THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Damn, that was quite something... Quite nostalgic just seeing the crew members including the main cast again. Some good battle footage as well from the intensity of the environment. Kinda refreshing to see Apollo in the episode as well. It's been while since I've seen his presence in this franchise. |

Looks like the new characters are related to the two Jin x Yunoha (not just same seiyuus, but have memory of them?)? Temporary comment I got from watching director's cut broadcast ver.. Might edit later when complete ver. released on October 28, 2015. |

Listening to all the Aquarion Openings in just 1 ONA, it's wonderful. Watched it unsubbed, so, I don't get quite much of the story, but it's good to see Yunoha an Jin together...althought in a diferent timeline. It's also a sequel to Aquarion EVOL, and it's set before logos. |

So this post will be mixed between spoiler and my understanding(?misunderstandings) since the second season doesn't appear to be a direct timeline with the first season... I'm glad they gave a happily ever after for Jin and Yunoha in Shin and Yuno... It's sweet. The funniest part was the frog and Fudo basically setting it up for them... It's almost like Fudo was the one giving the element members happily ever afters once they get reincarnated... so sweet. They really tried to sell the Apollo is the reincarnation of Pollon bit with Apollo's Aquarion turning into a dog-like thing though. Honestly though, near the end where Apollo pushes Amata into Mikono and says go get her... kind of felt like a master (Apollonius) telling his subject (Pollon) to go find his happiness... EVOL makes me sad with the butchering of sousei's story & ending and they made this so ambiguous probably because of how it was butchered... This episode felt weird in in other ways though; Keep in mind that Amata and Kagura smell like each other, and they (as the reincarnation of Apollo, remember Sylvia's scent). The fact that Apollo and Kagura are at each others throats for smelling different makes you think that Amata/Kagura(Apollo & Pollon) and Apollo(Apollonius) are from parallel worlds, rather than a straight timeline. Don't you remember how Kagura said "you don't have a scent" to Amata... >.> This may be a stretch but there's no way they're the same world with the way EVOL disregarded all the "Apollo is Apollonius" proof from sousei. |

That was amazing!!!! Jin and Yunoha met their counterparts in another parallel timeline , Shin and Yuno. We also got to see the main characters from the 1st and 2nd Aquarion Series!!!! I felt so hyped! Again Amata -kuns undying 'Mikono-saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!!!!!!!!!" and orgasmic fusions never bored me. Nice OVA!!!! |

Wasn't EVOL a direct mix of the two worlds in Sousei (The movie/OVA, and the TV show), because Aquarion was sealed holding the world together from the ending of the TV show, yet the location movie/ova apollo grew up existed (Actually, wouldn't that be the reason there is two worlds in the first place? *shrug*) The movie had a lot more hints about Pollon the Winged Dog.. I dont remember him even being introduced in the show, other than the few times Rena mentioned Apollo was like a dog, and even saw him as a dog once. Although the memories Apollo had at points, do definitely hint towards Apollonius, since if the dog was always at their side to also experience those memories (which it could of been), we should of seen it more often. And I always believed Fudo was a pilot from the beginning; How in the world could he know what he knows, without having been someone important in the past? During the Sousei tv show, I had assumed he was merely the third pilot, but after the ova/movie stated that scorpio (Reika) was the third pilot, that left some major questions. EVOL stating that hes actually Apollonius makes a lot more sense to me. I can understand Apollo having access to additional information while in Aquarion, since Solar Aquarion is the Wings of the Sun; part of apollonius, meaning as long as hes synchronized with it, he legitimately is half of apollonius, which definitely seems to be the case from the first episode of sousei, when he sees apollonius in aquarion, eyes changing color, etc One thing that bothered me was Amata not being in his proper vector lol. Also, the dog form Apollo used.. did Kagura use that in EVOL? I don't remember, but I do know there was a few random forms for a short while in EVOL, just before the dark solar aquarion was formed. |

His depictions weren't really sunshine and rainbows back then... more like a "dark beast".kyled00m said: This episode felt weird in in other ways though; Keep in mind that Amata and Kagura smell like each other, and they (as the reincarnation of Apollo, remember Sylvia's scent). Fudo: "It's the light borne out of darkness, the genesis light from which the whole universe was made." On the other hand... Amata as the reincarnation of Apollo&Pollon held a much more limited elemental power skill set (of anti-gravity) and he didn't suddenly do anything that looked like a beast but rather more of an obedient pup... in both EVOL and this merged version... Even Kagura didn't really look like a wild beast... Even with all the attempts of Mikage(dark half of Touma) to turn him into a tool... |

I believe Fudo is a shadow angel... He's like a time-keeping shadow angel or something. It's not far-fetched to believe he sided with Apollonius. If he keeps records of time, he may even know (as with my belief above) that Apollonius is something more than a shadow angel? Let's face it, he clearly is the "only one" who can not only cause the tree of life to bear fruit and release a light to which causes entire universes to be born?... There's no other single shadow angel has that much power alone unless they're not a shadow angel, or not just a shadow angel. ... Apollo says he remembers the scent of a shadow angel piloting Aquarion 12,000 years ago (in the first season). It doubt it was Touma who was so distraught at his loss to a human to fight those 12,000 years against the humans. It was likely Fudo seeing as he's like the only one who's lived(?) long enough or has enough knowledge about Aquarion... The wings of Apollonius were not used to make Solar Aquarion. Touma bears a helm in the series and it is indeed mentioned that the wings on it are the wings of Apollonius. The other shadow angels even question his allegience because of it. Major speculation on how Season 2 could have come to be and Fudo(S2): Additionaly, you mentioned that Fudo was synchronized with aquarion and that in the second season, Fudo appears to be more like Apollonius... During the ending of the second season, Fudo "absorbs"(?) the soul of Mikage into his eye... It's not unthinkable that near the end of sousei, Fudo absorbed the Apollonius half of Apollos' soul. This would have triggered confusion in Toumas' soul that could have triggered it the dark half(Mikage) to split from it... This would mean that during the next reincarnation, Apollos' soul would have been "broken"(?) and it's possible that Pollon saw his chance to meet Celiane when the souls Apollo and Sylvia meet again in their reincarnation. "... Aquarion chose Apollo the same way a horse chooses it's rider."- Fudo (sousei no aquarion) Likewise, with all the time "shadow angel(?)" Fudo spent with Aquarion, he could have formed a bond. EDIT: I'm not so sure they even planned a second season when they made the first one. The english dub refers to the beasts collecting humans as harvest beasts but the sub labels them mythic beasts. I believe labeling the statue seen when Apollo calls to Rena in season 1 episode 16 as resembling Pollon or as a reason for Pollon to come into being is a bad joke. If I remember correctly, a similar statue is seen in the Aria series (the water planet, not the school one). The statue is one of many that reference mythical creatures as guardians. This show is left open-ended all right but the problem is season 2 didn't take advantage of the open-endness but instead said "take all that proof that Apollo was Apollonius and just ignore it because we say so." |

Eh, IMO this OVA, with the world-crossing, strongly implies Sousei and EVOL are parallel worlds. |

But EVOL (before this OVA) did not imply that and just butchered the first season. |

Coming at this with only exposure to EVOL from the Aquarion franchise so it was a bit of a delightful surprise seeing familiar characters. Although I was really sweet on Jin and Yunoha so I was rolling between interest, sadness, and vague annoyance at seeing parallel versions of them. :P |

This is the greatest work of fanfiction ever and I loved every minute of it! OG characters - check Song compilation - check Intense mech fight - check Ridiculous "dog" gattai - check+ Amata/Kagura/Mikono threesome gattai - check x3 OG Fudo - check clap Jin/Yunoha revival - check heart Mix's big bangs - check kiss Everyone singing the ED - check dead Only thing I didn't like was that it still didn't offer a proper epilogue to Evol. But wow, I haven't smiled that big in a long time. 24k years of love /10 |
