THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Best episode so far. It mostly focused on KyosukexMadoka, on an island alone, and it was great to see them bond without that annoyingly childish bitch known as Hikaru getting in the way. Or the pervy friend duo. Or Kyosuke's family. Or something.

Instead of watching Kyosuke mess Madoka around and lie about being unable to decide which girl he likes best, I enjoyed seeing him act more like a man; refusing to let the lady row, saving her, and generally going out of his way to be nice. The part with the song, where they playfully chased each other around the island, was very cute.

As expected as it was, it was still kind of disappointing for them not to kiss, or advance their relationship beyond Kyosuke scoring a few points. Madoka getting up when he was about to kiss was a bit weird, and the perfect timing of the surprise helicopter was painfully predictable. It would have been too early for them to have gotten it on, obviously, but I can't help that I wanted more...

It's too bad the fake love triangle will get going again, in episode 20. God, do I ever hate the plot device known as Hikaru. I know her character was required for the series to be lighthearted and last forever and a day, but she's becoming more annoying with every passing "Darling!" line. If another guy starts chasing after Madoka, and Hikaru STILL keeps getting in the way, my blood pleasure will rise.

Just how old is Hikaru? she acts like a 5-year-old...
Even when I was in crowd, I was always alone

I liked the bit where Hatta and Komatsu got beat up, that scene alone makes it a 5/5.

Well, they almost kissed, but as usual, they were interrupted. Great episode, though.

No way a kiss would happen this early. I'm not sure it will ever happen in these 48 episodes. But this was the best episode in a while, based of a classic situation.

I have to say good use of power. All 3 times he used it this episode I had thought that's what he should do moments before he used them.

Exactly my thoughts. Great episode. As for Hikaru, she was bearable at first but damn is she annoying now.

Some mindless fun. Or is it? Did Madoka just state that maybe she has feelings for Kasuga, but she doesn't want to break the friendship they're having now?

I like the way time is measured by the shape of the sand castle.

Being alone on an exocitc island with the girl you like, dream for any boy. Unfortunately there was no happy ending xD

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

They went in. They almost went in for a kiss. Again. This time interrupted by a fucking chopper.

Kyosuke made another movie reference (Blue Lagoon 1980). I guess he's into movies?

This was one of the best episodes. Hope it'll only keep getting better.
Next episode seems like another bait. I'm not biting.

Decent episode for bonding time. This is the second time Madoka taking the initiative to kiss there. It makes me wonder if she had been in a relationship before or not. Hopefully Madoka is not created just for Kyosuke's fantasy lol. There are so many things that yet to be known about her so I'll stick around and see it.

I'm on my casual re-watch, and I'd also point to this episode as one of my favorites.
Not only does it have that perfect slice-of-life feel, but we get quality time between Madoka and Kyosuke alone; which I think the audience really wants to see more of. There is a sense of development with them.
Plus, when Hikaru is featured in the B plot, she's closer to that "delinquent" side we see in Episode 1 - She's actually funny in this episode and not annoying.
There's also some continuity there at the end. In a more episodic series like this, it's easy to forget moments like that.
It's nothing crazy, but overall it's a satisfying episode.

I don't know why, but I loved the whole deserted island vibe!
What if we watched Evangelion in the sewer...?

Kyōsuke's lecherous friends appeared on the picture, but I can't help but agree. Man and woman, being stuck on an island, is a perfect opportunity for you know what.

But this is KOR. There's some degree of lechery care of Kasuga's friends, but overall it's wholesome.

So we get the annoying indirect kiss as though it's a big deal.

Anyway, it's painfully obvious that they like each other. After all, they almost had a kiss, one of those annoying clichés.

But Madoka wants to make it ambiguous or have some plausible deniability that she does not like Kyōsuke at all.

Poor Kyōsuke that his power is not all too reliable at all, just sometimes.

First time around watching this episode I remember sitting on the edge of my seat, waiting for that kiss - or anything to happen between them, but no, this is a teen rom-com after all.
