was mostly original, but despite that it gave at least some idea further. Tbh I'm gonna give it a 7 because at this point the series is legitimately expanding through. Which is neat. |

It wasn't exactly well animated or anything, but at least we got a few decently entertaining fight scenes this week, even if they have unfortunately set things up in such a way that it's going to take one hell of an asspull to stop Reinhard. |
