THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Very awesome video. Love the colors. It would've been perfect if they didn't re-use any scenes, but it's still a great piece of animation (and music of course). |

Yeah, the OP used for the anime is actually based on this video.. I thought it would be a total different setting, with appearances or scenes with Akira & Saki.. But still, it was very good. Great use of typesetting :D |

It was cool at the beginning, but it just kept being repetitive, and the video really didn't make sense. Its like the animators trying to show off their animating skills, but with no meaning behind it...But I'm sure I can make up some bullshit though. lol. |

Nice video. The song is also something I've always liked about Higashi no Eden, because I usually don't like anime songs. The animation was amazing as usual, but we can't really expect any less from Production I.G.. ^^; |

Zebulunn said: This shouldn't even be on MAL, there is no anime content whatsoever. It's an ordinary 2D animation, just because it's made by Production I.G and uses the song from an anime, DOESN'T make this an anime. There's lots of music video, commercial, etc on MAL that are not actual series. In any case, this wasn't that great. It was PRETTY, yes, but the parts used in the OP and the parts for the music video didn't mesh well together, because the color and tone of the video parts was deeper. It's also awkward when they leave in bits like silhouettes of Akira and Saki but take out the characters themselves. Makes it look like they just cut and pasted footage from the opening then. The imagery fails overall because it has nothing to do with the song or the lyrics. I mean, wtf were those ponies on screen for? I think I would have rather seen the standard lame music video (a video of the band playing the song to a bunch screaming fans), at least that would have had more to do with the actual audio, then. |

Pretty cool I must say, just wish they wouldn't have re-used parts from the opening. |

The song is just boring, generic mainstream rock lameness- hardly anything changes throughout and it's annoyingly vocal lead and lifeless, doesn't deserve more than a 3/10, the animation is just reused scenes with lyrics thrown about, so that doesn't deserve more than a 5/10, 4/10 overall? Yeah, that's reasonable |

Yeah, that's reasonable The irony... you talk about mainstream lameness yet some of your top last.fm artist include Slipknot and As I Lay Dying. Anyway, as for the video it was alright... it was mostly ruined by the constant reused imagery. As for the song... I guess it fits the show well but not my taste. |

@NeloDeath: The irony, yeah? For starters the contrast in mainstream music we're talking about here: Oasis, million selling artists for years on end, constantly in the charts for decades. Slipknot and As I Lay Dying: metal artists who would never get that kind of success and are far from everyone's cup of tea. Secondly, you might want to take into account the fact I hate Slipknot's new album which could be classed as far more mainstream as their previous efforts, how would you know this you might ask? Check my charts more thoroughly- I have no plays for their new album! Moreover, whilst Slipknot have been successful with metal fans in the past, you can hardly call them mainstream in the grand scheme of things. Also, you might also have noticed I have had my Lastfm account for three years and the number of plays I have for Slipknot in recent times is extremely low! Now onto As I Lay Dying, what in the world makes you call them mainsteam? They're a metalcore/ thrash metal band, yeah they have clean sung choruses every now and then and have had a few songs on rotation on hard rock music channels, but you can hardly call them mainstream, just where is the level of success even Slipknot have had to back up that kind of statement!? In short: The difference in what we're calling mainstream here is phenomenal, Oasis compared with Slipknot or As I Lay Dying is laughable, it really is. |

I enjoyed the video. As I don't listen to mainstream and anything other than Russian folk rock, I appreciate the song as a remarkable adding to the series. Actually, only from this video I understood that a Selecao phone is the apple (regarding Eden theme). |

In short: The difference in what we're calling mainstream here is phenomenal, Oasis compared with Slipknot or As I Lay Dying is laughable, it really is. While I agree that Oasis is a much more mainstream band than Slipknot/AILD... all three are incredibly mainstream. All of which having their special place on a form of MTV/2 which can't really get anymore mainstream. Really it's just a matter of where and who you ask to determine what is mainstream... such as someone that finds all their music through MTV might not find them mainstream but someone that listens to loads of obscure bands from internet research or word of mouth will find them mainstream. Also, on a side not... did you really just call Slipknot metal... and AILD a thrash band... lulz. |

If I may intrude on the battle that's going on... The recycled scenes were disappointing, but I thought that it was well done throughout. Good to have a little Higashi no Eden reminder now that the show just finished. I especially liked the birds and when the horses turned into the butterflies. Btw, you guys are forgetting that music is only part (albeit a major one) of the finished product. Animation, art, etc. is part of that as well. |

@NeloDeath: Sorry, I’m still finding it highly amusing that you’re labelling AILD as “incredibly mainstream”- that’s an incredibly subjective statement. I’d also like to remind you the only place they’ve ever had on music channels would be MTV2’s Headbanger’s Ball, which is hardly a mainstream hour even if it is a mainstream channel, this is further evidenced by the fact that Headbanger’s Ball was cut to less than half it’s original running time, think of that as a low ratings show on another channel such as a movie channel- if a show doesn’t get high ratings, it’s cut. Now if we’re going to get pedantic and argue over small details such as something automatically being mainstream because it’s shown on a certain channel here I’d like to point out the last setence of your last post regarding Slipknot being metal and AILD being thrash. You attempt to mock the genres I have chosen to associate with them when you claim mainstream music is all down to opinion, now while I partially agree with your comment about mainstream music, it could also be argued that many things are down to personal opinion such as genre classification, hence your earlier point (if can so be called one) about Slipknot being metal and AILD being thrash is all down to opinion, and not fact, thus it will naturally vary from person to person. I also don’t like the way you’ve interpreted what I said in my last post, you seem to have a case of selective reading/ memory: I did not call AILD a pure thrash band, I said they were metalcore/ thrash, meaning they incorporate elements of both, not necessarily in equal amounts either, I’m in fact fully aware that none of AILD’s material pre-2007 is really thrash at all. However, on their latest release some of their material can indeed be said to incorporate elements of thrash and hence be associated with the band. Now onto Slipknot, again with the selective memory, I am only referring to Slipknot’s music that I like e.g. 1999-2004 era, which was all nu-metal, which while not being a ‘pure’ metal genre as such is still a subgenre, hence I believe the genre of metal can still be associated with them. I’d also like to point out what I assume to be your own way of finding music: “listens to loads of obscure bands from internet research or word of mouth”, now the way you’ve phrased that would hint that you’re claiming I am the opposite and find all my music through MTV and such channels, which I am not, in fact I’m much more like the above, finding music through internet research. I’d like to refer you back to my earlier post where I said I have had my Lastfm account for three years- my music taste has changed dramatically in that time. See it’s not so much what you’ve said that I find irritating, it’s the fact that your initial point claims that my point was ironic and that you’ve attempted to mock my opinion, when your entire argument rests on opinion, and almost opinion alone at that. Now is that not ironic? So to quote you, “lulz” @meonlyme775: we have both touched on the non-musical qualities of this video (albeit only briefly and somewhat indirectly), as you have said about the reused scenes I have also made that point which refers to animation and art both indirectly. I will admit though that we’ve both gotten carried away on the musical aspect now though. I just wanted to point that out, I’m not trying to start another needlessly heated discussion here. |

Anything that appears on Billboard is mainstream, plain as that. (So if you didn't understand, AILD and Slipknot ARE mainstream) That being said, Falling Down may be generic and stuff, but is a really good song. Regarding the video, let me say that the OP gave a greater surprise than this video did. |

@Wani_Me: Yeah I kinda had a post after that you maybe should've read, and you're a bit late, that whole discussion kinda ended a while back... Regardless I'd still like to comment on your little contribution here: "Anything that appears on Billboard is mainstream, plain as that. (So if you didn't understand, AILD and Slipknot ARE mainstream)" - If you haven't noticed I'm not from America so the Billboard means nothing to me, absolutely nothing. Also, NeloDeath and I have already been over all this in our discussion and I don't care to discuss it any further, if you want justification for what I've said then read all my posts in this thread rather than just my second one. And just for the record, what you've said on the matter is incredibly subjective- it's all down to opinion. If you choose to think your opinion rules over all and so much so that it is to the degree that to you seem to believe it is fact, then so be it, but I have no time for you if that's what you choose to believe. |

Great opening for a really good anime.. This would be my first encounter of a real music from the mainstream such as U2 which was used in an anime.. :-) I was at first surprised to hear a song from one of my favorite bands in an anime that I was watching.. but nonetheless it fitted in an also great anime.. The opening video was visually entertaining! The only flaw or awkwardness I felt was the rotating arm haha |
