The seiyuu talent agency Aoni Production has announced that Miyuki Sawashiro has joined its roster effective August 1. She had been affiliated with Mausu Promotion since debuting in 1999 as Petit Charat in Di Gi Charat. Sawashiro never attended voice actor training school, entering the industry after winning the Special Jury Prize in an audition for Di Gi Charat. At the time, she was still in the second year of middle school.

Sawashiro went on to become one of the most prolific seiyuu in the industry today. Her roles include Mine Fujiko in recent installments of the Lupin III series, Ayane Yano in Kimi ni Todoke, Kurapika in the 2011 remake of Hunter × Hunter, and Celty Sturluson in Durarara!!. She has won the Seiyuu Awards for Best Supporting Actress (2009 and 2015), Best Actress (2010), and the Overseas Fan Award (2011). Last year, she announced her marriage to a man from outside the industry.

Aoni Production, which was founded in 1969 and has a long history of working with Toei Animation, counts veteran seiyuu such as Toru Furuya (Mobile Suit Gundam), Masako Nozawa (Dragon Ball), and Mayumi Tanaka (One Piece) among its roster.

They're missing out on good talent, they need to see a seiyuu for their talent not if he/she got married or not.

Aoni's got a great seiyuu!

Sawashiro is one of my favourite seiyuu. I have been in love with her voice since her role as Shinku back in those saimoe days when it was still a big thing! I clearly remember Shinku was a semifinalist that year (I personally voted for her)! Wow! It's been 10 years already; she was still a young 20 year old seiyuu! Time flies.

While I am a big fan of her roles as Kurapika, Serika and Ayane, I love her roles as a maiden-madly-in-love like Kanbaru, Celty, Inaba, Kana, Hakaze or Onna Kishi. Seriously, her panting voice as she proclaims her love is such a turn-on for me! I can easily identify her voice but I never get tired of her voice.

The people calling her an old hag are the people she'd get her bodyguard to suplex for so much as looking at her so I guess it evens out. (ツ)_/¯

Anyways I like her voice she's talented. Good luck to her.

And you a virgin for lifetime.

I'd choose that woman over any of the younger seiyuu anytime. Incredibly sexy voice and great looks.

Does it affect her future roles somehow or something? I don't really know much about the seiyuu world. Nice to know these things I didn't know about the queen, though. <3

Is that why she just voiced the narrator in RnY this season? That way she doesn't have anything more than a 30sec speech to do for the whole anime so she doesn't have anything more to do? I was really hoping to see her as Mora Chester's seiyuu so I was a bit disappointed to see her as simply a 30sec narrator in the episode 1-2 instead. But if that's for somethign like this, can't be helped.

Sawashiro never attended voice actor training school,

Now that's crazy... O_o

Superfluous active because I always seem to see Aoni VAs everywhere I look (program-wise).

Who the hell cares about her age? She's a solid voice actress, that's all that matters right?

First Nao Toyama is a trash human being and now Miyuki Sawashiro is an old hag? Western "fans" are cringe.

These "otaku" don't even exist half of the time.

People just want to name call and pick on people like all the other bandwagon shills.

One of my favorite female Jap voice actresses!!!!! I've been craving her voice ever since I heard her as Celty in Durarara and Kurapika in Hunter xHunter. She has such as sexy and beautiful sounding voice: I can never get enough of it.
Not sure if this switch will make some noticeable changes in the roles she will get in the future.

Pffft, who cares about her age? Miyuki Sawashiro has more talent in her little toe than the average American dub voice actor has in their whole body, and that's all that matters

The wannabe otaku logic is strong in this one

Yey, good for her. She really is great. She caught my attention playing Ayane from KnT, but was in shock that she played Kurapika.
I hope she does well and is supported by the agency/company well giving her ideal roles.

It's not just MAL; otaku (like, authentic otaku. Not Americans who label themselves as otaku because they think it's cool) often think mid twenties is old enough to label someone an old hag.

And then they wonder why the only action they're getting is their own hand.

If you are right then most otaku are wrong. Who cares? it is her life to live. She is an amazing voice actress, my favorite female voice actress to be fair, and that isn't going to change just because she switches companies… nor for her marrying a guy. People who think lives of artists belongs to them are wrong.

Sawashiro won a Special Jury Prize (strange its usually awarded to movie?), audition for Di Gi Charat while in junior high. She didn't attend tech school, but I believe received guidance in Mausy (but she also attended college).

I wouldn't be surprised if she was passionate about acting and excelled in art while in 2nd grad school. If you're into theater, study and yearn it, you can do it.
