What if, this series is only a dream? I just thought of it, because I read something in tumblr about the ED.

I would probably have something to say if the sheer stupidity of that article didn't destroy every braincell I have.

I agree with the OP. I wasnt expecting something like him destroying Japan and killing people, because it is a comedy. But I was expecting him to TRY to conquer the human world but quirkly and amusingly fail to do so, providing us with hilarious comedy. And in some sort it did the first few episodes but then it got rather boring.
And I wouldnt have minded making mao a good guy if they wouldnt have done it in like 1 day of him being on the human world. There is just no way that one day on this world makes turns you from a devil into an angel, In fact you get even more rotten. All in all I would say this show lacks from the syndrome of multiple genres, trying to be a comedy, slice of life and have an action-oriente Story at the same time, and doesnt manage to please any of them to the fullest. Except maybe for the Slice of Life part which i never liked tough. The comedy was good but short ...

From the sounds of things the most damaging thing to this anime was the fact that it was limited to 12 episodes.

Really? I made a complete idiot of myself by laughing out loud at some parts during lunch breaks at school.

I liked how it became so cute and funny. I don't think I'd have liked it as much if the main wanted to take over the world much. I think it made me think, what would people be like if they always tried walking in the other persons shoes? Trying to relate to how they think and feel? When satan became Maou as human he became much nicer and became a good person who no longer mistreated the humans. At least never intentionally. I thought that behind the comedy it had a good lesson. I think it'd be better if it was longer!

To each his own. If you found the show unsatisfactory, then I suggest you go watch something else that is to your tastes. Or better yet, make your own, where you can have your smart, scheming, heartless bastard protagonist take over multiple worlds with a passion. This show is not for you. That's it. Move on.

There was a long time-skip. It wasn't just 1 day.

And besides, he was good from the very beginning. Not the good guy, but good nonetheless. The human Maou Sadao is his true personality. Without actually spoiling anything, all I can really say is he had merely ended up going down the wrong path, thus leading to the events that drove him to run away.

Yes, he is the Demon King, but he is not evil. He simply didn't understand humans. He saw them as a completely different species and had no qualms killing them, just like how most of us don't hesitate in killing insects or animals. And like what the anime has shown, his perspective does eventually change.

The first half of the show, which ends with Lucifer, was interesting and had a decent plot. The second half felt like a boring slice of life anime, and there wasn't a well-developed build-up to the end of the arc like the first half where there were earthquakes, mugging reports, and random attacks. That was probably because the 2nd half was mostly fillers.

Also I want to know why Satan even tried to conquer the world if he was really a nice person or what made him change because nice people don't randomly start wars that will kill many people to conquer the world.

Thank god it didn't turn out to be a shitty show for 5 year olds who want to be "badass" like how the OP wanted. Seriously, thank god. Thankfully, most anime developers are smart enough to avoid shitty setups like what the OP want and shitty shows like Sengoku Basara are rare; though they make shows that are shitty in other ways. Nothing takes the cake in shittiness like what the OP suggested though, its even more shitty than harem. Yes, there are things shittier than harem.

I'm also surprised you watched the first 5 episodes and failed to see what kind of show it is.

I couldn't disagree any more. Maou, or rather the whole show would lose its charm if he was like that.

I just don't understand, I'm a newcomer so I don't really get the point of arguing the thing that would make this anime much better. I agree that it was annoying how the first few episodes full with awesomeness yet funny and continuing with these less-awesome episodes, plus it was uneasy to imagine the dark lord satan, the biggest enemy of human become an 'angel'. but once again it's a comedy anime, what would you expect? I enjoy this anime the most for the last season so I don't know how this show could be better from the way it is now.

There is a reason why the recent episodes have been boring and filler-ish

They have to dragged out vol.2 of the novel so that they will end it there due to how volume 3 works.

The show is still awesome though IMO . I look forward to it more than SnK

No wonder.

This series was pretty good at getting that comedy in, and I would rather it has a light-hearted caring main than a dbag.

It definitely could be better. I think the one lacking here is the char development.
I can't help but wondering why Maou who is supposed to be bad and suddenly become a good guy.
Or does he really intend to go back to Ente Isla?

One of the funnier anime that I've watched. But it all depends on your expectations and your taste in the end.

I just picked this as a random show to watch. Started watching the anime as a 'filler' while I wait for one of the running shows to go further and not expecting much I was really surprised how funny and entertaining the anime was. It's fine as it is.

Maou isn't "bad" per se, from what they showed trying to dominate humans was what his race was supposed to do so he did a good job at it as he does a "good" job at everything.

When Emi broke down asking why Maou killed her father, look at Maou's response. I think for the first time he really understood what domination meant. Plus Maou is an honorable fellow, humans helped him when he had nothing, so he will return the favor.

Now that doesn't mean that he doesn't still want to rule all of Ente Isla, however he wants to win in keeping with his new found wisdom. In short he wants to prove that he is worthy, which given how crappy the church is, may not be that far from happening. This is why at the end he believes that he can get Emi on his side, not because he will trick her or seduce her, but because he does think he is the best person and from what we have seen, this could actually be the truth.
