The hunt as begun. Kurapika was freaking epic, but if he have all the Troupe searching for him, he'll need his friends to help him.

Kurapika went full rampage mode. Damn, mastering all the specialization? That's way too OP! Well, he's freaking OP against the Phantom Troupe, with the condition he putted, against other people, he would become average.

Uvoguine got owned pretty easily. I thought he would offer a better resistant, but he was an arrogant fool. If all the Phantom member act like this, they won't last long x)
But hey, there'll be a change in the plan, the leader said. Kurapika ain't safe anymore. Though, Kurapika got a trump card, and it's called Hisoka.

I don't care if they explained why kura has that ability, it's still dumb ass hell..like why the fuck would the author make such op bullshit smh.

Also all these people saying it only happens when his eyes are red, that's pretty much every battle. cause your emotions build when in a fight, and if they build that means his eyes will turn red and he'll have his special.

I don't even feel like continuing the series after this episode. It's complete bullshit that he becomes a master of every form of Nen with his eyes. With that he can pretty much become the strongest character in the series.

I imagine it took a lot of self control to meet in a random building and somehow get to a deserted area without one of them attacking the other one.
And lol Ubogin: he just tosses his crumpled beer can at Kurapika. In the 1999 version he crushes it into a bullet and shoots it at Kurapika who nonchalantly knocks it away with his chain.

keeeeeeeeewl :o

IMHO, the 1999 version was more memorable and impactful, the 2011 was a standard but good shonen fight.

i'm going to have to check out the '99 version but i doubt it.

HxH is very logical and realistic when it comes to gaining powers. Just like in real life where you can either earn money by working and gradually building up your wealth (where how fast depends on your talent, but you can't escape having to work hard for some period) or taking a huge risk to get a huge return in a short time (like gambling or investing). Only in rare occasions do people inherit huge wealth without doing anything.

Similarly, in HxH world you only get huge powers from long time training or from harsh conditions, restriction or risk. Kurapica's red eye condition fall in that rare occasion of 'inheritance' , but even it has time limits (he was tired after only fighting 5 min).

HxH don't follow the standard unreasonable shonen rule where the protagonist has to be the strongest, so they become stronger than fighters who've trained for decades (and in Bleach centuries) within months without having to take on any risk or restrictions.

So unless Gon use the risk and return trick, or inherit some privilege power from his dad, he will have to go the long way to built up power.

pretty much 100% agreed.

People, Do you guys skip the developement of the whole story and subjagate his scarlet eyes under a category of "Hax".
The episode and the basis of nen clearly points out that their is affinities that are more akin to nen. Chrollo even eloborated on it at the end of the episode. Kurapika is a conjurer which makes him more susceptible to Special abilities,Chrollo said this himself.Manipulators fall under the same category. If Kurapika was an enhancer he would have never had specialiazation skills because he would have grown up in a totally different lifestyle and thought process to even use his eyes in that sort of way. Enhancers are the least kin to specialization...

Also Kurpaika is still badass even with out Emperor time. Uvo even said his tribe was strong. He just grew up wanting revenge and nothing else, which ultimately made him a conjurer. Stop taking the story out of context and actually read the material.. Nen is that complex... =[]

thanks so much for that. made pika even more epic :p

Maybe kurapika was able to beat Uvo because of the conditions on his chain, but how was he able to :

-become that fast (Uvo couldn't keep up with him at some point)
-take a straight 100% big bang impact, and get away with only his arm broken
-learn such advanced technics, such as In an Gyo

All of that in 6 months.

1. Well KP is small and Uvo is big so that's a natural advantage, not to mention that he usually catches him off-guard and Uvo himself stayed away because of the chain.
2. Ko? He's also an enhancer at the time remember?
EDIT: Also KP is not the same as the ground which means less resistance for him so he'd just get knocked away 100 feet in the air instead of eating the whole punch with max resistance and gets obliterated

3. Well they're not that advanced, Gon learned it in a few days, Killua even less. Kurapika had 6 months, that's way more than enough to become a PRO at using them

plus pika is definitely more advanced in nen than they are between the three, although gon and killua are nothing to blow dirt dust at. if they're every 1 per 10mil, just imagine pika....Q.Q

noonealive said:

Did you not watch the episode? Kurapika even asks why Uvo didn't use Gyo either. He used it way later. Kurpaika MANIPULATED Uvo and made him believe that they were real chains with strong nen reinforcement. So there was no reason to use Gyo on a visible chain. Kurpaika was being arrogant and cocky which further distracted Uvo. It's pretty simple and easy to understand why Uvo lost. The episode explains everything.

right. that only proves how powerful he is in nen.

Amazing animation and overall episode. Only thing the old did better was having more intense BGM during the fight scenes like this one:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pn57LMgIpUo

I also liked the different approach with voice acting. The captured Uvogin scene DESTROYED the old version though! I really loved the added brutalilty in that scene and just the look in Kurapika's face overall (having 2 scarlet eyes is way more epic)

The old version had Kurapika show signs of regret after killing him, but this version makes him go straight up to calling his comrades! (as it is in the manga) I can't wait for MH to reach the later arcs : ) I'm so pleased with this version.

"regret"? o_. no, in '11, he was just showing signs of whatever happens to a normal person who has just killed someone in cold blood. he was sure to lock the part in beings that hold them back from killing and embraced the cold side. it would be the only way to do it. then later on the more human (or kurta, or whatever) side to him opens and he feels the terrible (NOT guilty) part of him.

but hey. he had to kill the people that've done him some bad.

Mormegil said:

LOL @ that shifty glance. Chrollo had better watch the fuck out.

Strangely enough, that was my favorite part of the episode. Heh. Hisoka tends to steal every scene he's in, even when he isn't doing much.

Needless to say, fantastic episode. As always, the fight was more dynamic than the "original" fight. I also liked how Kurapika didn't break down as much here, but was obviously struggling with what he was doing. I've seen some people on other blogs call Kurapika a boring character or too humorless when it comes to the rest of the cast, but that's a crappy reason for not liking him. After all, he's had a tough life, and a large part of his personality is his drive for revenge. Kurapika's carefree and likable personality when he's, say, hanging out with Gon and company, or even talking with Melody, serves as a nice contrast to when he's otherwise wrestling with his own humanity. In fact, it's that last part that makes him so fascinating and, while I sincerely hope he stays the likable guy and retains his humanity, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in seeing how far he goes in his revenge against the Spiders.

dem eyes......

all of the characters are interesting, really. i can't name a favorite but pika is just so mind blowing in this.

Kurapika sure was GAR, but the most intense moment came just before and after death. Poor kid. You weren't made for this life. :(

Love the juxtaposition of Kurapika against the blood moon before the contacts came off. Nature exists to express your rage.

but was that moon just to show the audience how he feels? he couldn't have actually turned the moon red....right D:

OH. MY. JEEZ.

HYPE. I SERIOUSLY HAD THE HYPE THIS EPISODE. i was shrieking my head of at the pure awesomeness. take a moment to put aside pika and uvo, although i admit it will be hard.

the animation was 10000% on point. that freaking music was 80000% on point. lastly the voice acting was 20,000,000% on point.

this BY FAR is THE BEST fight so far. i literally had hype for three days after i saw this. hisoka vs gon is number 2.

SERIOUSLY. HAVING ALL ADVANTAGES IN NEN. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES BABY! of all people pika needs it the most!

but i really loved the part which calmed down, near the end. pika lost it for a second and shouted at uvo just how disgusting work he was doing. he really didn't like this but he had to do it. for avenging and for justice.

was absolutely sad when i heard the ending. i felt cheated that an episode could end so fast. this episode at the very least should satisfy the bloodlusty people of HXH, desiring it like hisoka wants to fight :p

just...100/10. M/H is definitely going to be admired (and copied :p) for the utterly flawless, fantastic work.

togashi should be proud.

That was pretty enjoyable fight. Kurapika does seem a bit too overpowered to me though with all these OP chain abilities, its more understandable for me by the end of the episode after the Phantom troupe boss basically saying Kurapika's abilities naturally some of the best to stop a Nen Enhancer user like mr meathead. And also b/c of his condition he set with chains to be very specific to phantom troupe members.

I think its really bs he can 100% all categories of Nen when he has his eyes activated? Did I understand that right?

Well whatever for now, it was still a fun fight to watch. I'm keeping mental tabs though to see if Kurapika is still so stupidly OP against other phantom troupe members and other enemies later in the series. I'm guessing since he owned this dude so easily Kurapika will be hard pressed to defeat other PT members , especially since they know more about his abilities now.

Gawds this episode was so epic. Up until this arc I thought H x H was a really good show, but didn't see why so many people recommended it to me as the "best shonen". I mean there's still a lot to go and we'll see, but this was certainly a good glimpse at how awesome this show can be.

Lol what do you mean? It's aimed at 13 - 17 year olds and it was serialized in Shonen Jump. Just because there's some dark/serious stuff in a shonen, doesn't mean you can classify it as a seinen or whatever haha, people do that with Death Note and other such dark shonen all the time, but they're still shonen.

Darn, I underestimated kurapika. Now that I see he's able to take down a spider member, I can't wait to see more fights between him and the spiders!

So I'm guessing that the other troupe members will chase after kurapika?

I really loved that black and white moment where Uvo gets killed off and Kura's eyes still be red *O* beautiful.

Also, very respectful of Kurapika to give Uvo a proper burial, whether it be out of personal morals or to conceal where Uvo's body is. I think it's the former, but yeah. *applauds* So admirable, considering Phantoms are the epitome of his hatred.
