I watched the first episode already and liked it. Looks like an interesting story with some good characters, action and mysterious goings on like why is Andy a spy...I know I will find out why...here's hoping they make it worth my time. ^^ |
| I recommend watching the original series, because some of the stuff they talk about in The Unlimited has been talked about in Zettai Karen Children, like in the first episode of The Unlimited they said words such as... "ECM" or "my Queen", and if you never watched the original series you might be wondering what is an ECM or who is the Queen etc... |

I don't wanna spoil anything here so if you want to know more about ECM and the queen let me know. |

But I had already planned earlier that i would take a look at the original series (ZKC) for the sake of the Unlimited, and i must say that the original ZKC story is very good. Take it from a 20-year-old girl here who is already sick of seeing moe harems flooding every season's anime. I just finished the series yesterday, and i'm already planning to read the manga soon. yes, it's too early to tell if you really need to watch ZKC for this, because there's no mention of when Unlimited takes place in ZKC (especially since it's an ORIGINAL spin off). but yes, I also agree that unless they explain terms such as ECM, Queen, etc in Unlimited or if they purposely want new fans to "infer" what they are, then I suggest watching ZKC first, because some of these terms are pretty important, especially if the story is leading up to the main ZKC storyline of the Queen of Catastrophe. |

| The question was do you NEED to watch the original series not if you should. There's always going to be a benefit to watching the parent series of a spin off but that's not what he's asking First, as other people have cited, the mangaka has said you DO NOT NEED to watch the original series or read the manga So far these past two episodes, I just jumped into the spinoff without previous exposure and for me at least I have been able to follow the story. When they mentioned the Queen and other stuff, it was an interesting mention(like I wonder who that is?) but I didn't feel left out in the cold. Though the story bills Hyobu Kyosuke as the protagonist, these past couple of episodes have mainly been showing the world through Andy Hinomiya's point of view so I'm watching this anime as Andy's story |
| There really isn't a need unless you want to understand the minor movements underneath the story. It may improve or spoil parts of the story. After reading the manga and watching the anime I like this series more than if I hadn't seen it. If you do decide to watch ZKC then get past the first 12 episodes it starts out like Reborn!, mostly gag or bad taste humor then builds to a solid world. |
| Hmm, I watched two episodes with no original series and it's all oke:) no need to understand all of it, while I did read who the Queen isXDD but in few topics read that original is quite good, I do like this series, considering watching ZKC too... but here we have darker tones, original don't seem so darky-.- maybe I am wrong though;) I'll see:))) |

| After watching the fourth episode, I feel that seeing at least part of the original ZKC (1 cour should be enough) really helps you enjoy it more. |

ZKC is lot more childish, but I wouldn't say it is "bad". You should watch few episodes to find out if you like it. Also girls do have some voice actor. I'm pretty sure almost all characters have their original voices. I was really cautious about ZKC because it seemed so childish, but after watching few eps I marathon'd whole series in few days, not sure if it was worth it, but who cares show itself was pretty good, but you don't need to watch ZKC to understand Unlimited. |
| You'll get to know who the queen is during the anime anyway. And I myself can't be bothered to watch a 70+ eps anime atm just to find out some stuff :P The mangaka has said it's not necessary, so I'll take his/hers word for it. |

Edit: I haven't watched and don't plan to watch original story. I have to say i didn't need to. There wasn't single thing i wouldn't understand that they would not explained at some point. Show slightly degraded itself at point when little girls appeared anyway. |
