A scan from the upcoming issue of Afternoon magazine reveals that manga Aa! Megami-sama! will be ending this April.

The manga series started back in 1988 and has since had 47 volumes with the final volume, volume 48, releasing July 2014.

The series also received a two-season TV anime adaptation with the first season airing January 2005 and the second season airing April 2006, a spin-off TV anime adaptation, and numerous OVAs.

That sucks. Hopefully the series gets another anime series. I hope the romance at least went somewhere(already got spoiled of that once).

I think you mean 1988.

Haven't read the manga but still kind of sad to hear this. The first season of Oh My Goddess was one of the very first anime I watched, and I thought it was a really great, sweet anime. Look back at it fondly~

Same. One day.

I remember Belldandy's one of the first heroines I really really liked.

This is hitting me hard, I can't even lie. Belldandy is forever the Queen of anime spouses, just too perfect.

God this is a sad day for manga. One of the greatest and longest running series is coming to a end. and it wasn't just great because of the action or romance, it was great because of the characters and storylines.

The end of an era you could say. I'm going to have to catch up the manga right now. I hope it ends on a more conclusive note than the anime otherwise it'd be cruel to end it.

Ah, so one of earlier pioneer in "magical girlfriend" sub-genre finally coming to end. If anything, i was surprised that the series has managed to survive this long considering its readership has been continuously dwindling drastically than it was 10-15 years ago. Thank you for your contribution to anime/manga culture and good luck

I'd like a redo and have it be closer to the manga.

I gotta agree here. This series brings back a LOT of memories for me.

This was one of the first manga's that I picked up in my early teens, the very first manga that I chose for myself (without having stuff like Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Gundam and such foisted onto me by my elder cousins). This was the very first manga that I plucked up the courage to walk into a comic store and picked up for myself (ah, back when Darkhorse first started coming out with it oh so many years ago). First anime that obsessed me enough to mail order genuine goods from Japan for (back when even pay pal was a relatively new concept), all of which I still retain in good condition, even today.

I ended up dropping this series at around Volume 34, but I always promised myself that I would come back to it sooner or later. I truly expected that this series would keep going on for a long, long time, with this being a constant in my life for so long (along with death and taxes).

In recent years many new anime and manga stories have excited me, sending me further down the path which I am currently treading, but to me this series will always be my very first, and will forever hold an important place in my memories and my heart.

A great big thank you to Fujishima-sensei for creating a work so beautiful and so inspiring that it forever changed my mindset, my spending habits and my way of life. I hope to see many more new works from him in the near future!

Woah, I feel like I'm saying goodbye to an old friend. Ahh the feels!

With them getting married I knew the end of the manga might have been near. Well it was such a long going manga. The author is on his way of making a satisfying ending.
