Awesome to see FUNi blowing all their budget on a single show, keep up the good work.

Now hopefully CR steps up and doesn't release FUNi-tier subs because they are overloaded. At least the video quality will be better at any rate.

Still quite a few shows to look forward to that aren't here though.

Funimation are also working on their new streaming platform, meaning:
- They really can't be described as dying out
- They probably diverted some funds that could have been spent on simulcasts onto that instead.

On the other hand they could also still have more to announce.
There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do.

Dunno if we can go THAT far, I mean there are still shows like Gundam and Jojo in there which always sell like hotcakes. Plus the sheer quantity of series adds up. But yeah of course Boku no Hero Acadamia will do wonders on its own, no one is disputing that

CR doesn't sell any merch so it doesn't matter.
The question is how many will go to CR because of the sheer lack of FUNi shows and how many care enough about Boku no Hero to sub to FUNi just for it.

I'm assuming Funi will get Sakamoto, Kuromukuro, Seisen Cerberus, Flying Witch, Big Order, and Kumamiko. They're probably going to share some licenses as well (similar to how they did with Erased), like Bungou Stray Dogs since it's Bones. Funimation seems more likely to get Ace Attorney to me, and will probably be better since they might simuldub it.

Probably true but in general Funi has a bet rep and they probably arent profiting as much as they want to when they take all these shows.

There are too many alternatives and CR is the only streaming service actually worth the money due to multiple platform integration as well as timely subs.

Yeah, FUNi does have a bad rep. They're just digging themselves a hole tbh. I'm glad CR is getting everything as FUNi always finds ways to screw things over one way or another and I can trust CR more so even though they sometimes make terrible translations. FUNi used to take in a few shows each season, now they take in a bunch of shows and I doubt that did them anything. More shows =/= more money for 'em when they put only a few quality releases.

Sakamoto was taken by Sentai and the other titles left that aren't yet picked up don't really seem like something they'd go after, nor do they seem like something that would be incredibly successful. The only thing they'd probably get shared with CR is Aniplex shows, but that's only a maybe.

CR is kicking their ass this time around and CR is far from over with announcing stuff. The season starts tomorrow and still all they have is BNHA.

Forgot about Sakamoto, I heard about it being licensed, but didn't see it listed under crunchyroll even though it definitely will. Big Order definitely seems like their territory though, as it's by the creator of Mirai Nikki (which funi previously licensed) I'm assuming it will be popular this season. And Seisen Cerberus is the token edgy mobile game adaptation which are always popular in the west. Maybe not Kumamiko, but Kurumukuro doesn't seem that far off for them, P.A. Works projects don't exclusively end up on CR similar to how they got Haruchika last season.

I think people are overestimating how badly they're doing financially, they're by far the most successful anime licensing company in the west, I don't think investing in one relatively unsuccessful anime will bankrupt them.

Wow, where did all this funimation hate come from.

I think Funi is banking big on BNHA being the breakout hit this year, and spent the entire spring budget on that license.
2012: SAO
2013:AoT
2014: Tokyo Ghoul
2015: One Punch Man
Rumor has it they were trying really hard to get One Punch Man last year, but Viz swooped it up instead.

Well, they did get Kumamiko, which I wanted to check out, but fansubs exist.

I'll wait to more news. I am waiting for simulcast 12 Sai and Sakamoto desu ga. By this time, I am happy that Crunchyroll bring again Sailor Moon.
