| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Adaptating chapter 50+ , I'm impressed by how faithful this anime has been with panel by panel segments. The comedy is still great, mostly for the character reactions. They even made a guy with shoes on look fashionable! It's refreshing to see this episode take a break from shogi. Also nice to see more of the girls again :3 They are adorable as ever. On the other hand, Hina is not feeling so cherry. Interesting to see more of Rei's past too even though it wasn't so pleasant. |

| After that brief appearance in ep1 we finally get to see the girls again! And more importantly the cats xD Rei's sad past is back in full force in this episode, as if to balance out his current relatively happy life at school and with the shogi dudes. Hina was spacing out a lot during the episode, was wondering if it was about Rei or Takahashi; but from the last scene it's probably something more serious. Maybe bullying? |
| Great episode again. The shoe comedy in the beginning was gold. Glad to see the sisters again, their segment was really adorable. Hina though, that post credit scene killed me on the inside. :( Rei's past makes me so sad no matter how many times I hear it. T.T It's both nice and sad that Rei instantly picked up on what happened when he saw Hina. |

| The scene in the beginning was pretty funny. Kengo is a huge guy. I'm happy to see the sisters again. Momo coming up with ideas for a new candy was cute. She is definitely the best granddaughter. Got to know more of Rei's past. It's not so pleasant. I feel sad every time I hear it. I wonder what's going on with Hina. She looked so sad at the end. |

| This episode basically TL;DRs my overall feeling about 3-gatsu, going through the first half of the episode was painful because the comedy is just terrible to me, but the second half was probably my favorite of the series so far, that hurt to watch. Let's see what happens in the next episode, that after credits made a solid cliffhanger. |

| Damn it, why'd it have to end there, just as it was getting good? I mean, it's kinda annoying considering that everything before the OP was pointless and could (and really should) have been cut, but other than that this was still a good episode; weaker than the previous two, but still not terrible or anything. The second half in particular, even before the post-credits scene, was very interesting and helps to explain a lot more about how and why Rei was how he was at the start of the show. |
| I feel bad for Rei more and more every time we see additional elements of his past. He had a rough childhood. Hina is clearly getting bullied, and it looks like the bullies stole her outdoor shoes, forcing her to walk home in those sandals. Seeing her cry was painful and I hope Rei can help her overcome this. |

| The first half was incredibly funny. It seems like SHAFT went more SHAFT on the comedy which made it better for me, really quirky :D The signs were there already when Hina didn't partake in any discussion or usually good moment in the family. She was just so into her drawings as if she wants to escape from reality. The parallel is being drawn to Rei who was bullied in school, yet he didn't care about it cause it was his daily life basically after his parents died. He got shogi which was his savior. Hina is likely experiencing this for the first time and she doesn't have anything to lean on, at least she feels like it from my viewpoint, her family and Rei are there for her but she shuts it off. I feel like these next episodes will break me hard and i'm not ready. |
| Really strong episode. Hope Hina's gonna be OK - she's such a sweet girl. It's heartbreaking to see her cry. And Rei's backstory is always sad, full of loneliness. |
| Chapter 51 is basically a recap of Rei's personality and history established in season 1. Nothing wrong with that, but nothing new, either. There is the cliffhanger post credits, which is ironically the most interesting part of the episode. |

| The feeling you get when you know someone understands your pain. This episode was an emotional rollercoaster for me. I don't think I'm going to be the same after watching this episode, I'm legitimately terrified to watch the next. The writing in this series truly is fantastic and fantastically-painful. |
| Brilliant monologues per usual. I loved the analogy that Rei used his shogi board as a life saver to stay afloat. I thought that was perfect. I loved the shoes part at the start of the episode. It was unexpectedly funny. That cliffhanger though! What happened to Hina? If she's getting bully I hope those bullies get fucked up. No one does that to our sweet little Hina! |

| Nice episode. DAMN those are some big shoes. Momo is the cutest & has the best ideas for new sweets. Everytime we see Rei's past it is so sad. Alright who made Hina cry. This is unforgivable. |

| As I've written before on the discussion boards of this show, 3-gatsu no Lion is at its very best when its focusing on Rei and the women on the show. So much goodness in these episodes and this one was no exception. What a cliffhanger too. |

| yes the sisters are back! But no! Hina is getting bullied! No bully :( This episode was great, solidifying Rei backstory and character insight. Great stuff. PS: The over ecstatic grandfather at the end saved me from leaving with a sad feeling. |

| Love to see the monologues return, that's when I'm most absorbed in this show. Cool to see Kenshi Yonezu (singer of 2nd ED of first season, and 1st OP of BnHA second season) draw the endcard. |

| Holy shit the transition from Momo and the cats excited for the donuts to Hina coming to home crying (probabaly because bullying) was demolishing. Is amazing how quick this can go from funny moments to sad scenes. Cannot wait for the new path the series will take with this. Momo is always adorable, but this episode was beyond cute! About Rei's flashback, like someone has said, it was just a reminder of the factors who made him who is today and defined his personality. Nothing new, but still well made at least and we see Kyouko for some seconds too, so I don't have any complaint regarding that. |

| Another great episode. First half was quite light-hearted, usual stuff in the Shogi place. Then we looked into Rei's past. The bulling, the getting called a robot. We've heard about it before but I think this was the most clear look into his isolation as a child. And it seems poor Hina might being going through something similar (minus the "robot" name calling). I still love all the scenes at the sisters' house. |

| I was trying not to choke up when Rei was remembering the ladybug tree and his experience with bullying and then they just had to go there with Hina and I couldn't hold it in anymore. Nobody better be messing with sweet Hina! I hope Rei or someone opens a can of whoop-ass on whoever is doing it. |

Also, I'm amazed at how this series is able to juggle comedy and drama in the same episode. It's just brutal how the feels hit you after a good laugh. |
