----------------------------------------
Well, this was really cute. Poko is such an energetic kid, reminds me a bit of Tsugumi from Sweetness & Lightning.

Souta and Poka shares an interesting relationship so far, like a parent and son. The animation style has a bit of colorful palate to it, might have to get used to that. Otherwise, I think it was a decent start. The theme songs are well crafted.

Heartwarming. Not on the same level as Amaama to Inazuma yet though. But very nice.

Very nice start, I like the tone of the show. It's definitely gonna have a very warm atmosphere as it progresses.

It was sweet to see how Poko and Souta's relationship progressed in such a short span of time, They already have this very nice dynamic between then.

It was pretty interesting to note that Poko was able to tell that the conversation between Souta and those passerby's was inconveniencing for him, They way he tried to disrupt it was kinda cute. xD
Looks like there was truth in the priest's words after all.

So Souta gave up on the Udon restaurant because of peer pressure, That's sad. :(
Looking forward to more episodes.

This reminds me way too much of Barakamon, especially the designs, maybe that's because I watched Barakamon last night.

I think this is most like Usagi Drop, especially the animation style, but I like that it's adding fantasy elements to the equation. I'm going to keep watching it

This was super cute, getting some heavy Barakamon vibes, a little bit of Sweetness and Lightning and The Eccentric Family vibes as well. Very comfy, kind of nostalgic and sad in a way, looking forward to watching more. This season is really great.

Awww, this was so cute!! It reminds me a lot to Barakamon, though Souta is much cuter and caring than Handa XD
It makes me really happy that Poko seems to be a really energetic and sweet little boy. I didn't expect this show to be an emotional one, but after having my heart aching a bit in a few parts of this episode, I wouldn't be surprised if I cry my eyes out as the show goes on :')

Vey good first episode, can't wait to see more :D

Nice first episode. Catchy OP song & a peaceful ED song. Art style is nice as well.
Poko is adorable wearing that yellow jacket in human & tanuki form.

Yuuichi Nakamura taking on another fatherly type role. Well he does it so well.
Kana Hanazawa again. YAY!!!
Hopefully we see the Udon Shop open again.

LOL that Gaogao segment at the end. Looking forward to more.

Confirmed that Nakamura Yuuichi has become our resident dad.
I think his voice is pleasant enough for these character types so I don't mind.

The best part: no imminent high school girl to be seen yet, we don't want to ruin a series with awkward, shoehorned so-called potential romance!

I'm totally a sucker for sappy family type anime dramas like this. All I want, is a wholesome, safe-for-all family story with zero-controversies (i.e incest/electra complex)....but f-ing Usagi Drop (the manga, not the anime) forever ruined that for me. Now I can't watch any shows like this without being reminded of my hate for that manga ending. I'm just glad this show won't become like that, with her being a tanuki and all, and revelation that she's apparently permanently a child. So far so good with the first episode.

That she is actually a he, if that helps too.

Anyway, very faithful to the first chapter of the original manga. I really like the OP, a lot more bright and upbeat than I'd imagined. I'm also digging Sugita's voice for Nakajima too!

Eh, it was okay. It did feel a lot like Barakamon which is a good thing. For most of the episode though I was kinda bored. Once he started transforming it got a lot better though. I hope he learns to speak very soon or it's going to get boring rather quickly.

At a first sight, looks like a mix of Barakamon and Amaama to Inazuma. I think Souta could be more more "expressive" you know? The lipsync was okay but sync between actions and voice was like "meehhh this could be better". The ost, opening and ending are awesome. I'm really excited for this anime.

This was a heart warming episode. I was getting some Amaama to Inazuma vibes when I was watching. The visuals and sounds are very good. It's sad Souta doesn't run the restaurant anymore. Peer pressure sucks. Poko is such an energetic and cute kid, even in tanuki form. The skit at the end was funny. I wonder if there will be more. Looking forward to the next episode.

Goddamn. Well I guess we've got our daramatic SoL of the season here.
Poko was adorable, but I like the MC and his flashbacks as well. Looking forward to seeing more characters though. Poko acting cute is well and all, but watching the MC flounder around won't be all that interesting. Looking forward to seeing him cook though, since the animated udon bowls were making me hungry already..

The show seems relaxing at times, but the undertones are way more mature than Amaama to Inazuma, methinks.

Yup, this is no doubt one of the candidate for the SoL plus some supernatural for the season.
I guess the monk already realize about the real identity of Poko.

That was adorable and heartwarming, I agree that there's a more mature undertone to this than Amaama. I'm really liking it so far and can't see myself getting slightly annoyed later on. The comedy is not overdone too for my tastes. Nakamura Yuuichi really is suitable for that kind, caring older brother/father roles. His voice is so soothing. Really looking forward to seeing the interactions between the two, as well as the other characters.

Also, I love Weaver so much, that feel-good OP song <333 The ED song was great too.

This was pretty good. It's the Amaama to Inazuma of Fall. Pretty similar stuff. The two will be bonding over food and Souta will give the kid the feeling of not being alone and loved by someone.

Souta's family runs and udon restaurant and they were pretty popular among the locals. But after his dad died they closed up and Souta is looking after the place for the time being. And he meets a mysterious kid who turns out to he a Tanuki. Souta sees himself in the kid as he was jumping around in his raincoat. And the thing the shrine guy said is going to have some effect on him as he'll be wanting to give the kid someone to make him not feel lonely. And apart from that, everyone was expecting some good udon but is getting disappointed one by one so he might consider opening up again especially considering he now has his father's recipe book.

The OP and ED were pretty cool. This was a pretty strong episode and I'm going to be continuing even though my Saturdays are looking quite full.

So Gray Fullbuster is taking care of another blonde haired kid this season.
Okay, sure, why not. Amaama to Inazuma was enjoyable.

This story seems to have a heavier premise though. Could be that the constant rain magnified the depression.

Well, I guess this is this season's equivalent to Sweetness and Lightning then; heck, Souta is voiced by the same guy who voiced Kouhei in S&L by the sounds of it. That aside, this was a decent first episode, definitely did the job that this kind of show needs to do. Interested to see where this premise goes moving forward.

Really like the ED, but not fully sold on the OP just yet.

I'm curious about Souta's backstory revolving around his Injury and his disinterest in Udon. He grabbed his leg when he took a step and later on in a flashback he was on crutches, so I wonder if the 2 are related somehow.

Cute first episode though.

This is like Amaama to Inazuma meets Barakamon. Or vice versa.

It's nice to see a feel-good anime---makes you calm down.

And that OP though.

That's a boy? Doesn't look like a he though. Welp, either way, it's still the same.

POCO'S UDON WORLD IS GOLD. The visuals immediately suck you in the atmosphere with great backgrounds & pleasant music accompanying it. It has enough subtext with the characters to see more of them. Good op & ed. Overall very heart-warming & relaxing at parts. 4/5
Imagine a berserk anime by Yoshiaki kawajiri at Madhouse.
