THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I actually thought this was a decent OVA. It shows the immediate aftermath of FFVII in a different perspective, as seen through the eyes of a regular person who was uninvolved with the events. I totally didn't expect the WRO guy to be Ruby's son either. |

I liked it too. It kinda reminded me of the true atmosphere of FFVII. Y'know, that 'Nobuo Uematsu thing'. It shows things from a different perspective, because you don't think about it when playing the first time, but in the game, by destructing Sectors 1-7 you kill a lot of people too... |

Actually, I enjoyed it very much. Reeve's hair was weird though o.O Ruby's Geostigma looked quite scary... And the Exploration Crew was so cute xD Poor kid, he's been through hard times. And...is this THE Johnny? Tifa's Johnny? o.O 'Help adults call out their strength' - sniff x) Reeve, I've always liked you. An wth? She was his MOTHER? O.O Few last lines are very memorable. This was being written in the course of the episode so it may be a little chaotic xP But overall, I liked it very much. I have to read the novels at last x_X m4rc0 said: Do you know if the other episodes will be animated? I certainly hope so...but if it was supposed to be done, it would have been done with the AC:Complete release...Well, we shall wait. |

To me, it was nothing mind blowing, but I think it had a good touch. I agree that I didn't think about how many people AVALANCHE killed when they destroyed the Mako Reactors, but this OVA gives a good sense about it. I wonder if Denzel ever hated Cloud and Tifa for being responsible for the deaths of his parents or if he even knows that they were a part of AVALANCHE. If there's one thing I hate about this OVA, it's the very end when Johnny and Denzel start laughing. Scenes like that always get on my nerves. <_< |

Very good OVA, I liked it a lot. More story background is always welcome when it's about FFVII :D |

That was a pretty good OVA. Denzel's past is very sad. I feel sorry for him. And the OVA? I like it. :D |

Galatea said: but in the game, by destructing Sectors 1-7 you kill a lot of people too... They never destroyed any Sectors; they only blew up Mako Reactors full of people from Shinra. It was Shinra who destroyed Sector 7 by causing the plate to crush it - they then pinned the blame on AVALANCHE. Meteor destroyed nearly all of Midgar. AVALANCHE only ever managed to blow up a few Mako Reactors. As for the OVA, it was decent. In terms of the game, Denzel is no more than a filler character, but his back-story was decent. If his story had had more time, I think I'd give it 8/10 instead of 7/10. |

It was alright. Nothing extremely exciting happened but it was nice to know Denzel's past. It was truly sad and tragic. I'm sort of disappointed that all Cloud got was less than 20 seconds of screen time and only made a "eh" sound. Wanted to hear more of his smexy voice XD But I'm not to worried since this ova was mainly focused on Denzel and they did a good job showing his past. Must watch for final fantasy vii fans. |

Wish it would have been a little longer, but I greatly enjoyed this. Reeve and Johnny talking to Denzel during his recollections was a nice touch. |

It was decent. Denzel's story gave another side of the story of what happen in Sector 7. Well, it's been almost a decade since I played the game. I think I'm gonna play it again. Also, Denzel's voice was annoying. |

Why my score is not 10/10 but 9/10? Only because 10/10 is generally(just generally) for something grandiose and detached. On the Way to a Smile was not detached, it is dependent on Final Fantasy story and additive to it. However, On The Way To Smile possessed the spiritual, inner value equal to the masterpieces. Therefore it touched me heavily not less than the masterpieces. It had specific atmosphere and emotion. Though, I have differend perspective for the definition "masterpiece". |

So Denzel wanted to join WRO. That kid lost so many people in his life, the most heart breaking was when he lost Ruby, what a kind old lady. I guess Cloud was the one who rescued him in the end, especially from eating those infected rats. Such a heartbreaking movie and telling of the story was suberb. |
