Really loving this anime. My selection for winter anime was pretty scarce, because there wasn't much of interest to me, but I'm glad I chose this one. It's really great compared to the letdown Wizard Barristers has been so far.

Hmm I was so into this episode that I felt disappointed that I have to wait for the next episode.

And I was not expecting "She's a friend with benefits." reply :)).

Seriously Yato is a mess xD

And what made this even more hilarious is the "Friend with benefit's" phrase.

Did he literally mean the phrase 'Friend with benefit'? XD Omg, Yato's screwed
This episode was pretty cool.
This show never fails to make me laugh. Different feels.
Hiyori allows Yukine to stay at her place while Yato is against the decision.
Yukine was upto something when Yato popped up XD
Yato sneaks into Hiyori's place LOL and steals some food XD
God's can do anything they want? Yato killed a Regalia?
Hiyori offered Yukine to stay at her place. Lol. But she never asked Yato, maybe because he's a god and can take care of himself.
Loved Hiyori's outfit *^* She's so caring and thoughtful
New character showed up? But I wonder whats up with her.
Can't wait for the next episode. Seems to be a bit different and more serious than usual.

Great episode. I really enjoy the interaction between Yuki & Hiyori, but I really feel like she has an attraction to Yato. She seems so shocked whenever his antics involve other women.

She just acts like an older sister.

I hope so. In any case, i don't want him to get any closer to Hiyori. Its not like i hate Yukine, its just that i really really want a HiyoriXYato couple ♥

I feel like it's going to happen. The first real sign to me was when he hung onto her in Episode 4 to explain that if anything happens to him, she should seek Kofuku for help. She was enveloped by his scent, but didn't push him off or get confrontational with him like usual.

I remember in the 3rd episode. the phantoms at the train station said "one of us?". "halfway one of us"

She is definitely an enigma. Her condition hasn't been truly explained. But yeah her "ii nioi" phrase when she's around Yukine and Yato is eerily similar to the Phantoms chants. It does give you this sense that her condition is phantom like in nature.

yeah that was hilarious

so how does Hiyori see Yukine?? a 5 year old kid? no matter how you look at it sleeping together with him is inappropriate.. knowing she took Yukine away from Yato because she thinks hes a pervert.. thats nothing but hypocrisy.

Is it just me, or has there been a lot of keikaku doori's recently? First Nourin and now this?

Edit: And again and again I'm amazed at how well the seriousness is balanced with the humor. The both fit in so well and the transition is seamless.

Well....Hiyori sees Yukine as someone who's way younger than her. Obviously she's oblivious about Yukine being just one year younger than her.

"Oh, her? She's just.... a friend with benefits."

Yukine gets to sleep with Hiyori, lucky! Lol Yato sneaking in and stealing food from the fridge. And then scaring Yukine by coming up behind him as he was about to do something dirty; Yato's face at that scene was hilarious. Bishamonten makes a brief cameo, and poor ghost girl had to be killed because of having her soul possessed. Yato explaining how gods don't have a right or wrong, that they can do whatever they want. Overall another fantastic episode; light-hearted, with a touch of sadness at the end. Dat OST too. Loving the music during the Phantom fights. Looking forward to a non-Phantom battle with the blonde girl vs Yato next episode, and learning more about Yukine's and Yato's pasts. Especially Yato's.

I really don't understand why Hiyori sees Yukine as a little kid. It's a bit random. I mean, there's a lot of characters in anime that look a lot younger than they are (mostly girls), but Yuki?

Anyway, Yato's hilarious.

Seriously, are all the people in here a bunch of homos?

We see how naive was Yukine in this episode.

First he tried taking advantage of Hiyori's kindness by trying to touch her. Now don't get me wrong here, it's normal for teenagers to imagine pervy situations like that but to actually commit a crime by touching an asleep girl who kindly offered you roof and warm bath?

Secondly, he tried stealing a skateboard like it was nothing, sure he had something of a dark past we can't deny that but even kids in his age knows right and wrong, in his case he clearly doesn't and to add insult to the injury he ran away from the problem. Now don't get me wrong here because it's normal for teenagers to ran from their problems specially the ones with their parents but to steal something because you're a spirit, an unseen entity?

Third, he pushed the little girl and in the end his naivety cause an innocent spirit. Telling her how her mother won't be coming back, the little girls doesn't even know she's dead! Sure he had a dark past but seriously he can't be that super-dense right?

Sure enough they explained a lot in this episode but how about the spirits who got consumed by the phantoms? What happens to the corrupted spirits after you rid of the phantom?

Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta is a gem not this one like everyone claims to be.

You're trying to show us that his character is bad, but how about saying that to the hundreds of thousands in this reality who do the same thing as a daily routine. Many of them being adults mind you. Really though, people kill just for the thrill of it. To say a shows bad based on a single characters faults isn't very convincing. Plus Yukine doesn't even remember much about when he was alive. I'm sure his current situation is rather confusing to him.

Adding to this, the little girl also had something he didn't; which was innocence. He said such a thing (I feel) out of frustration because of his own situation. It was also hinted at that the spirits of those corrupted become no more once they've been ridden of.

Oh don't be confused about reality vs anime fiction now. Sure there are a lot of people who kill and justify their actions but that doesn't have anything to do with the anime. I for one watch anime to relieve the stress, to escape from reality. So my point is it's unfair to compare fiction to reality even if authors and mangaka based their works to the reality.

Please read my post and don't just jump to it. I clearly said 'naive' about Yukine and that doesn't make the character nor the series a flop. I have read the post in this thread and no one even got the point about Yukine's naivety. I'm just stating my opinion about that particular character because no one have done it just to show that the character is not just cute but have fault as well.

But if somewhat you are referring to the last line about 'gem', it's just another term I use for favorite. Just because the series is not in my favorite list doesn't make it bad.

You really made an account just to post that?

I wish your argument would at least be semi valid to help it, but since when does one character not being morally right make an entire show bad? And it's not even like the the kid killed someone or raped someone or anything. You're just angry that the show that you like isn't as popular as you wish it was.

I was merely stating that in reality such events occur, therefore Yukine having committed such actions is justifiable on his part. I also was connecting this to his character therefore it makes it relative to my comment about how you view him. Speaking of which, I do believe that there were a few who asked why Hiyori would allow him to sleep with her. This in itself tells you that some people know ( at least to some extent) his behavior.
Lastly, even though it may be your opinion, you never actually stated that this show isn't bad. You more or less said It's not that great. So we might be misreading one anothers post here. I'm sad to see that you felt this was me jumping into your post.

I can agree with the flaws in Yukine's character, he's not as "cute" as people seem to believe. It's rather obvious that even if he cannot remember his past, there's a part of it that has stuck with him. Otherwise his "character" would have been a clean slate when he was made a Regalia, not a deviant and perv.

However, I must say, that all in all, this is one of the best anime of the winter 2014 line-up. My other favorites being Magical Warfare(Mahou Sensou), Hamatora, and Witch Craft Works. As for your "gem", I've been watching- but I'm barely able to keep from dropping it after each episode. I'm trying to give it a chance, but it's just boring and full of over-dramatic, under-developed, character stories that end in the typical, predictable, cliche'd ways. If I manage to stay with it until the end, I'll be both vastly surprised, and impressed, if it ends any different than I predicted after episodes 2 and 3.

Moving on, back to the topic at hand. Yato's behavior when sneaking into Hiyori's house was priceless, loved the faces and the fridge-raiding!

Hiyori is an awesome character, if fleshed out properly she could be epic. I'm shipping for her and Yato, but her similarities to the phantoms could spell disaster for their relationship. Yukine is one lucky bastard to lay next to her!

Can't wait for the next episode, I'm curious as to what's up with blondie and her connection to Yato. Hope to see more of Kofuku too.
Odds are I'm not going to find my way back to a thread after my first post, it happens on occasion but not often. So, if I say something that offends you and you feel the need to force your opinion on me because obviously everyone should have your opinion or none at all, feel free to post it in the thread that I'll probably never see again. However, if you are interested in intelligent discourse, feel free to message me.

Hm... I think this time I prefer the manga chapter over this episode; although, I'm happy there was some closure for the little girl.
Yukine was more portray as a brat in the manga; thus, his character development later on looks more substantial that way.
Oh well.

We don't know how long the girl had been hanging around as a spirit, she would have degenerated into or eaten by a phantom sooner or later.

I'm not much a fan of Yukine myself but I can see his actions easily being done by a troubled teen.

Yukine's 12 years old I think? His character suits his age IMO. Not all anime characters are created to be angels fyi, and this anime does get darker over time.

But yeah, I agree with you, his character is really annoying at the moment (that's actually the author's intention, based on what I read from the manga he will get some pretty serious character development very soon)

Damn Yukine, its one thing to be a growing boy but he was willing to cross the line; you can't just go feeling up a girl while she's sleeping, that's crime. I guess it was probably done deliberately, considering he thought nothing of taking that skateboard. Interesting, guess we'll see how his story develops.

Seems like its awfully easy for a ghost to be possessed, or maybe it was just cuz that little girl was too young and naive. The girl was already dead so what does "killing" her entitle? Does it simply allow her soul to move on or does it obliterate her soul from existence?

Is it just me or did they make Yukine less bratty in this episode than in the manga?
Nevertheless Yukine is still awesome. That cutie <3

No actually...Hiyori's half phantom herself so that's to be expected.

It pretty much obliterates her soul. That's why Yukine was screaming no because he wanted her spirit to at least be able to live, even if she was dead.

7/10 for this episode.
Isayama Hajime should be awarded The Manga with The Highest Inconsistencies of Characters' Appearances.
He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter.
Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga.
Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month.
Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel.
The 2015 SNK live-action movie would probably suck.

Yukine is so cute but he really needs to learn boundaries when it comes to Hiyori! It was really sad to see that little girl get possessed :( Looking forward to Yukine's upcoming character development and more information about his past.

This was a good episode! The beginning was funny, especially Yato sneaking into Hiyori's house! But, quickly became sad, and maybe even disturbing.

For that contrast alone, I liked this episode!
