Well that wasn't so hard. They managed to get back Tosaki although he didn't seem too happy about it..

Satou is still initiating his plan while I think the buildup is still thrilling. I just love how Satou didn't give a shit about those politicians.

I didn't expect another opening. I'm actually really liking this one compared to the first one. It really gets me hyped for whatever comes next.

It felt like the only reason the Americans existed was to stop Kei from interfering with Satou's plan. Mixed feelings for Izumi pulling out an IBM despite reaching her limit. Does this mean her limit has increased for the rest of the season?

The build up towards the end was really good. Preview is also looking really hype.

Tanaka really didn't seem too impressed with Satou's actions. For a brief moment he was looking really excited. It seems he actually wants to make a better world for Ajins.

Tanaka really did look happy for a few seconds.

Wow? a new opening? ugh though I'm still in love with the first season op..
The first half storytelling felt weird. Crap Tosaki looks fine even after that woman with American guy give him medicine in such dosage. Haha as expected that woman is going to betray her master.

Poor nakano. He didn't really have a much roles or time even to babbling around kek I'm dying..
We did this every day that summer. There wasn’t a day we missed.

Nice episode.

New OP song is alright.
Izumi & the others managing to rescue Tosaki.
American guy is dead. Hated that guy & the American Lady is free.

The minister is dead, but Kei's group has got another chance to take down Satou.

Hmm Anti-Ajin Special Forces. Lets see how they do.

Next episode looks crazy.

So glad Myers kill Almeida. Seriously the guy kept on threatening her just because she's an Ajin although I don't understand why Myers would hate Shimomura or the type of woman like Shimomura.

The battle will start next week isn't it? It's great that both the good and bad team got smart people with them that not only do we get action we get to see how they plan their tactics.

New opening song this week huh.. and just when I got used to the 1st opening too =_=

I believe it's because Myers hates that she's been enslaved and is disgusted that Shimomura would remain loyal to her duty and Tosaki despite being given an opportunity to escape, an opportunity Myers would kill (and does, teehee) to have.

That hate probably intensified after they shared memories when Myers realized not only did Shimomura throw away the opportunity to escape, she always had it because Tosaki kept her identity as an Ajin secret from everyone else; Myers was probably "recruited" from a government lab and had to put up with Almeida's abuse since killing him would have just resulted in their agency recapturing her.

Ahhh, thanks for explaining!! I guess I was just comparing their situations and thought that since Shimomura's condition is better and she didn't do anything to Myers that can incur her hate so there's no reason for Myers to hate her that much but when you said it like that I understand now :D

New OP sounds good. Tosaki wasn't too happy about being rescued. The minister is dead because of the rescue. The American woman finally killed the American guy. She couldn't stand him anyone. Next episode looks like things are going to get very crazy.

At this point I can safely say that this series isn't anymore what we used to call Ajin. It is completely different in way it is presented, characters have changed drastically and the whole world as it is presented feels different.

While before Ajin focussed on the larger picture and didn't waste time in meaningless conversations as well as defining characters through their actions and not just by cheap back stories and the pretentious words they say they now have come to the latter in both cases. Its really disappointing to see a series for which the second part started promising just throw away all the potential it has.
Yeah I'm biased since I did read the manga but its just way better than the anime at this point.

Nagai diverts the Americans into another street to cut them out. I liked how Izumi didn't shoot the American ajin, she shot the American dude because he was talking too much trash. The female ajin is now free from the lousy American.

Thanks to them going off to save Tosaki, they lose their only chance to kill Satou. But now Satou has told everyone where and when he'll be attacking. The government just make the anti-ajin squad legal. It appears that Satou is hiding something from the rest of the ajins. His
True intentions probably. Satou probably has no interest in getting ajins their rights, he's interested in massacre only.

Now Satou will be clashing with Nagai or the anti-ajin squad. It looks like some serious shit is going to happen next week.

Based on the preview, the next episode looks super hype and very crazy. I noticed Satou opened his eyes in the preview......when the dude who never opens his eyes, opens his eyes, you know shit will hit the fan.

Very good episode.

The IBM squatting on the Stop sign and throwing at the American car was so damn cool.
I'm glad that the American dude is dead and killed by the woman no less.

Tosaki was so mad. :o

Satou divulges his plan to public to make the use of his secret weapon more impactful, Anti Ajin Force is formed, Things are getting real interesting now.

Yeah I'm biased since I did read the manga but its just way better than the anime at this point.

Well, we knew they'd diverge the moment they let the CEO and his secretary get murdered, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's refreshing to see a new set of stories rather than just waiting to see something we know will happen get animated and I'd argue they're using their own way to define characters through actions rather than flashbacks.

For example in the manga they used an interview and a couple flashback scenes (Kei recalling Satou's torturing animals and the veteran recalling the cause of Satou's dishonorable discharge) to spell out that Satou is a psychopath that's doing all of this for fun, but in the anime we didn't need that to understand his character because it permeates his every choice; similarly the anime didn't need to introduce a throwaway character like the CEO's secretary (with accompanying flashback to explain Tanaka's connection to her) to stir Tanaka's conscience or set up his doubting Satou's sincerity to liberate all Ajins - they just used existing characters to achieve the same. I agree that expanding on Shimomura's flashback may have been unnecessary, but on the other hand the manga never did explain why she's so loyal to Tosaki despite him constantly reminding her there's a lab table waiting for her if she screws up too much, so I do appreciate it for that at least.

That being said, what characters do you feel are been changed drastically from the manga? From my perspective they're all still the same, only the actions they've taken differ.

As for the characters newly introduced in this season there isn't much to say since there has been still to little about them to say they changed much so about them its just hunches I can't really back by any good argument.
As for characters like Kei it however is differently. Though he seems to have lost the focus of the series which is kinda a shame since he is actually the most interesting of the whole bunch. While in the first season and the start of the second there is still his conflict with his own views and the views of others. He is mostly thinking logical and putting aside his emotions or sympathy while doubting everything around him. Especially after joining up with Tousaki he is especially on edge since he is surrounded by enemies who he has to cooperate with. While it is portrayed in the series through him losing control of his IBM because despite him being human he hates most of them. However in the next episodes he entirely loses such a conflict and gaining control over his IBM which he hasn't been able to control other than through his IBMs rebellious nature. He then is still portrayed as logical when Shimomura is trying to rescue Tousaki. However he didn't really put up much of a fight and just seemed to get convinced that it would be the best course of action. His entire view of his 'companions' and Tousaki should have made them be disposables in his mindset. Unless Tousaki was key to their plan he would have no intention of risking the entire operation just because someone of the disposables was hindered in taking part. If however Tousaki was key to the plan he wouldn't have said no to rescuing him in the first place just setting priorities since they didn't know where Tousaki had been taken.

As for the others I feel have changed drastically most of them haven't had enough screen time or are just portrayed differently by the story right now.

The greatest change you notice and which has quite the impact on the characters is the change in story telling. While I must say that the american investigators at first struck me as an good idea they are way to bland characterized. The evil villain who has basically no other trait and the 'slave' feeling discomforted and breaking free of their shackles. Plus her IBM and Shimomura's clashing heads was just unnecassary and felt somehow wrong to me. The whole part about rescuing Tousaki was just a big jumble of bad storytelling and way to many coincidences. For example the part on the parking lot where the two americans hide and Shimomura finds them. Just before we heard Kei and Nakano search for Tousaki. However when Shimomura starts shooting they don't seem to hear any of the even though they were close enough for the americans to hear Kei not talking too loud while Nakano was shouting. Another situation are both the times the two americans where able to just get away without anyone stopping them. The first time in the house where they just could leave without anyone noticing where they were or starting to regroup when they didn't find Tousaki in their first search. Second one was at the car clash. Why did Kei and the rest take forever to arrive at the scene even though it wasn't that far away from where they originally where?

So last but not least is Tanaka. While I apreciate the fact that they are trying to make him look like he is interested in the overall Ajin situation it is somewhat done wrong. All the time till now he has been portrayed as being crazy but not completely psychopatic like Satou probably. His reasons for being hateful and focussed on revenge were pretty clear. Though he has always been a character rather neglected in development so changes in his character even though he hasn't really been defined properly or undergone any characterchanging events feel quite off.

As for your last remark about only the actions being the difference. You might be right in that part but in my opinion the actions characters take make who they are. So if you were to set already established characters into another scenario they would take different actions but still according to their characters nature and not to fill some plot convenience. What I'm not trying to say is that the series isn't Ajin anymore. I'm just saying the series is a different Ajin then it used to be. The anime and the manga have very few in common now except the previous narrative they share.

Do you think there are no changes in character or don't feel uneasy about the way it is portrayed at the moment?

Excellent episode. Liked the new opening. Story is progressing in an interesting way. With the special team officially recognized there surely will be a lot of action in the next episodes.

Liked how the problem with the Americans got resolved. And again a scene with Nagai and the American professor talking. Such a fun/cool guy with his cigarettes (and in one of the previous episodes when he joked about it) and he is giving good advice.

5/5 for this episode.

In regards to Kei's decision in rescuing Tosaki: it was consistent with his ruthlessly logical character, because he was ready to abandon Tosaki to protect the mission, the reason he changed his mind was because Shimomura lied that Tosaki had the Minister's schedule; without that schedule the mission would have been a failure anyway, so evacuation became pointless and rescuing Tosaki became the priority.

It's true that he resolved his IBM's rebellious nature too quickly, but to be fair it was never really a big problem in the manga either since he had no trouble controlling it by giving reverse orders; the conflict in the anime seems pointless at first, but perhaps it's supposed to be what starts the change in his personality, so when he suddenly pulls that inevitable 180 and makes an emotional decision at the end of the season it won't be so out of character (the manga arguably did worse in this regard, given how it clumsily reintroduces Kei's mother and has her monologue about that hidden emotional side Kei apparently has).

Regarding Tanaka: I don't really see that huge a difference in portrayal, because in the manga he's the sidekick who starts off angry and seeking revenge, but mellows out over the course of the story without anything to really drive that change; he's more or less the same in the anime, except they made him more invested in the Ajin situation, so he actually has something to drive that mellowing out. Ultimately he's the same character, but slightly improved because he actually has a motivation that justifies the positive change.

As for the directing in the last two episode: yes, there were some problems with the timing of arrivals, it was overly convenient how the agents managed to escape from the secret room, and some shallow token characters introduced for no reason than to introduce conflict... but that's nothing the manga isn't innocent of either. The shallowly evil CEO was replaced by the shallowly evil American agent, the security guards somehow failed to pick up on the human hand hidden amongst the chicken wings (and how overly convenient it was that a guard would collect the wings despite not knowing if anyone actually ordered them), or how Satou magically knew when to throw himself in the shredder so he could respawn in the building, or how he managed to stay upright to create that hole in the safe room when he had his stump pressed against the wall (since he would have had to die to force the regeneration). The flaws in the directing don't really take away from it being the Ajin we know, because the Ajin we know has plenty of the same flaws as well.

How dumb that guy has to be to say that she is useless and should've been kept as an experiment rat in a pinch to an immortal woman who is your only hope in escaping alive.
These 2 episodes are definitely Izumi's show which is great, she is an awesome character. Kuro-chan please one more time. Awesome.Too bad Tosaki wasn't grateful for what she did for him, it seems he thinks the same way Nagai is - business comes before personal emotions.

Why do people who are on the kill list are not in bunkers or something? You would think that if you are 14 person in the list and all previous candidates died, you shouldn't be roaming around.
