THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- The fights were nicely done since it's fresh out for some new plot around. Things did not really change in terms of production value except of course the ecchi. In regards to that mucho points for the usual of Kan'u and Hakufu fan service but I do admit I missed more than anything the clothing ripping. Essentially the OVA had its fun I missed but I am more wondering when is the next phase of serious shit coming along for the ultimate end. Because whether all liked this OVA and wants the franchise long, is not dragging around never too good in thee end? So remains of this OVA the following, were the fights better than the previous ones and how was the ecchi/gore of fights balanced out? IMO The ecchi most certainly went on the up side since season 3. Season 2 was the start IMO. I think it was OK for this OVA but I do think the ecchi just keeps getting better with details to say the least. |

This was quite good. We get to see those who were introduced early, aswell as some later character (minus Bachou, the lead in the previous series who I found annoying :P), the male characters actually recived some time-of-day, the historical element was touched upon and there's a massive reduction of fanservice. Confilct on what should be a pleasant day out is pretty much the plot - though there is much seriousness... Quite a bit of effort has been put into this OVA, as we get some decent fight scenes that actually mean something aswell as character progression and numerous approaches to mild comedy at other times, such as: - Hakafu's ditzyness and timing - Hakafu and Kan's' pettyness - Kan'u's seriousness - funniest of all, the OTT gang at the begining, using a chariot of fire in a public place, with nobody reacting The cast must have bough high quality clotes, as they're not exploding as easily as they use to. :P This was a lot better then the last two series's IMO and it left grounds for a sequel. Another Ikki Tousen series following the tone of this OVA ould be brilliant IMO; it shows Ikki Tousen can be taken seriously. |

After that first season this show really took off and became really good. I'm glad to see more of it. I thought the OVA was pretty well done. Oh, and I know this has been said before but they probably spend a lot of money on school uniforms lol |

I lost faith in Ikkitousen after watching that crappy season 3. Thank god this OVA's actually good. I'm glad that the "fanservice" was mostly good fights. I was a bit scared since it was a school trip. This really shocked me. I mean..usually school trip episodes are full with fanservice and most have onsen. Who could have guessed that Ikkitousen would turn a school trip into serious business. I like that they used "Heart & Soul" and "No Limit" during the fights. Nothing beats voiced BGM during fights. Hope they make a sequel to this (which they'll probably do) |

I'll actually forget all about the past two seasons dragging the story down if this OVA set's up a new season, which I agree it likely will. |

It definitely wasn't bad, as far as Ikkitousen goes. Though I didn't see the seriousness people mentioned, I agree this OVA was definitely better than the later seasons. In my opinion, season two showed how serious the series can be, and left off at a great note. Then season three came and overturned it. There's something about Ikkitousen that would make me watch another season, regardless (no, not that). |

loved it. Ikkitousen has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. Ive always liked all the characters and excellent fanservice. but i do admit that the series were only average. I was really surprised with how much i enjoyed this OVA ep. I got a few laughs from it, had a perfect amount of fanservice; not too much and not too little, and the fight scenes were rather enjoyable as well. Im upset this was only 1 episode because it really left me wanting more. But it was nice seeing all the characters again.. especially Ryomou <3 |

This OVA is very worst than 4 seasons of Tv anime, the battles is good, but his story looks a "Naruto filler". Hope for a new season, but for TV with real story |

Well, besides the fan service, I think the plot line was pretty okay... though kinda incomplete. They could have made a more decent storyline with 1.30 or 2h like a movie. Anyways, the fight scenes were good and character development was quite nice too even though we already know 'bout there characters (especially Ryoumou's Tsudere/Kandere personality). Still, I think we're missing some... Bachou and Sonken, I guess? BTW, does anyone know the ending theme? |

Why can't Hakufu win a simple fight? OVA was very underwhelming, even for Ikkitousen |

I'm sure there will be a new series (5th season) or another OVA in 2013. I can't see TPTB passing up an opportunity to promote and make $$$ for the 10th anniversary of the anime (first series aired in 2003) |

I have to say, while I enjoyed this OVA, it could have been done much better. The thing that really hurts it is the fact that it feels quite rushed, but with how much it costs studios to animate these days I can understand why it ended as quickly as it did. And I have to say it now, being a 'Dynasty Warriors' fan, I was firmly in my happy place when I watched Hakufu using a tonfa style. Even if it was only for a little bit. |

Rofl, dat bus race. I face palmed. OST was still epic as usual I guess. I guess I didn't expect much of a plot from this OVA. Ending was weak though but I liked the song at the end. 5/10. |

Well I liked it, but it didn't really blow my mind. |

ok so it seems finally I get that the whole world knows about this school fighting thing. Throughout the whole series I wondered where are the police but I guess this is just accepted. wow kanu is still mad about that time at the resturant i mean thats the only reason she has to be pissed at hakufu and I liked the comment about where the hell the weapon came from lol. well the final battle was the best of the two and again the show does its best when there no super serious "plot" bogging it down. Fun little ova. I just didi a ikki tousen marathon and overall the series is fine for what it is just the "plots" drag it down at times. |

Haha... much better than the main series. Despite does not having a "real" plot, I enjoyed watching this and really had fun. That race haha I laughed, and then Gentoku was sleeping LOL haha I really liked to watch the girls together like that. That girl who wield a bow and is also a dual wield also had a screen time, despite the low screntime it was good to see her in a 'normal' situation. Liked to watch Kan and Hukufu, I really liked them and I was able to watch them at once for a good amount of time, so it was pleasure. =) ------- 1st season: 4/10 2nd seaso: 6/10 3rd and 4th: 3/10 This OVA: 7/10 PS.: The little girl at the end was so cute and funny ^_^ |

I enjoyed this as a character and Ikki Tousen-fighting bit of fun for fans, but I'm really starting to think that the overall creative team supervising this project can't finish a story properly, and this one they kind of got to the half-way mark and then said screw it, the rest will just be an epic fight. In the end, the 3 day, 2 night school trip with a hunt for the Tsuba's turned into... one night, and one visit to one attraction? And then they all went home? I guess I shouldn't discount the fact that I might have had a sudden nap in the middle of it and missed the rest of the plot. It's a shame really, because the characters in this show are so fantastic, they really deserve some proper stories to go along with them. They don't even have to be great stories, just sensibly structured. Amongst other things, the two of them were really just sparring, enjoying the fight and getting it out of their systems. When they really fight to win it's a completely different sort of fighting style. One thing that's nice to note is that Hakufu now has actually learned a fully developed fighting style based on technique to the point where she can fight like this against Kan'u of all people. A very marked contrast compared to how she fought in the first episode SlayerJim said: Why wasn't Bachou in this? Shouldn't she have been with the Seito group? Good point! She was the highlight of S4 for me. Maybe she had other commitments? |

I agree with the observation that they really kinda just gave up on the story about halfway through the OVA. That annoyed me a lot actually, it feels like I've been left hanging and won't get any closure. I wonder if they were planning on a longer OVA and then suddenly had to cut it short? |
