THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I find it weird for Taiga to rush out chasing after Ryuji. Maybe everything happened just too fast. Also, although Taiga and Ami singing and dancing was pretty, it looks a little weird.. i would prefer to have their eyes closed instead of being open so big all the time. But i really like that part where Ryuji pretended to be Santa for Taiga, both of them hugging and spinning was just adorable. In the end, Ami forfeited, Minorin rejected, and Taiga ftw! :D |

MINNNNNNNNNNNORRRRRINNNNNNNNNNNNN. Ami and Taiga singing was awesome. The Santa scene and Taiga Breakdown was nicely done. But i got crushed when Ryuji and Minori met. I demand a remake with Minorin as the main protagonist ;_;. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. TAIGA WTF. |

Okay...so like...I didn't see the ep and won't be able to see it until tomorrow...but I did see a clip. Okay of the ladies and some of the men here....who totally wanted to fuck Ryuuji with the slicked back hair and red shirt?! Oy...I totally became a fangirl. He was so hot...why can't he be real!!! Long live Ryuuji. By the way I thought Taiga and Ami looked great. ** If I had smilies I would totally abuse them right now for Ryuuji. He's always been my fave and just his pic was enough to keep me happy!!! soulelle said: Kushieda's out What do you mean? id said: THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. I'm awful with net-nyms, and once again Minorin rejected?! What is that? I think that is no.8 in her rejection of Ryuuji. That boy is a glutton for punishment....he should stay with Taiga, she'd accept him and punish him all he wants. |

It's like she's out of the game, out of the show, out of Ryuuji's life as a girlfriend/bride/wife or whatevah - Ryuuji won't end up with her because she prefers not to see his UFOs and ghosts. vaberella said: soulelle said: vaberella said: and once again Minorin rejected?! In previous episodes' discussion there were a lot of guesses and misunderstandings Why Minorin behaves weird, why doesn't she confess, why, why, why, and why. Now we can see her true reasons. She intentionally went to Taiga's home before going to the party. And her intuition was correct - she wanted a confirmation of Taiga's feelings and she found the proofs. She found out how sincerely Taiga loves Ryuuji, she confirmed to herself that Taiga needs Ryuuji much.. much more. Furthermore, I believe she guesses Ryuuji's true feelings for Taiga as well. That's why Minorin goes to Ryuuji and finally says 'NO', metaphorically but directly. And what's more important, it's the first time Takasu-kun realized he was rejected by his crush before he could ever say a word to her. So that's why Kushieda's out. |

And what's more important, it's the first time Takasu-kun realized he was rejected by his crush before he could ever say a word to her. So that's why Kushieda's out. First off there is no understanding as to why she acts like a goofball. Sure in some instances like in episode 2 or so we see how she acts under pressure. But if we're talking about her sillyness and scattiness I don't see an explanation. I'm speaking about scattiness in the sense of custard in a bucket not in her behaviour in the last couple of episodes. As for the last couple of eps it was clearly explained without debate that it was most probably the situation with Ryuuji taking up her time. As for her not confessing...that was debated by a lot of people who didn't want to see the evidence on the screen or were going for something else. I definitely do agree that was most definitely the time he might have realized...I saw the vid where he faints after her exclaimation. See that's the thing...I still find her actions irrelevant to the thing. I never find most of her actions as relevant because there was so much information that I found definitive enough to see that things clearly that her looking for something more for her self is just not necessary. To tell you the truth...I felt that Minorin was and is the most under developed character on the show. She's fluff and was supposed to do someting be a fulfilling protaganist of sorts but unfortunately for her it was Ami who took up that role more powerfully. Minorin was more of a conundrum of silliness. Seriously if she was removed it would do nothing for the story for me. All I saw her as was Ryuuji's interest and that was it because I saw nothing really developed around her properly. She was included in arc developments but nothing substantial. Even though this arc should have been around her more, I learned more about Taiga, Ryuuji's feelings towards her (not the other way round), and Ami. |

That we already not knowing that Taiga is in love with Ryuji but she didn't realize anything somewhere. That where I thought from beginning. But in the middle I was quite confused about it. |

Without spoiling you...well really I can't because the anime people spoil all the novel/manga readers anyway. In any event, just read the novel...the story, in particular Ryuuji/Taiga's relationship is developed differently in my book and the detail is amazing. The anime is real crap to the novel in my eyes, this goes also for the manga being crap compared to the novel. The novel definitely gives you a different and better perspective. |

sniW said: Hmmmm, so it's almost definitely now Ryuuji x Taiga. I liked this episode overall, but now that the end seems kind of inevitable, I'm not too confident about these coming up last few episodes.. I think they'll be fun. Remember Taiga has feelings for Ryuuji but Ryuuji is coming off of the finality of his unsuccessful attraction to Minorin. I get the feeling we'll be dealing with him doing to Minorin a bit what Taiga did to Kitamura after the Sumire thing...kind of still doing that lap dog thing. But then he'll have Taiga after him and definitely tons of ecchi scenes ensueing. I'm actually wondering if Taiga might call on the help of Ya-chan and Inko-chan to get things moving along her direction. What I like about Taiga and really the characters in the show is that they are forthright with their feelings (excluding Minorin). So that's something to be impressed by. So I think now we'll be dealing with hilarity on how it ends up with them as a couple. I got the feeling the show was going in this direction because throughout they were pimping at least Taiga's growing feelings for Ryuuji if not Ryuuji's to Taiga. So I think the show still has a lot to offer and anyway nothing is definitive until the end. There is still 6 episodes to go before we have a conclusion so there are some toss ups even if things seem inevitable. On a lighther note....Who has noticed Inko-chan's tongue is pink? Parrots have black tongues, not pink ones. It's something I noticed when I saw the ep. I think that's why he might be a bit loopy. I will review properly when subs are out. |

Oh how I loved this episode. Taiga breaking down without knowing why. Her unconsciously smelling his scarf. The santa scene where she jumps up and down. *Sigh. And I'm glad it dont go the cliched route of Minorin hooking up with Ryuuji at this point so that Taiga/Ryuuji would come only at the very end when they realize what's happening, thus crucifying Minorin in the process. This was great. I just wish Minorin didn't have to get sacrificed at all. I was a Ryuuji/Minorin shipper up to this point, but I see now Ryuuji/Taiga were meant for each other and they did a great job bringing them together. |

This was great. Agreed! I would have hated that as well. I was afraid they would put Ryuuji with Minorin and/or Taiga with Kitamura, only to have both couples split as Ryuuji and Taiga realize their feelings. I'm glad they stayed away from that path, as that would have been WAY to much drama. I'm not fond of other characters getting completely crushed for other characters happiness. |

If she was excluded, the show would lose a lot. Not only in terms of plot, but also in terms of its scent. Minori is a very vivid and comical character across the most part of the show and you can't easily remove her without affecting the general impression Toradora leaves on you. Moreover Minori is required to let us learn some important things in life: 1) how disturbed and depressed can an always smiling and cheering airhead feel deep inside 2) let us realize our blindness once we get a crush on someone. Minori exists in Toradora to let Ryuuji and Taiga understand the difference between their true feelings of love and feeling of getting a crush on somebody. mcjazzman32 said: Oh how I loved this episode. Film doesn't not have to be the "poor step-sister" to literature, and it is disappointing when the writers behind a film adapation allow that to happen. Actually it always is. Films have always failed in portraying the book...this is a norm. I can list film after film after film that has miserably failed where the book was a success. In the case of Bourne Identity it actually did better than the book since it just took the title and the actor and everything else was completely changed. But when you're basing anything on what's going on the book----the book is always going to win out and I wouldn't expect it any differently. Why? The book is able to delve into thoughts behind the characters and the meaning in their expressions and actions more clearly. The film or anime..and it's really the anime. Because animes can never really get the expression down that a human probably can; when displaying a thought. So irrespective to whatever you might think, the anime will never be able to shine where the manga has. Especially considering they're turning massive chapters with plenty of dialogue into 30 minutes. You only get a 1/3 of the chapter per episode. soulelle said: well, there's a basic and easy explanation to that: Minorin is Minorin. Her sillyness is just a part of her airheaded personality. So there's no need to understand Minori, just accept her character as it is. See this is ultimately the problem. Minorin is not Minorin because I don’t know who Minorin is. She is not a defined character for me to say…well Minorin is Minorin. I can’t even say that about Kitamura. Taiga, Ami, Ryuuji even Inko-chan sure thing. But Minorin is not. Her silliness is broken and can be seen as a front. Go to episode 4 when her and Ryuuji got stuck in the shed and we come to find out that Minorin was using her attitude to hide her fear. Or go to the scene where she was talking to Ryuuji about Taiga but set up the entire situation. The problem is…the writers gave this indication she’s more insightful but she’s as fake as Ami was. However, they tried to play off as though she was NEVER fake. This is the problem. Ami was directly made out to be a fake. She had this personality which was really hiding her true nature because of what she wanted people to believe. However, for the average viewer…Minorin wasn’t fake. She didn’t have double personalities but from what I can see when I rewatch ep after ep Minorin is a fake character----added to that you don’t get the many reasons why. Secondly…please don’t compare the human experience to the plight of the character. In the novel and for some reason I think that’s what you’re doing…is comparing the novel to the anime. The anime has failed where the novel has not. I did find her relatively insignificant in the novel but no where near as awfully done as in the anime. Third. Please please don’t say that I need to accept the character as is. Because she’s better in other places than here. We see all the time people complaining about Minorin. soulelle said: Well, I disagree. If she was excluded, the show would lose a lot. Not only in terms of plot, but also in terms of its scent. Minori exists in Toradora to let Ryuuji and Taiga understand the difference between their true feelings of love and feeling of getting a crush on somebody. Obviously you disagree and I can’t bring myself to agree with you. I don’t see Minorin as a vivid or comical character and I don’t seem to be the only one. Her supposed “comedy” is more annoying and weird than really comedic. She’s definitely no Haruhi Suzumiya, who had sense to her madness. I can completely remove her from the story because she does nothing for me when it comes to the show. She’s easily removable. I think I would have preferred that Ryuuji had a crush on Kihara, who I actually liked or even Ami as his crush. They have character….Actually I can honestly tell you Ami’s character would have carried the angst of the relationship far better if she replaced Minorin and making Minorin Ami’s role----as in third girl. But keep the characters the same. This is what I’m saying. I’m more into and connected I find with Ami. If Ami was removed…the show would really have a different impression on me. Minorin is whatever. 1) She’s two face…without any purpose and I just don’t wonder those questions when I see her. 2) What? I don’t see that AT ALL. Minorin doesn’t exist in that role because I found that it was Ami who was verbally stating the difference between crushes and romantic feelings. NOT Minorin. It was Ami was really delivering some crazy sound advice even if I disagreed at times with her on what is going on. That was far from Minorin. id said: Geez vabrella what's wrong with you, you take everything so serious. Why don't you just relax and discuss the episode :/ oh wait, i forgot, you never listen. Or that could be my parties...I think we're all closet Lesbians. ^_^ De nada, you made a great point in your statement and I liked it..since it was a strong possibility as well. I loved hearing the X-mas music....I want that song so much it was so good. ^_^ I haven't seen the thing in full (meaning with some subs). I want to sing along. ^_^ Oooh...Ryuuji with slick hair and a red shirt....Yummm...ugh I'd totally do him with the shirt and gel on. ^_^ **As a note me love your avatar...looks like a crazy Ya-chan. |

i love the part where Taiga kept calling Ryuuji's name out while Minori saw it. I wish subs could be out soon. Also, I hope the ED won't be permanent. I miss Orange. ;; Though the ED song was catchy all the same. EDIT: I watched the subs (Someone from youtube subbed it.) It doesn't needm subs to explain that Kitamura is gay. <.< Also, I love the Ending, where Ryuuji got dumped by Minori, Although I'm still a Minori x Ryuuji fan, I love the effect this has given Ryuuji. can;t wait for the next ep ! |

I almost cried at Taiga realizing her feelings and calling for Ryuuji. Moe Taiga! *tears up* Again, I noticed Ryuuji blushing when his mom was putting the perfume on Taiga. Yay! And yes, Ryuuji was hawt. Actually, it seems like more people from class can join that club as it seems no one is getting together except Taiga and Ryuuji. Is this a bad thing or a good thing? I usually dislike it when manga/anime/stories in general have to pair up every single character together. It's very unbelievable. One or two pairs is good enough for me. |

Since Ami is not taken seriously in this show (at least Ryuuji doesn't take her seriously), and Minorin rejected him, this is over. I mean, it had some possibility for not having TaigaxRyuuji (although small) in the end, but after this episode, it has all been done. This could have easily been episode 23,24, because it concludes everything... Guess from now on we will see Ami falling in love with Kitamura and Minorin, well, I don't know, someone new will come or she will move to other town... |

Wasabi said: Ugh looks like a TaigaxRyuuji is inevitable. That sucks ass. Still hoping TaigaxRyuuji would get ripped apart and a reverse plot twist and Ami or Minorin gets back into the picture. Well, i don't think its possible to break them apart, since episode 1 Ryuuji has been alwasy beside Taige and that make her felt wnated by someone aft years being alone...Thus, taiga see Ryuuji as special someone.... Ryuuji tooo seem to caring for taiga.... how couls you possibly break that strong bond,,,, BTW, I think minorin did have feelings for Ryuuji since its like hard for her to reject Ryuuji cause' in the end can see her hiding her face while rejecting Ryuuji (tying to avoid eye contact)... Anyway where can i read the manga version? |

Ryuukishi said: i think kitamura is gay. I mean, he went as a shirtless santa? And he loves the girl who acts the more like a guy in the whole show. Did anyone notice the similarity between the teacher and Minori, in terms of personality and character design ? Yuri looks like a "possible future Minori". So maybe they'll have a chat later on : I don't remember them talking together. At this point I'd rather see a "no pairing end" than a "Taiga/Ryuugi end". |

Wow, now that was a great episode. It made me laugh but at the same time it was very touching. The contrast between the happiness in the scene where Ryuuji is disguised as Santa, and then the sadness in the one with Taiga crying, was very well done. It adds to the emotional impact I guess. |

Anyway where can i read the manga version? I meant "break apart" as in remove the potential romantic intimate feelings. Ryuuji can easily hook up with either Ami or Minorin while still keeping Taiga close as a sister-type. |

NOOOO! I hoped for no-Taiga ending, but it's going to be the fact. Minorin made SELFOWN today. And why the hell Ami does not make a move? Only helps Ryuuji as older sister... |

Whaaaa where's my happy ending??? Well, it IS a christmas episode, though I think it gave a nice effect of Minori dumping Ryuuji, though. I still want Orange. : ( |

Well, there are still 6 episodes for Taiga to die. There is still chance for better ending. And who said Taiga was sexy? Crap, I've just completed CG R2 and character design in TD still makes me puke. |

I loved it, was almost crying by the end. Taiga being spun around was such a lovely wee happy moment. |

Seriously, why doesn't she make a move. Well I think she kinda does, but Ryuuji doesn't listen to her. Damn I wanted a an Ami ending. But here I am making it seem like he had already chosen Taiga. There's still 6 eps left of Ami not trying I guess. Weird Episode, it's February and I just couldn't get into the Christmas spirit. But still enjoyed it. 5/5. I liked the scene of Taiga's crying, though I too hoped for a no-Taiga ending. |
