But other than that, it was good, Rider was badass and Tohsaka's speech at the end of episode was nice conclusion of this week's dose of FSN :)   |

I'm reasonably certain its more a response to the whole priest thing and some of their honestly outrageous and inconsiderate behavior like spoiling things for with no regard for people that are just watching the anime because they are seen as "secondaries", policing threads for any dissenting opinion on the show and just having treated the threads like their own personal chat room and members only club until the mods eventually stepped in and said enough is enough. Maybe things cool down from here as they already seem to be and as the show starts to pick up, but I can only imagine how these threads would look right now were the mods not being more proactive. I think in this shows case a lot of people like the show well enough but just hate the fan culture and fan boying surrounding it cause otherwise there's not much to hate about the show itself that I can see. Not exactly fair, but its kind of like what did some people expect when they decided to act the way they did about the show, pissing people off and probably creating a bit of an anti movement that wouldn't be there otherwise. |

| Great episode! Gave more necessary insight into the personalities of both Shirou and Rin. Hopefully Shirou gained some positive additions to his reputation from some people after showing that he can fight tactically and isn't spineless. Rin is tsundere and lively as ever with her expressions. The introduction of the purple haired servant was done well, though it seemed much shorter than I'd hoped. The adaptation continues to be very faithful and so far appears to be going one day per episode. Though, I remember feeling much more excited at this point in the visual novel than in the anime, but I'm not sure if that's so much the fact that the story was fresher when I was reading the VN or if this anime wasn't able to carry over certain charms that came with reading in the other medium. I still think the show is good, but it's nowhere near as perfect as many claim it to be. The main protagonist is basically the same type of character that we've seen in a bunch of other anime shows, the slightly naive 16-18 year male, but Emiya is a little bit more tolerable since he's a bit more mature and there's other traits about him, like his courage makes up for it. Rin is starting to become unlikable, especially in this episode after attacking Emiya. The show is starting to drag out a bit, but probably to explain the entire context of the story to viewers who aren't familiar with previous Fate shows. I also like some things about the show like the gorgeous fight scenes and the servants, but I'll probably end up dropping it, and return to it when it's finished. |
