I think from Haruno's POV, She thinks she's had it rough since childhood and she realizes she has been molded by her parents' views (particularly the mother) into becoming a pessimist. Therefore when she sees Yukino starting to make friends and starting to open up as a person, jealousy comes into the picture. As much as she wants her little sister to be happy, she's jealous that Yukino is not going through the same suffering she had. And so I suppose Haruno unconciously teams up with her mother (the villain) to give Yukino a lesson. That's why in the last two episodes we get to see cold-hearted mama in action. This is my opinion on why we see mixed feelings and interactions in Haruno. _______________________________________________________________________________________ This is my first long post, so excuse me if I'm nervous >.< |

Damn. Who would've thought that a Valentine's episode would lead to so much drama coming to the surface like that. I certainly didn't expect it, but I did really like the way that the way the different characters all feel about each other started to become more obvious through the chocolate-making, especially the implications that both Yui and Yukino like Hikigaya. Although, with the way that Haruno was acting and seemingly trying to stir things up, I'm sure there's a whole lot more to it than that, and this just becomes all the more clear considering the conversation with Yukino's mother right at the end. |

I see, luckily the wait for volume 11 will be easier due to summer holidays. By the way, what is this White Album 2 i hear people mention all the time? And more importantly, how on earth does Haruno know about Hachiman's wish for something genuine??? |

Really good episode. Loved the ''siscon'' from Iroha xD She was too cute as always and Hachiman gets more and more flustered by that ^^ And Yui :( She's aware of Hachiman x Yukinon and she even refused to have him walk her home because it's unfair to Yukinon. That is heartbraking and the preview looks like it's gonna make some people cry. |

Sheesh Haruno always puts Yukino in a bad spot. Hachiman had a slight reaction, but not much 'cause its blatantly obvious in the past Yukino will give Hayama chocolates which Miura and Iroha reacted to; more so to the fact than when Kaori blurted out a lie about giving 8man chocolates that made all the girls who seem to like Hachiman to react. I really want to know the deal with Yukino and why she keeping the truth and telling part of it. By the looks of it he won't end up with anyone now. He may accept her for who she is, but romance won't happen I can see a perfectly opened, open end. Will there be a confession in the next episode? Possibly. . . |

So far there is no serious romantic advances from any of the characters, maybe next episode we will get one but probably not. |

This was a really fun episode, like from beginning to end it was none stop greatness that just had you wanting more For me, the episodes where everyone comes together under a cause are always my favorite because we get to see just how much everyone has grown and the interactions are always super funny and exciting This is weird but this episode made me realize that for the first time I honestly don't mind Hachiman ending up with either Yukino, Yui or Iroha, and speaking of Iroha, I never thought I'd say this but I freaking LOVE how she and Hachiman's dynamic and I think I like it more than the rest....She was just way too great in this episode xD Yukino's sister is one evil SoB for starting the drama in this episode LMAO.....I can only imagine the drama that's about to come and man I'm not ready for it because it looks like we may get some confessions possibly >.< Overall it was a great episode and I liked seeing everyone together again (I missed the silver haired girl.....The way she acts towards her little sister was too cute) |

Takuan_Soho said: Lonewolf13 said: Haruno is a victim to her mother and a oppressor towards her sister. She is both pitiful and disgusting yes. Those conflicting feelings towards her sister is possibly the reason she will according to the synopsis of next episodes, move to live with her for a week. In order to analyse what yukino means to her possibly No evidence. Indeed I would say the opposite. The mother had respected Yukino enough to let her live by herself (stated this episode) . Haruno called the mother out and made it seem like Yukino was doing something indecent, the mother rushed over to confirm, and if need be revoke this privilege (also stated). Up until that point the mother could be seen as the villain, but Yukino stared the mother down and said: "I will explain things to you tomorrow, so return home today". And the mother backed down. So while the mother undoubtedly has her issues, it is clearly Haruno who is trying to manipulate Yukino (and the mother), not the other way around. Again, this episode was Haruno baring her fangs, the mask hinted at last season has been stripped away. Nothing can defend her from calling the mother out to attack Yukino like that. Nothing. Accept it, she is a selfish vile person. Takuan_Soho said: worldeditor11 said: And here I was thinking that it was a joke rather than a jab at Haruno haters and whatever. It should be obvious with both Sagami and Yukino mentioned in the post. Furthermore, I never did insult anyone other than as a joke whenever they hate a character. If you want to hate a character sure, go ahead. If you want to love a character, again, be my guest. I am neutral on this. Not sure why the hell I am explaining myself like a criminal on a trial. Stop being such a friggin worm. At least have the courage to stand up for your position with facts instead of trying to wiggle your way out when someone shows you to be a tool. Don't try to explain it away as a "joke", only pathetic loser trolls try to say afterwords "it was a joke, it was a joke". People who hate Haruno after this episode are not "haters". They have every reason to hate her based upon her actions this episode. Unless you can explain how someone who called their mother and lied about what their younger sister was doing in order to hurt her sister is anything other than a vile person, then you have no argument. Reprehensible behavior is universally wrong, and lets not pretend that there are not such people in the "real" world. To defend such behavior is morally wrong, regardless of whether it is fact or fiction. Rats are rats, bitches are bitches, and pathetic loser shipping trolls are pathetic loser shipping trolls. And let me stress, I am not getting worked up over the show, whatever the writer wants to do is fine with me, and I would love to have an interesting debate where someone tries to explain what happened this episode can make Haruno anything other than a bitch. But what I hate are asses (and yes you are an ass) who can't make an argument, who think that trying to be clever is an excuse for being able to make an argument, who when confronted scurry away like a wounded rat rather than try to make a point. In short I respect humans who can disagree, but immature whining brats, regardless of their age, who can't defend their positions are a slot lower than pond scum on the scale of intellectual existence. Why are you debating things that are not clear yet? Why are you jumping to conclusions? We have absolutely no idea what drives Haruno. It could one of a million things posted around countless forums(here even), and yet you point at one and say this is it with absolutely no evidence. You should be the one doing the accepting here, namely the facts that other people might be equally right, and that you don't know this character and should just wait and see who she really is. |

Lonewolf13 said: Haruno's plan foiled by yui, lol she tried to manipulate jealously and get them together also tried to be persistent on the topic of giving chocolates, she really has twisted ways. She probably both loves and hates her sister due to her dependency on her in the past, even depended on the father to get out of manipulation hell, haruno tries to make them change(to show their true selfs) by shock treatment(by having bad experiences and feelings) which is kinda like hachiman in S1. Moreover, she also does this in order to remove some of the stress she acumulates due to the family issues/burdens on her, in this case of being the perfect successsor fulfilling the duty as so, as well as the possible bethrothal to someone(the silver ring was not animated again I guess). Don't ever, EVER compare Haruno to 8man. 8man's methods are always self-suicide, while Haruno's is just being a dickhead. |

shanimebib said: Okay, Haruno is now crossing the limits. I don't care what back-story would be there to support her but she is a real mood killer. For the better, I am starting to see Iroha in a different light. She made so much progress in her half a season appearance than our main two girls combined in two seasons. First of all, she was obviously interested to know Hachiman's take on chocolate when she asked whether he liked sweet stuff only to be rebuffed by Hachiman bringing that idiot Hayato in the conversation (who gives an F what he likes, really?). At that point her disappoint was beyond sweet. Loved it when she was kind of left speechless when Hachiman remembered her birthday and then later on she spoon fed him that melted chocolate and says "Senpai, do you not like this amount of sweetness?", I was so jealous I was like "Hachiman, you bastard!" One of the best part was also involving Kaori wanting to give Hachiman chocolate. I never noticed though but did Saki like Hachiman or something? At that point, it was like a full blown harem anime! Also hints were given that the other school's prez likes Kaori. I could be wrong though. I really enjoyed the tension between Yukino and Hachiman. That girl has fallen for him hard. Seeing her blushing was a privilege but I still couldn't enjoy it fully as every time the moments were followed up by Yui's sad expressions. Loving two female characters is so hard. But truth be told, Haruno ruined the episode for me. Adding more salt later on when the Yukino-mom appearing out of nowhere (because of the meddling Haruno) only to sprout nonsense how she failed as a mother and all. The Yui solo version followed. It was sweet but not as good as Yukino's. I like Touyama Nao's voice. It's super cute. But Hayami Saori possesses one of the most fantastic voices in seiyuu world right now. The difference is as clear as Reina and Kaori-senpai's performance. Saki was supposed to like him since last season finale. He told her that he "loved" her when she told him where to find the girl who ran from her duties during the festival. |

Finally watched the subbed version. :) Whenever Yui puts on a sad face, me: "oh f*ck"... Iroha moments made me smile alot in this episode. And i also love the bgm playing when she did the "teehee". XD (i think i also heard this, on the orimoto double date, with Iroha "threatening" Hikki. XD) Ugh Saki.... Well the LNs should(?) give her more moments w/ Hikki. I hope. :) Haruno... Meddlesome woman. XD Ahhh, and finally... Yui, confess to Hikki already.. Then stay away from him. To make him miss you. Then finally Yui end. Or Iroha or Saki or Hina or Yukinon or Haruno or Shizuka or Kaori or Meguri... Heck! go for the harem end Hikki. :) |

FrozenSoda said: Haruno hate in spoilers Yo damn...let me just start my post with getting the bitterness out of the way...Haruno is a fucking bitch man! She's bringing up all these topics to ruin the mood and atmosphere that was going on for a happy event like a valentines cooking class. Like are you serious right now? You gonna go out of your way to piss your little sister off for what? Really what? Then we got that random ass flustered/blush scenes ugh was cringing throughout that whole scene; God bless Yui for stopping that scene. Then she makes the comment about the "genuineness" that Hachiman wanted. Well obviously it's not gonna be that easy to break down all the walls, but they were working towards it! Haruno didn't to go and test this their bond. How the hell did she even find out what Hachiman wanted anyway? Talk about nosy, she's a university student and the heir to the company/organization or whatever but she always finds the time to piss Yukino off and not to mention the other people that get hurt as collateral damage when she does it. Who the fuck is she to judge them? What a genuine bitch. I love the banter between Iroha and Hachiman. It's too sweet! When she was all surprised about Hachiman remembering her birthday...that off guard reaction! Kawasaki really doesn't get enough screentime. The camera was on Kawasaki when it was mentioned that Hachiman may have gotten chocolates so I guess she's actually interested? Although I wouldn't know because she really doesn't interact with Hachiman that much. I never hated Orimoto because she never really had bad intentions. It always seemed to me, like she thought Hachiman was okay with her teasing/jokes because he never objected. What i'm saying might seem like victim blaming but I don't think it's quite the same. Hachiman also did realize that Orimoto acted the same to everyone so in the end I don't think he ever really hated her either. LOL at the "Don't really care about chocolate or Tobe. Especially Tobe." Yeah man fuck that guy, dude still can't get your name right. Yui i'm begging you don't just give up because of Yukino. Do what you want! You don't owe her shit! There's no reason to hold yourself back especially if you wanted to fulfill Hachiman's request. All is fair in love and war. So there's nothing unfair! Just....DO IT! I wish there would be alternative endings, with of course Iroha's being the TRUE ending :P. Anime skips 99.9% of kawasaki scenes :( |

At first, Haruno had a big expectation towards Yukino. But, she might be disappointed because Yukino, who capable being a student council president, was not elected. Moreover, Yukino being dependant with her friends, although she used doing something by herself and not easily trust anyone. Then, Haruno cornered Yukino, about being flawed and told everyone about what kind of mistake that Yukino did in the past. She will do anything as long as it will make Yukino to be a cute little sister who always chase her sister from back and not being dependant. However, I don't get the point why Haruno doesn't like to see her sister's happiness. Just my thoughts, correct me if I'm wrong. |

I’m kind of too busy to write my own thoughts on Haruno and why she acted this way during this episode, but I do think these anons are on the right track. --- Anon1. She's doing it all for Yukino only. Do you think she (a college student) would screw around highschoolers just for the sake of fun? That's why she was throwing reality to those three's eyes. That's why she choose to see everything burn but genuine rather than all sweet and rainbow but not genuine. She is the hero we don't need and deserve Anon2. >That's why she was throwing reality to those three's eyes She doesn't think genuine exists in the first place and she just seems mad that 8man and Yukino are still having a good time after her first attempt to ruin it. Anon3. That's why she was mad because they're averting their eyes from reality. Theirs is not genuine and she knows it. Let's call her skeptic in bitchy manner. --- >YUKINO ALSO CONFIRMED FOR FEELINGS FOR 8MAN Literally everyone already knew that. That was the entire point to Haruno's (awful and out of place) speech. 8man knows both Yui and Yukino like him, he knows they're both using the exact same "taste testing" excuse to stuff him full of chocolate. He's basically fallen back into pulling a Hayato this episode. It's basically Toradora all over again, with Iroha as a wildcard. --- It's kind of her way of nudging them towards the "right" direction, albeit a pretty bad way of doing it as it just ruins the mood and she acts like a total bitch. --- Haruno reminded them how the three avoid being genuine just to maintain the status quo. It is contradictory to the thing Hachiman said he wants. (source 4chan) Also, in no way am I trying to justify Haruno, I’m just trying to show why she’s doing what she’s doing: she sees that our main trio is tiptoeing around one another and not addressing the “we have romantic feelings for one another” issue. If Hachiman and Yukino truly desire something genuine, then they need to address it. She’s basically putting their relationship to the test. Haruno has always been willing to play the bad guy in order to get results. |

You know, I get the feeling that Haruno is maybe a bit Jealous, and maybe that's why she's acting so Childish in this episode. I mean, she's been trying so long to change Yukino to what she thinks is the best Yukino, but Yukino never did. Then comes along Hachiman, who becomes close to Yukino, garnering Haruno's attention. I mean, the reason why she was interested in Hachiman in the first place, was because she was curious why her sister would interact with Hachiman. Maybe somewhere along the line, that curiosity and interest turned into envy. After all, she's known Yukino all her life and couldn't change her, but then there comes a stranger, who got close to Yukino and changed her, which made Haruno Jealous. The same could be said for Yukino's Mom. She wants Yukino to be the Yukino that she pictures as "Yukino". The females in the family seem like a bunch of control freaks and they probably are. This is probably why the mother is getting involved in the first place. I could be wrong, but meh. I didn't really like how Haruno called them out about if this is what they considered Genuine, she has no right, because she has admitted that she doesn't know what Genuine is. If you don't understand it, how can you state that if something is even truly Genuine. At least the Trio, is attempting to find something Genuine, to understand what Genuine is. But Haruno can't because everything about her is not Genuine, not even her love for Yukino, because if she can't understand what Genuine is, then how can she understand Love which is an even more confusing concept than Geuine. I kinda wished that Hachiman would reply to Haruno, "Who knows what's Genuine and what's not. What's Genuine differs from people to people. After all, people are different, they don't think the same, they don't feel the same, they all have a different perception of the world. Maybe that's why we seek it, because we do not know it, so we want it, we yearn for it because we don't have it, thus we seek it so desperately. Something Genuine, is it wanting the "Truth" or could it be wanting something "Real", it's probably none of these two, it could be something entirely different, but we'll continue searching for it. Then again, you probably don't understand any of this, because you're not seeking anything Genuine, because maybe everything about yourself is so fake, so full of lies, maybe your so Ungenuine that you can't comprehend even the barest meaning of the feeling, the word, Genuine. Maybe what we're experiencing isn't truly Genuine...yet, but it isn't fake, it's not a lie. Can you say the same Haruno-san, are you truly your own self or are you just someone that everyone else wants you to be?" Well, that's how I'd have liked Hachiman to have replied to Haruno, or something along those lines. But really, I feel like Haruno is jealous of Yukino, because in my opinion, Haruno never got to be herself, she became what everyone expected of her, what they wanted her to be, which is probably why she has so many masks. That's probably why she meddled with Yukino so much, because she wanted Yukino to become her own person, but did it so badly, because she doesn't understand how to be real, that she ended up doing the same thing as everyone did to her, trying to change Yukino to fit Her "image" of Yukino. So when she saw Yukino and Hachiman together, she realized that Yukino had changed, even if only slightly, and that's why she became interested in Hachiman, because he had changed her, even if it was only a bit. So maybe at first she was just merely curious about Hachiman, then she became interested in Hachiman herself, then when she noticed that Yukino had begun to change because of her interactions with Hachiman, she became somewhat Jealous. That's probably why she got Yukino's mom involved. Haruno and Yuki-Mom wants Yukino to become what they want her to be, but she's becoming her own person, and they probably don't like that. Well, done with my speculations. Anyways, yall Yui/Yukino/Irohasu/Totsuka shipper can go and die. It's all about, Hikigaya Hachiman x Hiratsuka Shizuka, YEA! Oh, and I just realized...since Hachiman is The Dark Knight aka Batman in this series....then that must mean Haruno is the Joker in this series! OMFG!! MIND BLOWN!! ARU HAIRU, RURUSHUU!! |

This anime is like Battleship. IDK which of my 3 ships will sink next, while I'm also praying that b*tchy Haruno's side will be annihilated! A lot of cute scenes this episode with Iroha and 8man... and jelly scenes with the other girls during the choco making event. I bet Iroha was flattered that 8man knows her birthday. It's heartbreaking to see Yui hurt a lot in this episode. My prediction (and what I partly hope to see) is 8man will choose Iroha and like what the other comments mentioned, 8man will stay close friends with Yui and Yukino. Though I really like the 2 girls, this is the only way their friendship wont be ruined. |

Okay for anyone who believes 8man knows they like him.... he doesn't. He doesn't even think its a possibility and that's what I get from reading the LN. Even when others point it out to him and give him hints he shrugs it off. So no while it my seem like he knows in the anime he actually doesn't because he doesn't think its possible. |

And more importantly, how on earth does Haruno know about Hachiman's wish for something genuine??? I think, Iroha told her about it. But why would Iroha share something as personal as this for Hachiman to someone else like its just an interesting fact? How close is she with Haruno in the first place? |

This shit is exactly --why-- I am rooting for a solitary route for 8man. All this shits and useless drama ain't good for him. And that's just not Haruno, but even Yukino, Yukimom, and heck, even Yui. Even if, say, he gets to resolve their problems, that he solved Yukino's family matters, or Miura's advances to Hayato, or Iroha's getting over her rejection, what's his reward? Just a Thank You for solving my shit? And that's genuine. |

kuuurt said: OH MY GOD OH MY GOD VOLUME 11 HYPE. Next episode is when it all ends. My body is not ready, neither is yours. >dat sexual tension between yukino and 8man >dat white album 2 flashback >haruno FUCKING SHIT UP >yui ed highlights: White Album 2 spoilers Not to mention they both have black/dark hair and the blonde/orange haired girl in the middle. Honestly Yui is just putting a happy facade. There was a brief scene where she gave a sad face while she was making the cookies. Haruna pretty much ruined the mood of the episode as well as the mom. Yukinon and friends were being all happy then Haruno comes and pulls some nasty comment which leaves the 3 of them in a depressed state. For Yukinon it was even worst, her mom and tells her to stay true to herself. For the guy that posted the WA2 spoilers, is it bad enough that Yui's monologue at the end also happens to have a snowy background. Perhaps next week's episode will be a snowy episode, hmm not liking the vibes. |

LOL, too many hater comments. One of the best reason why Haruno did in this episode. You should say thank to her for helped Hachiman know the GENUINE he had is not that he wanted. Haruno doesn’t like what they are doing, being dishonest with their feelings. Hikki said he wanted ‘something genuine’, but with this love triangle it’s impossible to remain status quo as their feelings for each other constantly develops. She said they were boring now because they aren’t being genuine with each other and hiding their feelings behind their smiles and acting like nothing is wrong. She wants them to step forward in a cynical way. |

Nice episode overall but they made the end rather incomprehensible in favor of drama, really artificial to a real life. This whole thing about finding something genuine slowly turns out to be pretty nonsensical. It really feels like they are running in circles but now even from viewers' point of view. Not that any teenager of these days would ever gloom over problems like this. Couldn't they just have fun? |

Solitary route for me it is. |

After watching the episode i thought that the possibility i had in my mind up till now, that Haruno was actually a cold manipulative bitch, turned out to be true. Thinking about it on a deeper level though, it could be that you are true. Maybe she wants to help the trio the hard way? If thats the case, thats were Yukino inherited the tendency to help people even if they ended up thinking of her a bitch from. However, if thats the case, whats the whole thing with informing the mother about Yukino's actions? Cant wait for the last episode and for volume 11. |

However, if thats the case, whats the whole thing with informing the mother about Yukino's actions? Cant wait for the last episode and for volume 11. Haruno's method is oppose with sensei's method. Instead of TRUST that three of them will reach their GENUINE, Haruno used the harsh way to force Hachiman realize about HIS GENUINE. By saying there is no trust, Haruno implies that the three of them aren't honest to each other and therefore "act". Considering Yukino's newly found feelings, Yuigahama's diplomatic stance and Hachiman's apathy, she is not wrong. But essentially she is (more of that later). The sinister part is that in one sense, they forced that genuine relationship to the only people they knew. Think about it the other way. All three of them had only each other to choose to form a genuine relationship. Just because of this, someone can think that the choice itself is so limited that its not a choice, but a forced agreement. Hachiman avoided thinking that way, because he could not understand his newfound situation that well to doom it as non genuine. |

Do you guys think that there will be a s3 after what just happened? It seems that not all problems will be resolved in just one ep.I doubt a couple of OVAs can do much either.I dislike reading the LNs in a digital format but all hardcopies seem to be in Japanese so I would really appreciate an s3. |
